Inner Woman
Road Trip

Suitcase packed

Essential items

A laptop, a cell phone

Vacation is a miracle

I don’t have to pretend

I’m anything but me

GPS to bring me home

Compass to spin

Perhaps the mountains?

Or the prairie flats where I’ve never been

To explore this country, spend time

with nature

snap pictures to remember

a soul stripped raw

open, healing

Stopping when I get there

I’ll know when I see it

To be alone

no one else to please

And spend each evening

writing what

begs for release

Summer or

Winter

The view is what matters

as a character chatters

in the landscape of my mind
