Lottie’s POV

I skip down the staircase, feeling a rush of excitement for my first day back at cheer practice!

It had been three days since my house warming party, and I hadn’t even seen Anna since then! Keywanted to take her away to a fancy spa hotel for a couple of nights which only meant that wecouldn’t have our daily catch ups until she got back

It was fine though I guess, since Kev is a good guy and makes Anna happy, so he can have her allto himself for a day or two from time to time!

I reach the bottom of the steps, seeing Allex coming into view as he eyes me steadily–standing inhis work polo shirt and slacks,

“Where the fuck are you going dressed like that doll?” He complains, folding his arms across hischest as he squints at me slightly causing me to laugh

My outfit consisted of a pair of black booty shorts and an orange sports bra… typical cheer practicewear… but to Alex, it wasn’t enough coverage clearly!

“It’s my practice wear! I have my first day back at cheer today!” I chirp, twirling around jokingly in–front of him as he continues to glare – completely unamused

“Go and put something else on Lottie – that’s ridiculous – I’m not even at the school anymore tolook out for you either Alex states bluntly, causing my smile to drop from my face.

“W–What? Not I bought these sets specifically for cheer Alex! I want to wear it!” I argue back, likinghow the combo looked.

Since joining cheer last year with Anna, I found a new love for it. Cheer had helped me grow as aperson in more ways than one – especially in my body confidence. I was comfortable in my ownskin these days and it felt good showing off the areas that I wouldn’t dare to before….

“You could at least take it with you in your bag and wear it only in the gym! That way I’m not fuckingparanoid all day knowing you look that damn good!” He grunts, pulling a slow hand down his face inagitation

“You don’t have to freak out on me Alex! I think pretty much every guy at school knows that I’m offlimits these days! Half of them don’t even make eye contact with me in fear that you’ll replace out!” Istate, knowing it was true, as he simply rolls his eyes.

With that, I hear the toot of Anna’s car from outside–signifying that she was here to pick me up – asI lean over to grab my bag.

“You don’t even have to go to that shit school anymore! You can drop out now doll, I’ll take care ofyou! Alex continues the argument, following me to the door, as I sigh and turn on my heels to facehim again.

*Alex I like school! I never liked it back in my old town but I enjoy it with Anna! I have cheer toowhich you know I love! If any guy does or says anything inappropriate I’ll tell you ok? All of the girlswear stuff like this I’m not going to stick out to anybody anyhow!” I ramble, placing both of my handson either side of his stubbled face–feeling his jaw tense under my touch as he eyes me cautiously

“You better tell me! I replace out everything whether I’m there or not doll! I’ll pick you up at three andover my dead body will you be leaving the house dressed like that tomorrow morning you’ve beenwamed!” Alex commands, before kissing me passessively–which I respond to.

I kiss him back, enjoying the moment, before pushing lightly at his chest to put some spacebetween us.

I almost forgot that Anna was here….

“Ok I have to go!” I giggle, as he nods slowly and releases me from his embrace allowing me toopen the front door,

“Don’t forget to text me… or [1] tum up there and give you the biggest shown up ever doll… I meanit!” He threatens playfully, still meaning his words nonetheless, as I laugh over my shoulder–shrugging him off.

During my months of being with Alex, I learned just how to handle his tantrums and cold nature. Iknew that deep down he was harmless, well he was with me at least, and that he would neverintentionally hurt me in any way, shape or form.

I wave one last time to

him, before climbing into the passenger side of Anna’s car–grinning and hugging her across theseat excitedly.

‘I missed you!” I announce, as she laughs at my dramatics.

“It’s only been three days!‘ Anna laughs, as I pull back and allow for her to start up the car.

That pink and purple set is super cute on! Alex totally flipped out on me for wearing this one! Healmost made me go change if I hadn’t rushed out of there like I did.” I tell Anna as she cackles at mydilemma, driving off in the direction of the school.

Anna’s own cheer set was the same as mine, however her shorts were purple and sports bra pink.Alex seriously didn’t believe that all of the cheerleaders wore these to practice…

freaks out because he loves you… he’s probably feeling the insecurity sinking in now that he’s notat the school anymore too! He can’t keep watch on you twenty four seven now!” Anna speaks herthoughts with a chuckle as I nod in agreement.

That’s exactly what I think it is!

“Yeah definitely! But he’s the one who decided that he didn’t need school anymore! That doesn’tmean that I have to leave too!” I laugh, as Anna smilles and focuses on driving.

“But I guess with him dropping out, it’s actually worked in my favour considering the businesseshe’s started up and the house he’s built for us! I can’t complain!” I add, giving him credit foreverything he has achieved over the past year due to dropping out.

He was right… he didnt actually need school in order to succeed…

“Very true! The man is way smarter than I give him credit for! The three of them are!” Anna admits,causing me to laugh.

That they are!

“It’s weird not having any of them at school now! They just hang out at Alex‘ real estate office everyday which we still haven’t been to see yet either by the way!” Anna adds, as I think on her words.

Alex runs his own real estate company now, having converted a large office complex in the South oftown. Sure Tve seen many of his properties, but I haven’t actually been to the office building –seeing him in action – how he manages his growing staff team who mostly consist of his trustedgroup.

“I’ll have to ask him to take us one day! It would be good to see what they actually get up to overthere! I laugh, as Anna nods at my words – pulling into the school grounds

“Speaking of the three of them, what’s gotten into Del these days? Clara didn’t even look in mydirection at your house warming – but I prefer it that way!” Anna questions, taking her time onparking up the car.

“Well, Alex was telling me some pretty messed up stuff about Del and Clara! I know there’s more toit though, but he won’t budge yet. I begin, the gossip bursting out of me in waves having not seenAnna since the party.

Her interest is suddenly piqued, as she parks successfully, cutting off the engine before turning toface me fully now

“What do you know?! I knew something was off with them!” She pushes, as I nod knowingly.

“Clara is awful to him Anna! Don’t tell anyone that I told you this stuff, but Alex told me she evenslapped him!” I rush out the fact, watching the rage fall over Anna’s features as she drinks in my

words.

“SHE SLAPPED HIM? ON THE FACE?!” Anna fumes, as I nod frantically in confirmation – still indisbelief of the incident myself

“Who does that hoe think she is?!” Anna gasps loudly, as I hold a hand up to pause her in her rant.

“It gets worse Annal Apparently, she even pressed a cigarette into his hand whilst he was driving –burnt him with it and he nearly crashed the car!” I stutter out, with the same unsettling feelingreturning to my gut.

Anna’s mouth opens and closes for a few moments, her eyes wide and completely caught offguard.

“I will kill that bitch! That’s abuse! Who the hell does she think she is? Why hasn’t Del dumped heralready?!” Anna rages, speaking my thoughts exactly.

“That’s what I said! Alex just said that it’s complicated, and that he can’t tell me much more at themoment but he’s trying to help him through it! My

voice is low, saddened by the situation that our friend had wound up in.

I don’t know what’s fully going on with them… but I hope he fixes it soon….

The school bell rings out, officially announcing our first day back, which starts with four straighthours of cheer practice!
