Chapter 49

Alex‘ PÓV

“Yo bro you’ve missed so much practice what’s happened?!” Tyler runs over to us as we walkaround the grounds during lunch – passing

the football field.

“We’ve been busy.” I state bluntly, as he nods once with a rough idea of what that meant.

The people at school knew at this point that whenever we weren’t there, we had business, and itwas usually best for them to keep their noses out of it.

So with that, Tyler wishes us well and leaves – as simple as that as we carry on walking through theschool grounds looking for any unfamiliar faces.

Jace had managed to replace Holdens Facebook account on the drive over here, and luckily enoughhis profile picture consisted of who I’m guessing is Holden, Jason and Tommy. They seemed to beon, what looks like, a fishing trip as they all stand together smiling on a small boat.

After seeing their faces, my insides burned for pure revenge… it was similar to when you watchthose documentaries about the serial killers and psychopaths in the world, and you just know bylooking at them that they reek of sheer evil? This was the same.

I’ve done some pretty bad things in my time, but all of which could be easily justified, never have Iabused and bullied an innocent small gif just for fun!

My mind was consumed with conflicting thoughts… I wanted nothing more than to wrap my handsaround each of their scrawny n*cks – watching the colour drain from their faces – but Lottie didn’t

want that.

Maybe Lottie doesn’t have to know?

I then think back to Del’s plan which had a certain twisted logic to it. It made the most sense in theend, lure them in and then ‘accidentally‘ beat them to death, and be covered by the contract – thejobs fool proof.

We could even register the fight, therefore if it went to court, Freddie wouldn’t be pulled in forhosting illegal fights either? I could easily tip off the real ref to allow me the chance to get a fewextra deadly hits in before he steps in to call it? It was easy…

“Do you think they’ll be here already? Maybe they haven’t drove through yet…” Jace states, as wecover the front of the school again and it’s car park.

“How could we replace out?” Del questions, as I shrug in thought – eyeing everyone as they pass us.

“Maybe we could phone their school? Ask if they are there? If they arent then we could take that asthey are either on their way here or that they are already here?” I suggest, as Jace’s eyes perk up.

“Perfect let me call them up and I’ll just pretend to be one of their Dads!” Jace sniggers, beforeclicking a few buttons on his phone to replace the number.

Moments later Jace dials the number, his fingers tapping against the screen as we all wait withbated breath. The phone rang, and Jace put it on speaker, allowing us all to hear theconversation…

Hello how can I help?” The soft tone fills the air, as we move to a more quiet area.

“Hello, this is Mr. Mitchell.” Jace spoke in a deeper voice, attempting to imitate one of their fathers,as myself and Del tried to contain our laughs.

I’m calling to check if my boy, Holden, was present at school today – we’ve been having someproblems with him ditching lately.” He concludes, as the female receptionist listens carefully.

“Holden Mitchell? Give me two minutes and I’ll check his class registers for you!” She politely tellsus, as we wait.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line, before a response came backthrough…

“I’m really sorry, Mr. Mitchell, but Holden did not actually turn up for any of his classes this morning! He is marked as being on holiday.” The receptionist seems to panic slightly, as we all eye oneanother knowingly…

“Ah I see! His uncle will probably have him off on a fishing trip I would imagine! Nothing to worryabout let me make a few calls and he will be back at school soon.” Jace keeps his composure, notwanting the school to take the absence any further.

A rush of excitement and tension surged through us. They weren’t at school, which meant therewas a high chance they were already in town or on their way here at least. Del and I exchangedglances, a mixture of determination and anticipation in our eyes.

“Thank you for letting me know,” Jace cuts, doing his best to maintain the deep voice, before hesays a quick goodbye and ends the line.

As Jace ended the call, a surge of adrenaline coursed through my veins. The moment was fastapproaching… The hunt was on…

Since the moment I overheard Lottie telling Anna what they did, I have planned to replace them andpunish them for their actions, and now lucky for me they are walking right into our territory.

Those b*tches seriously thought they were coming here to replace Lottie, unaware that we wereactually looking for them in the same breath!

“We need to be prepared,” I say, my voice filled with a sense of urgency.

“We’ll go back and check on the girls and finalize the plan. It’s time to put an end to this and makesure they know not to ever come f**king back to this town again.” I finish, as we approach my car, clambering inside.

“So does that mean you like my idea? About the fight I mean?” Del questions, as I put the car intodrive – scanning the car park one last time before taking off.

“So far, it’s the best plan we have!” I agree, as Del and Jace smirk.

I’ll end them in the ring…

“We might need to call in backup… have more eyes working around town… we have a picture toshow the guys now too!” Jace adds, as we drive off in the direction back to Dels.

Maybe we should actually use our guys… it’s not like we bother them often… not since everythingfell quiet after what happened to my parents… I’m sure they won’t hesitate to help us out.

“I think you might be right… call them in.” I agree, as they both waste no time on tapping away ontheir phones to contact them.

I drive on, deciding to stop briefly at the cafe to grab the girls lunch, leaving Del and Jace back inthe car to contact our men. I felt guilty for having to put Lottie and Anna on full lockdown but I didn’twant Lottie to be sighted by them in town… it would make their job way

too easy.

They would stalk her and replace out where she’s staying, and I would rather give her a sense ofsecurity in Dels home than tarnish her safety.

I order them both Cajun chicken pasta to takeaway, along with two iced sponge cakes – can’t gowrong with a typical sponge cake.

I head back to the car, getting in, before Jace speaks-

“We contacted twelve of them, they are all coming over tonight at eight Jace confirms, as I smirk inaccomplishment.

Despite myself, Jace and Del usually doing jobs on our own these days it was comforting to knowthat the group were still there in emergencies.

Some of them were married with kids, some worked out of town a lot, others were at college… butthey would all still pull together for

me… in respect of my father.

They owe it to him…
