Not only Nancy was bewildered, but even Yanis and Bonnie were also taken aback.

Given Nancy's current condition, she could only consume liquid food, unable to eat anything else.

"You mute? Can't you answer my question?" Nancy's husband impatiently looked at her as she remained silent for a while.

Nancy furrowed her brow and gazed at her husband, asking, "What do you mean?"

"What do I mean? During your pregnancy, you ate like there was no tomorrow. Do you realize the suffering our child will endure?" Nancy's husband threatened, his tone suggesting aggression.

Yanis couldn't hold back, given Nancy's husband's attitude the previous night. He turned to Nancy's husband and inquired, "What's going on? What happened to the child?"

Yanis had seen the baby when it was born last night. Although tiny, the baby looked chubby, and the doctor didn't mention any problems. But now, seeing Nancy's husband's demeanor, Yanis sensed that something serious had happened to the child.

Upon hearing Yanis' question, Nancy's husband seemed to notice Yanis and Bonnie standing on the side. He turned his gaze towards them and asked, "Why are you here?"

Nancy's husband's tone didn't sound welcoming towards Yanis and Bonnie.

Yanis furrowed his brow slightly and replied, "Mr. Rivers, we came to see Nancy."

Nancy's husband responded indifferently, "What's so fascinating about having a child? If you want one, go have your own!"

Yanis couldn't tolerate Nancy's husband's words. He spoke before Nancy, "We don't care about your child. We came to see Nancy, and it's none of your business. Even though you're her husband, you don't have the right to prevent us from visiting her!"

Nancy didn't expect Andrew Rivers to show her such disrespect, and her face looked embarrassed. Her tone turned colder compared to earlier, "They are my friends who came to see me. It has nothing to do with you. And what did you mean by that? What happened to the child?"

Andrew seemed taken aback by Nancy's sudden assertiveness. He looked at Nancy in surprise and then replied in a cold voice, "It's because of all the random things you ate during your pregnancy. Now the child has to stay separately and undergo treatment!"

When Nancy heard Andrew's words, the color drained from her face even more. She tried to get up from the bed, but the surgical incision hadn't healed yet, and the movement caused her to gasp in pain. Yanis turned to Nancy upon hearing the sound. "You just had surgery, don't move recklessly."

Nancy endured the pain caused by the accidental pull on her wound and looked at Andrew. "Explain clearly, what exactly is wrong with the child?"

Andrew said coldly, "The child has jaundice, and it's quite severe!"

Bonnie sneered upon hearing this. "Mr. Rivers, if you're unfamiliar with common knowledge, I don't mind enlightening you. Jaundice is common in newborns. About eight out of ten babies have it, and it usually improves after receiving treatment. It has nothing to do with what Nancy ate during pregnancy."

Upon hearing Bonnie's words, Andrew turned to her and asked, "What do you mean?"

"Jaundice is a common condition in newborns, and it's expected. Furthermore, after receiving medical treatment, it will improve without significant impact. And by the way, where were you when Nancy was pregnant?"

Bonnie's words left Andrew speechless. He attempted to retort several times but couldn't come up with a convincing argument.

Nancy felt relieved upon hearing Bonnie's assurance that jaundice wasn't a severe issue. Andrew, unable to counter Bonnie's remarks, redirected his anger towards Nancy. "Let me tell you, if anything happens to my son, I won't let you off!"

After uttering these words, Andrew stormed out, slamming the door behind him.

After Andrew left, Nancy looked at Yanis and Bonnie apologetically. "I'm sorry you had to witness that."

Bonnie turned around and looked at Nancy, asking, "What's wrong with him? He seemed like a decent person before."

During the engagement ceremony, Bonnie even told Myles that Nancy was lucky to have found such a husband. It seemed like they would have a good life together. But in such a short period, Andrew appeared to have transformed into a completely different person, nothing like the one they saw at the engagement ceremony.

Yanis turned to Nancy after hearing Bonnie's question, waiting for Nancy's response.

Nancy remained silent for a moment before speaking up, "Our child wasn't conceived naturally. We did in vitro fertilization."

Yanis and Bonnie both looked visibly surprised upon hearing Nancy's revelation.

"In vitro fertilization?" Yanis stared at Nancy. "You two..."

"I had some fertility issues, and when we met, we had premarital exams. Maybe he genuinely cared about me back then, so he didn't mind. We decided to go ahead with in vitro fertilization, and fate was on our side. It worked on the first try," Nancy explained.

In truth, when Nancy discovered her fertility issues, she had considered breaking up with Andrew. But as she mentioned earlier, perhaps they had developed genuine feelings for each other, so neither of them brought up the idea of separating and continued to be together.

Later, when they went through the in vitro fertilization process, Andrew's attitude towards Nancy was extremely kind. Especially when he found out about her successful pregnancy, he treated her like a treasure.
