The sunlight shone on Callum's face, and Joseph noticed the changes in his expression. "Did youuncover something?"

"Just some family matters."

"Has Otto started contacting your daughter?"

"I have no idea. I've been pretty busy with some other stuff recently, but I did warn her."

Callum did not divulge to Joseph the information he just received. He calmed himself and pattedJoseph's shoulders. "How about giving up on your ex-wife and giving it a go with my daughterinstead?"

Although it would be Joseph’s second marriage, he was exceptional in various aspects. If he gottogether with Callum's daughter, she would not be losing out.

Joseph's face stiffened. He replied seriously, "Mr. Callum, you know that I only care about Chloe."

Hearing this, Callum knew that Joseph had made up his mind. He simply chuckled and said nothingelse.

On his way home, Joseph received a text. He opened it and found a brief but encouragingmessage.

[Sir, Mr. Harold reacted. He should be waking up tomorrow night at the latest.]

The resort shareholders had a group chat. The next day, Noah noticed a few shareholders leavingthe chat. He felt something amiss, so he called them and asked about it.

"Apologies, Mr. Noah. We sold our shares to Mr. Joseph. He bought them at ten times the marketvalue. We just couldn't resist. Please be considerate. We're only in small businesses, after all."

Noah's voice turned icy. "You guys came to me several times and begged me to buy the shares.Now, you sold them so casually. You guys are indeed businessmen who put profit before everythingelse."

"Mr. Noah, don’t say it like it’s such a bad thing. We don't own as many properties as you. We haveto earn a living somehow."

"All right then. There’s no need for us to work together in any respect related to the Sullivans in thefuture since you decided to end the cooperation."

Noah then hung up since he could not bother to say much more.

Chloe had heard most of the conversation. "Does this mean Joseph has more influence regardingthe resort now?"

"Yes, logically speaking." Noah smoothed her messy bangs, then comforted her, "It's fine. It's just aresort. We don't have to care about it too much."

"I know but I don't want to be at his mercy. He's aiming for me. If we just let him do what he wantswith the resort, he'll pull something even more outrageous next time."

Noah pondered. "What do you want to do then? Tell me."

"It’s better for us to attack instead of being passive."

Noah’s brows knitted together. "No, let’s just drop it and pretend nothing happened." He did not likethe thought of her meeting Joseph again. The more they interacted, the more likely it was for thepast to be exposed.

However, Chloe ignored him and formulated a plan. She did not want someone to be burdenedbecause of her.

When Callum got back to the royal castle, he sought out his wife, Carolina Musgrave. He then toldher about everything that had happened between him and Luciana.

Hearing his story, Carolina's face paled. "You have a child with another woman?"

"Yes, but this all happened before I got to know you. I promise I didn’t cheat on you."

Carolina extricated herself from his embrace. No woman would be at ease to learn that her husbandhad an illegitimate daughter. She braced herself and asked, "You found the child?"

"Yes, I did. Felix sent me the information but I haven’t read it yet. But if you don't want toacknowledge her status, I'll have Felix give her an exorbitant sum to keep quiet."

Carolina knew that it was not Luciana's fault and that she was just a victim, so she found it hard tomake a decision. "Let's read the information first."

Callum simply nodded as he was not hard-pressed for an answer. He then opened the file Felix hadsent him.
