Chapter 865: Your Actions Are Truly Irrational
Dr. Watson didn't have time to say anything to Yanis before hastily walking out with the nurse. Yanis recalled that Room 08 was most likely Nancy's ward. Realizing this, Yanis quickly turned around and followed.
When Dr. Watson saw that Yanis was also coming along, he asked, "By the way, Miss Thompson, do you know the lady in Room 08?"
"Nancy," the nurse next to Dr. Watson reminded.
Dr. Watson nodded, "Yes, Nancy. Do you know her?"
"I do."
"Try to talk some sense into her. Her husband is a real jerk!" Dr. Watson's rare tone turned cold.
Thinking about what Nancy had said yesterday, Yanis didn't know how to respond to Dr. Watson. But before Yanis could speak, Dr. Watson fell behind and whispered to Yanis, "Miss Thompson, did you know that Miss Nancy's child is conceived through non-traditional means? Did she tell you about it?"
Yanis was slightly stunned by Dr. Watson's words, surprised that Dr. Watson was aware of the IVF treatment. "She just told me yesterday. I had no idea before."
Dr. Watson's expression turned serious. "Although this method is indeed feasible, Miss Nancy's situation is somewhat special. It's likely that even with IVF, it will be difficult for her to conceive successfully in the future. This child is of great importance to Miss Nancy. Her sudden emotional breakdown and these actions were probably triggered by something her husband said or did."
"Mr. Rivers used to treat Nancy well, but now, it's completely different from what we originally knew," Yanis said.
Dr. Watson sighed. As they approached the ward's door, he didn't say much, but whispered to Yanis, "When you go in, try to persuade her. Maybe she'll listen to you."
"Okay," Yanis nodded.
As Yanis followed Dr. Watson and the nurse into the room, Nancy sat on the windowsill holding the child, appearing extremely dangerous. One careless move and she could fall. Nancy's parents stood in the room, earnestly trying to persuade her. Aunt Rivers had red eyes, nervously watching Nancy, occasionally uttering angry words towards Andrew. Although Andrew stood relatively close to Nancy, he didn't dare to approach easily. While his gaze seemed fixed on Nancy, in reality, his eyes were always on the child in Nancy's arms. Yanis watched this scene and realized that if Nancy was truly in danger, the first person Andrew would rush to save wouldn't be Nancy but the child in her arms.
"Nancy, please listen and come down first, okay?" Mrs. Jones coaxed softly. "You come down first, and Mom will do whatever you want. Is that okay?"
Nancy seemed to be oblivious to Mrs. Jones' words, just sitting by the window with vacant eyes, lost in her thoughts.
After Mrs. Jones' attempt to coax her, Aunt Rivers spoke up, "Nancy, let's have a conversation, okay? If you think there's no need to continue with Andrew, we won't either. We don't want him either. Let's come down and resolve everything together, okay?" Aunt Rivers spoke softly, seemingly afraid of scaring Nancy.
Mrs. Jones and Aunt Rivers took turns persuading Nancy, but she remained silent throughout.
Aunt Rivers was at her wit's end and turned around, slapping Andrew's shoulder. "Kneel down and apologize to Nancy!"
After Aunt Rivers slapped Andrew, he glanced at her with an unwilling expression, his face clearly showing his reluctance.
"I'm talking to you, didn't you hear me
? Kneel down and apologize to Nancy!"
Andrew frowned and looked at Aunt Rivers, saying, "Aunt, can't you stop doing this? I can't marry her, and I won't have anything to do with her. We'll divorce as soon as she's discharged!"
Aunt Rivers didn't expect Andrew to not apologize and say such words. This time, she directly raised her hand and slapped Andrew's face, saying, "You damn fool, what nonsense are you talking about?"
"Mother."
Just as Aunt Rivers was scolding Andrew, Nancy suddenly spoke up.
Aunt Rivers, upon hearing Nancy's voice, immediately looked at Nancy. "Nancy, let's come down first, alright? It's your own body. Even if you're angry at Andrew, you still have to think about the child and your parents, okay? Listen to me, come down first."
Aunt Rivers tried to move closer to Nancy but was halted by Nancy's rebuke. "Don't come near me!"
Aunt Rivers froze in her steps. "Alright, I won't come. Just calm down."
Nancy turned her gaze towards Andrew, who stood by the side, still holding his cheek from Aunt Rivers' slap. "Why did you lie to me?"
Andrew lowered his hand from his face upon hearing Nancy's words. "I suddenly realized."
Nancy smiled slightly. "So, you suddenly realized, and that means it's me who has to make the sacrifice, right? You want a child, and there are so many other women out there. Why does it have to be me?" Andrew didn't respond to Nancy's words. "Can you come down first? Do you think you can scare anyone like this?"
Nancy chuckled. "Who am I scaring? Did I scare you, Andrew? Did I scare you like this?"
Andrew furrowed his brows. "Can you come down and talk first?"
Nancy looked at him, and as her smile faded, her eyes turned red. "I understand now."
Andrew looked at Nancy, his expression softening instantly. "Nancy! I was wrong! Can you please come down first?"
Nancy didn't pay attention to Andrew but turned her gaze towards Mrs. Jones, who stood by the side. "Mom, I'm sorry." After saying these words, Nancy turned to look outside the window and glanced at the child in her arms.
That action couldn't help but tug at people's hearts.
"Nancy!"
Yanis timely called out.
Upon hearing this voice, Nancy turned her face towards Yanis.
Yanis took two steps forward. "Nancy, don't act impulsively."
Nancy smiled. "Why did you come?"
Nancy looked at Yanis. "I didn't expect you to see me in such a miserable state."
Yanis looked at her and whispered, "Nancy, let's not do anything impulsive, okay? The child is still young, and he hasn't had a chance to see this world. What you're doing is truly irrational." Yanis spoke, taking a couple of tentative steps forward. "I'll ask everyone to leave, and then you and I can talk, okay?"
Nancy looked at Yanis, tears continuously streaming down her face. "Yanis, I really can't understand."
Yanis nodded. "I know. I'll ask them all to leave now, alright?"
Saying this, Yanis looked at Aunt Rivers and Mrs. Jones. "Aunt Rivers, Mrs. Jones, would you please go outside first? I'll talk to Nancy."
