Chapter 979: How Many Benefits Did She Offer You to Make You Work So Hard for Her?
Sandy listened attentively as Brandon explained in a low voice, "Mr. Hughs was here a moment ago, and we chatted for a while. As soon as I saw it was your call, I came down."
Brandon nodded, turning to open the car door for Sandy. "My sister said she'd take you to her store later; she has something for you."
Sandy bent down to get into the car. "Is she at the store now?"
"She just called and said she's there," Brandon replied.
"Then let's go there," Sandy said with a nod.
Brandon agreed, closing the car door and then getting into the driver's seat.
Simsang Entertainment, President's Office on the top floor.
The spacious office was tightly shut, with the air conditioning set low, yet the rising temperature couldn't be stifled.
The desk was in disarray, with papers scattered all over the floor.
Two figures intertwined, their movements fluctuating.
After it was all over, the room's temperature didn't drop significantly, but rather lingered at a certain point.
After a long while, when everything had calmed down, the woman got up and stood, intending to pick up her discarded clothes. However, as she bent down to pick them up, she furiously threw them at the man's face. "What am I going to wear later?"
The man reached out and pulled her closer, letting her sit on his lap. "I'll have my assistant bring a new set for you. You can freshen up in the lounge."
The woman playfully raised her hand to tap the man's forehead. "Benedict, tell me, did you fool around with other women here while I was away?"
Benedict leaned down and kissed her cheek. "Why would I do that? When I have you, why would I look for anyone else?"
The woman smiled at his response. "Good to hear."
After saying that, she looked at Benedict tenderly. "Darling, I saw a small apartment in the heart of Manches City recently, and I want to buy it. Then we can live there together."
"Buy it," Benedict said, reaching into a drawer to take out a card and handed it to the woman. "Go check it out, and if you like it, just buy it."
The woman took the card and kissed Benedict's face. "Thank you, my dear."
"Just a verbal thank you?" Benedict teased.
Looking at Benedict, the woman blushed and asked coyly, "Then how should I thank you?"
Benedict raised an eyebrow and motioned for her to come closer. He whispered a few words in her ear, and she blushed even more. "You're so... naughty."
Although she said that, she followed through with what Benedict suggested.
Next came another passionate encounter.
But just as they reached a critical moment, someone knocked on the door.
Benedict furrowed his brows, annoyed, and glanced at the door. He said sternly, "Wait a moment!"
Finishing quickly, Benedict picked her up and carried her into the lounge. "Wait for me here."
The woman replied, "Okay."
Benedict dressed and tidied himself, then went to open the door.
When he saw who was at the door, Benedict frowned and took a step outside the office. "Why are you here?" Jones looked inside the room and asked, "Is there someone inside? Is it not convenient for me to come in?"
Benedict looked at Jones. "Did you come to see me about something?"
"If it's not convenient to talk here, let's go somewhere else. I have something I want to discuss with you," Jones said.
When Benedict heard this, he hesitated for a moment and then nodded. "Wait for me."
Jones replied, "I'll be waiting in the stairwell."
After saying that, Jones turned and left first.
Benedict stood in place, watching Jones leave before turning back into the office.
He immediately went to the lounge, "My love, I have something to take care of. I'll have someone send your clothes here later. After you change, go home first, and I'll come to replace you in about an hour." The woman looked a bit upset. "You're just leaving me here?"
Benedict stepped closer and comforted her, "I really have something to handle. Didn't you say you wanted to check out the house? You can ask your friends to go with you, and I'll message you after I finish." Upon hearing about the house, the woman reluctantly nodded. "Okay, I'll wait for you at home then."
Benedict responded, "Alright."
Benedict tidied up and then went to the stairwell to replace Jones.
As Jones turned at the sound of footsteps behind him, he saw Benedict approaching in a neat attire. "Do you know why I came to replace you, Mr. Sharp?"
Benedict stood shoulder to shoulder with Jones, jokingly saying, "You can't be here to seek refuge with me or to answer my calls."
Having said that, Benedict looked sideways at Jones. "Is it about Sandy?"
Jones looked at him and said calmly, "Mr. Sharp, do you think Simsang Entertainment is the same as it used to be?"
Benedict took out a cigarette and lit it. "In some ways, I know it's better than before."
"Is that so? Exploiting artists and falsely reporting their pay, is that what you call 'better'?" Jones said.
When Benedict heard this, his smoking action paused for a moment. Then he looked at Jones and said, "Where did you hear these rumors from? Do you really think I would do such a thing without the artists knowing? If the investors accidentally let it slip, wouldn't it easily expose me?"
"So, each artist's pay is negotiated by the company. Only the company knows what the agreed-upon price is," Jones replied.
Benedict nonchalantly took a drag of his cigarette. "So, Jones, what is your purpose in coming to replace me? To speak up for these artists or to gain something for yourself?"
Jones, upon hearing Benedict's words, couldn't help but chuckle softly. "Mr. Sharp, do you think I can gain something from you? Status, position, or wealth?"
Benedict narrowed his eyes, then walked a few steps closer to Jones, lowering his voice, "Perhaps you should reconsider what I said earlier. I won't let you be mistreated."
As he spoke, Benedict reached out and held Jones' jaw, leaning in closer. Then he breathed out the smoke from his mouth, spraying it onto Jones' face.
Jones raised his hand to push away Benedict's hand and moved his head slightly to avoid the smoke. Coldly, he said, "I didn't come to you for anything else. I just wanted to tell you not to let your company's artists harm Sandy again. If it happens again, I will personally hand you a lawyer's letter."
Benedict chuckled upon hearing that. "How many benefits did Sandy offer you to make you work so hard for her?" Jones calmly replied, "That's none of your business. My words end here. If you don't believe it, you can try it!"
