Though there was no response from inside, he heard faint footsteps and the door opened. Chloehad calmed herself after a few hours, and her face showed no signs of distress. However, Noahnoticed the pen drive on the table and his heart skipped a beat.

"Are you working?"

"It's not work."

"Then what is it?"

"Joseph gave it to me. Do you want to see it?"

Chloe stared directly into Noah's eyes, trying to detect any signs of deception. However, his eyesremained as pure and clear as water. Despite being in the professional world for many years, theystill held a hint of innocence, making him look like a fresh upstart. No matter how she looked at it,he did not seem like someone who would play tricks.

Noah rubbed his hands together. He sobered up as he understood what she meant. "All right, let'swatch it."

Chloe raised an eyebrow, suddenly feeling a sense of confusion. She just could not understand him.Nevertheless, she reinserted the pen drive and clicked play. The video was short and it ended injust a few minutes.

Noah remained calm throughout the entire video and sighed deeply, "Yes, it's true. I did it."

Chloe's heart trembled, "But why? Michael never did anything to us."

"Because he likes you. He was willing to forgo any reward just to work with you. To eliminate futuretroubles, I chose to crush that idea in its infancy. I did nothing wrong."

It served Michael right for trying to sow discord between him and Chloe, and for deliberatelyinforming him about Joseph's arrival. If Michael had wanted to avoid trouble, he should not havemessed with his relationship.

"What are you talking about, Noah?"

As an adult, Chloe was aware of Michael's excessive enthusiasm toward her, but it did not mean hedeserved such severe consequences. There was a high probability that Michael's feeling toward herwas just a fleeting infatuation. Using such an extreme approach to deal with him was unjust.
