I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin) -
Chapter 405 Exposed
Benjamin didn't reply immediately, and Harper was upset.
The more she thought, the more unsettled she became, finally gathering the documents and leaving.
Harper had to pass by Frank's office, so Frank could see her leaving. After about half a minute, he called his secretary and asked, "Did Ms. Mitchell leave?" "Yes, Ms. Mitchell said she had something to attend to."
"Okay, you may go back to your work."
He waved his hand to dismiss the secretary and closed the door.
Still on the phone, he said, "When Benjamín focuses all his attention on explaining things to Harper, we can start the project on our end."
"Are you sure everything's arranged properly? Are you certain Benjamin won't suspect us?" asked the woman on the other end of the phone.
"Naturally. During this time, try to contact him as much as possible, bring up things related to a year ago, remind him of the favor you did for him, and keep your relationship close. Only then will Harper be disappointed in him," Frank said.
"He's been keeping his distance from me lately. I'm worried that if something goes wrong with the project, he'll have even less time for me," Lauren said.
"Lauren, at this stage, there's no turning back. We must move forward, or our goal will never be achieved," Frank reminded her.
He had waited too long for this day. As long as he could bring down Benjamin through this project, it wouldn't be long before the Martin family fell.
Harper left the company. Instead of having the driver follow her, she drove herself.
When she arrived at the Martin Group, she didn't rush out of the car. She sat in silence for a while.
She sighed before pushing the door open and entering the building.
When she arrived at Benjamin's office, he had just finished a meeting. He said, "I just saw your message. I went to the hospital this morning and chatted with Eleanor for a while. She was in good spirits. Dr. Gene said her recovery was going well. We just need to wait a few more days to confirm the indicators before the surgery." "Yeah, Dr. Gene also mentioned it to me," Harper said.
"What's wrong? Why no expression on your face? Upset because I didn't reply to your message?"
He took Harper into his arms. She smelled medicine on him. It was probably from dinner with Larry and the others today.
But she didn't replace it unpleasant. Instead, it gave her a special feeling.
She leaned against him and asked, "Benjamin, do you suspect that a year ago, Lauren's injury was caused by Eleanor?" Her voice was light, almost imperceptible.
Benjamin was startled, let go of her, and asked, "Who told you this?" "Never mind who told me. You just need to answer me. Yes, or no?" They gazed at each other.
"I can't give you an answer to that right now," Benjamin replied.
"Benjamin, is it that you can't give an answer, or you don't want to? Do you think Lauren's accident happened because I wanted to marry you, so you had an accident with her? But don't forget, when you had the accident with Lauren, we hadn't decided to get married yet." Harper couldn't stay calm. Just the thought of being suspected by him made her heart race.
She didn't like Lauren, but that was only after Lauren provoked her. Before getting married, she had no grudges against Lauren, so why would she do such a thing?
