Chapter 71
Lottie’s POV
The morning light peeks through the small cabin window, casting a faint glow on the surroundings.
Anna and I are huddled together under the sheets, our bodies exhausted and minds still reelingfrom the events of the previous night. The air feels heavy with a mix of relief and lingering tension,
Alex sits on the chair in the corner, his expression focused and stern. His presence brings a senseof security, a reassurance that we are truly sale now.
“Morning doll…” Alex greets me when noticing my eyes, before he stands and approaches me,crouching down to my level. His deep blue eyes lock with mine, conveying warmth and protection.“You’re safe,” he concludes, and a smile tugs at the corners of my lips, despite the weariness.
“You need to rest today, okay? Nobody can hurt you anymore,” he continues, his voice gentle andsoothing. His touch on my hair is both tender and strong, as though he’s shielding me from theworld. The comfort he offers helps alleviate some of the lingering fear and uncertainty.
“We need to replace Tommy’s phone,” he then tells me, his voice steady and determined. “That couldbe the key to getting the evidence we need to ensure he stays behind bars.” The seriousness in histone resonates with the gravity of the situation. We have a chance to gather the proof that willexpose Tommy’s crimes and protect others from falling victim to him.
I nod in agreement, fully aware of the phone’s potential significance. The information it holds mightunravel the twisted web Tommy had spun. But first, we need to replace their truck, the missing link thatconnects everything together.
Alex looks at us, his eyes filled with determination and resolve. “I’ve already sent all of our menback to the farm this morning to scope the grounds. the truck can’t be far… as soon as they replace it,I’ll head down there myself and check the phone,” he states confidently. His unwaveringcommitment to justice fuels my confidence.
“What if… you see some terrible stull on there… I don’t want you to see what he did, I mumble, myvoice filled with a mix of concern and horror. The thought of seeing the evidence of my ownsuffering is unbearable.
“Don’t worry, doll. I have things under control, okay? I just want you both to rest up… take it easy….yesterday was long. One of us will be right here as you sleep too,” he comforts, his voice softening. His words reassure me that he will shield us from any further harm, even from the painful truthsthat
may emerge.
He really did handle the three of them… Not the way we had planned originally, but we got them inthe end… Now we just have to make sure they can’t come back. The weight of what we’veaccomplished settles upon me, mixing with a renewed determination to secure our safety andprevent them from ever threatening our lives again.
As Alex’s words of comfort linger in the air, a wave of weariness washes over me. The events of thepast few days have taken their toll, and I replace solace in the idea of rest. Anna and I exchangeglances, silently acknowledging the need to recuperate and gather strength for what lies ahead.
With a gentle touch, Alex rises from his crouched position and returns to his chair. The weight ofresponsibility continues to sit firmly on his shoulders, but he wears it with grace.
I nestle back into the warmth of the sheets, feeling a profound gratitude for the safety we’ve found –having Anna hark with us.
With each passing minute, my eyelids grow heavy. The fatigue seeps hack into my bones, beckoning me to surrender to the much–needed sleep. Anna’s breathing becomes steady andrhythmic, a soothing lullaby that eases the remnants of fear from my mind.
As I drift into slumber, my last conscious thought is of Alex. His unwavering dedication to our well–being, his unwavering strength that saved us from
the clutches of darkness.
In his presence, I replace the sanctuary I had always longed for.
I found my peace….
Alex POV

Chapter 71
The three bastards are being held downstairs, drugged up and bound to the walls with no route toescape.
I’ll keep them there until we can go to the cops… Anna’s father will have the best lawyers on thiscase in a flash after he hears what they did to his girl…
I smirk at the victory that was so very close, before I feel the vibrate of my phone from inside mypocket.
I sigh, before pulling it out, seeing it was a text from one of my men….
Alex we think we’ve found the track… they parked it in the middle of a corn field!
I read the text and grumble before typing a quick reply-
Of course they fucking did! I’ll be there soon. I inform him, before standing from the chair to replace laceand Del.
Jace and Del sit in the cabins living room, their expressions reflecting how tired they are on theinside. None of us can sleep until this shit is handled fully!
We exchange a brief nod of acknowledgement, a silent understanding passing between us of howdrained we felt after last nights intense events.
But It’s time to take the next step in our pursuit of bringing justice…
“Jace, I need you to stay here and keep an eye on Anna and Lottie,” I say, my voice firm but filledwith trust. “Make sure they’re safe. We’ll be back soon.”
Jace’s gaze meets mine in understanding. “Sure thing.” he responds, his voice steady. “I won’t bemuch use out there anyway feeling like this… I’ll need another coffee.” He groans.
They’ve found the truck, so all we need to do is search it, replace the damn phone, and gathereverything we can.” I tell them both, as they nod and sigh
Del and I gather our things before we make our way outside–taking my SUV with its newly addedbroken window
The moming air is cool against my skin, a stark contrast to the heat of anticipation burning withinme.
The sun rises higher in the sky, casting its warm glow with the more we drive…
“The truck was found in a cornfield, I inform Del as we speed off.
Del smirks, a glimmer of excitement in his eyes. They won’t escape this. We’ll tear that truck apartuntil we replace Tommy’s phone and the evidence we need to ensure he never hurts anyone again.Imagine their faces in court!” He laughs, as 1 smile at the thought.
I nod in agreement, a fire ignited within me.
As we drive back towards the farm, silence fills the car as 1 play the radio for a distraction. Theimportance of replaceing this phone hangs in the air.
After what feels like a longer journey compared to last night, we eventually reach the destination–seeing it for the first time in the daylight.
Del
Two of our men await us as we drive into the abandoned grounds, before I exit the car followed byD
“How far is it?” question, as he shrugs briefly.
*Not far at all… it’s up past the barn… you wouldn’t have had a chance looking for it last nightthough, it was way too dark!” He comments, as we begin to trudge our way up.
The stalks of com soon come into view, as they rise high on either side of the narrow dirt path, obscuring our view of the truck.
“It’s over here!” Another one of my men comes into view, before he calls out to us.
Sure enough, as we get closer, there it is. The navy blue pickup….
Together, we approach the truck, its presence a testament to the dark deeds committed by thethree.
With a shared sense of purpose, I smash the window–returning the favour, before we begin oursearch, tearing through the trucks compartments and

scouring every hiding spot possible.
The remnants of Tommy’s life as a criminal are strewn inside–weapons, drugs, and beer h
bottles shung around.
But our focus remains on replaceing Tommy’s phone–the evidence–filled key to justice. We siftthrough the discarded belongings, our hands working swiftly yet methodically…
Finally, beneath a pile of clothing under the backseat, I spot it–a familiar device that holds the powerto bring everything in his world crashing down…
“We fucking found it!” I exclaim, relief in my tone. Del’s face breaks into a victorious grin, mirroringmy own satisfaction….
“Now we have what we need,” Del declares, his tone resolute. “Let’s head back to the cabin andfigure out how to get into the device!” He laughs next, as I grumble – awaiting another boring driveback.
I pocket the phone, its weight a symbol of hope and vindication. Our path to justice is clearer now,but our journey is far from over.
The evidence we hold must be handled carefully, ensuring it reaches the right hands to deliver thejustice Anna and Lottie both deserve.
With renewed determination, we drive back to the cabin, where Jace remains patient in his duty towatch over Anna and Lottie.
The road stretches before us, but the knowledge that we are one step closer to unraveling the truthgives us strength.
“What do you think will be on there?” Del ponders, as we drive on once again after thanking ourmen for their help..
“We will soon replace out…
