Chapter 1047: Can'T You Even Lie To Her?

Chapter 1047: Can't You Even Lie to Her?

The prolonged stalemate had completely drained Olive's patience. She leaned against her own chest and pushed the knife inside forcefully.

Fresh crimson blood slid down the blade, dripping onto the ground.

The white carpet was now stained with the glaring color of red.

"Brandon, can't you even lie to her?" Mrs. Longman's voice trembled as she looked at Brandon, speaking softly.

Upon hearing Mrs. Longman's words, Brandon turned his head slightly and glanced at her.

With pleading eyes, Mrs. Longman looked at Brandon, hoping he would say something reassuring to prevent Olive from getting agitated.

However, Brandon remained silent for quite a while.

At this point, Olive's patience had already run out.

Unlike before, when she had been hysterically asking Brandon if he still loved her, she didn't repeat that question. Instead, she stared at Brandon for several seconds before suddenly turning around, stepping on a nearby chair, and then leaping out of the window.

There was no hesitation in her actions.

Mr. Longman and Mrs. Longman's startled cries were slightly delayed.

Even Brandon hadn't expected Olive to be so resolute, to just jump out like that.

For a few seconds, Brandon stood still, then quickly turned and hurried downstairs.

Thankfully, the Duncan family's building wasn't tall; it was a duplex.

When Brandon reached the ground floor, Olive was covered in blood. The knife in her chest hadn't penetrated deeply, and almost the entire blade was still outside. Brandon approached and examined Olive's wounds. After a quick assessment, he bent down, picked her up from the ground, and swiftly carried her to his car.

As he was about to leave, Brandon looked at Mr. Longman and Mrs. Longman. "Follow us."

With a flustered nod, Mrs. Longman complied.

Brandon wasted no time and quickly got into the car, driving Olive to the hospital.

However, Brandon hadn't anticipated encountering Sandy at the hospital.

He hadn't even considered the possibility that Sandy would be there at this moment.

The two of them locked eyes in silence.

Brandon opened his mouth, intending to say something, but when he tried to speak, he realized his throat was too dry. He struggled for a moment before managing to utter a few words, "I called you multiple times."

Sandy, not waiting for Brandon to finish, spoke on her own, her voice gentle and slow, enunciating each word deliberately. "I thought of surprising you, but when I arrived, what did I see? My stomach hurt, so I came to the emergency room. At that moment, I wondered if the baby wasn't behaving and wanted to leave us. I was lying in the examination room, feeling utterly devastated. I called you so many times, but you didn't answer, and even..."

Sandy paused for a few seconds before continuing, "Even just now, I thought you must be busy with work, that's why you didn't hear my calls. But right now, you're holding another woman with a terrified look on your face, full of concern. And here I am, feeling scared and alone."

"Brandon, I had no part in those online attacks against me, yet from your tone, it seems you think I masterminded it, which makes me wonder if we're really compatible. Is that why we have so many problems?" Sandy paused again, then took a couple of steps closer to Brandon, her voice barely audible. "Brandon, I think we should both calm down and wait..."

"Brandon, how is Olive? Is she okay?" Mrs. Longman's voice interrupted Sandy's words.

In no time, a middle-aged woman rushed over, grabbing Brandon's arm and anxiously inquiring, "Is Olive alright?"

A middle-aged man also approached, looking at Brandon with concern. "Brandon, how's Xiaoxi?"

The scene left Sandy bewildered, making her feel out of place, like an outsider.

She struggled to say what she had intended and, feeling out of sorts, turned to leave.

Brandon, about to follow Sandy, was abruptly stopped by Mrs. Longman. "Brandon, where are you going? Olive is still inside."

Brandon furrowed his brows. "Aunt, there are doctors here. Staying won't make a difference."

While Brandon was entangled with Mrs. Longman, Sandy had already left the hospital lobby.

As Brandon turned to follow her, she was nowhere to be seen.

In that instant, Brandon felt emptiness engulf him.

He instinctively reached for his phone to call Sandy, only to realize that his phone was still at the Duncan family residence.

With a sigh, he borrowed a passerby's phone and dialed Sandy's number.

However, when the call went through, there was no answer on Sandy's end.

Brandon's hand trembled as he ended the call, feeling utterly helpless. He then called Berton and asked him to replace Sandy.

After hanging up, Brandon thanked the passerby and headed back to his car.

Inside the car, he retrieved a spare phone, dialed Sandy's number again, and this time received a notification that her phone was switched off.

Brandon thought for a moment and then called Maya. "Sis-in-law, are you busy now? Could you do me a favor?"

Maya's voice came through the phone. "What is it? Tell me."

Brandon briefly explained the situation to Maya. "Sandy came to Viteto. She saw me taking Olive to the hospital. She seems to have misunderstood something."

After hearing Brandon's explanation, Maya responded softly, "I understand. I'll come over shortly. In the meantime, have your assistant help replace Sandy. Once we locate her, I'll go pick her up." Viteto wasn't a small town, and replaceing one person in it was no easy task. Maya alone wouldn't be able to locate her.

"Okay, I'll keep you posted. And please, don't tell Mom about this," Brandon added.

Maya agreed, "Got it."

Berton was known for his efficiency. Not long after Brandon hung up, Berton called back.

"Mr. Hawkins, we've found Miss Thompson. However, she's on her way to the airport. She bought a ticket back to Manches City."

Brandon's grip on the phone tightened. "Stop her. I'm on my way there."

"Understood."

Brandon hung up and changed his course toward the airport.

Halfway to the airport, Brandon's phone rang again.

It was a call from the Duncan family.

This alternate phone he was using was known only to a few people, including Olive.

Brandon had been using this number for years, not out of sentimentality, but because he rarely used it. It was often turned off, and he only used it when his main phone wasn't available.

So, when he saw Mr. Longman's call, Brandon wasn't surprised. After the phone had rung for a while, Brandon finally answered it.
