Chloe clenched her fists and stayed calm. "The guy called me a few times before, so I rememberthe number."

Noah took his gaze off Chloe and turned the steering wheel. "That number doesn't seem like asales call. Maybe someone has an urgent matter. Why don't you call back to check?"

"That's fine. If it's important, they'll call again."

As soon as she finished speaking, her phone started ringing again, causing a chill to run down herspine. She would surely be busted if she answered Cyrus' call in front of Noah, but what excusecould she use to reject the call?

The vibrating of the phone felt like the music of death—relentless and continuous.

Noah stepped on the brakes, bringing the car to a stop by the roadside. He looked at Chloe andsaid, "Go ahead and pick it up. It might be something urgent."

At this point, Chloe had no choice but to answer. She reluctantly retrieved her phone from her bag,hoping it would stop ringing. Alas, her wish was not granted. As she held the phone, it continued tobuzz.

She looked at the screen and found it was the same number. Under Noah's watchful gaze, shereluctantly answered the call. She took the initiative and coldly asked, "Hello, who’s this?"

There was a pause on the other end, followed by barely audible breathing. A chill ran down Chloe'sspine. She knew that Cyrus was doing this on purpose. He was like a predator lurking in the dark,testing his prey's limit.

Noah leaned into Chloe, and in this confined space, he could hear everything the person on theother side of the line said. Chloe froze as her mind raced. The next second, the voice on the other

end said, "Hi, I'm Lauda from Riverside Homes. Would you be interested in buying a propertyhere?"

When the sweet and charming voice reached Chloe's ear, she froze. She pulled her phone awayfrom her ear and rechecked the number on the screen. It was Cyrus' number.

Seeing how distracted she looked, Noah took her phone and asked, "Where is Riverside located?"

"The Chandile district. If you'd like to come and take a look, I can drive over and pick you up."

"That’s not necessary. I'll head there when I’m available."

"All right then, thank you for your time."

As the call ended, Chloe put on a smile as she put her phone away. "See? I told you it was thatannoying real estate agent."

Noah restarted the car and said languidly, "Chandile is pretty close to Exotic Star. After we getmarried, we do need a place to call our own. Getting a place there wouldn't be a bad idea."

Chloe was stunned for a moment before she replied, "Okay."

When they got back to the Sullivan manor, Chloe went to her bedroom. While Noah was talking toDesmond downstairs, she called Cyrus back.

"I'm sorry. Seems like I called at a bad time earlier." Cyrus chuckled politely.

Gritting her teeth, Chloe said, "I know you did it on purpose. Are you watching me fromsomewhere?" She did not believe in coincidences. That call was meant to assert his dominance,implying she had better get her act together.

"I wasn't watching per se, but I did happen to see you and Joseph meeting privately," he replied.

"I've made up my mind. I'm not going to work with you."

"Wow…" Cyrus whistled. "You’re going to sacrifice your own child for your love? Impressive."

"It's none of your business. Nobody gets to tell me what I have to do," Chloe said angrily and hungup the call. Duskfall was the source of her suffering, so how dare he mocked her?

Fortunately, Cyrus stopped calling her.

Soon, the day of the press conference arrived. Reporters and journalists from well-knownmagazines and various media outlets gathered outside Exotic Star. They all carried with them theircameras and equipment and engaged in lively discussions.

"Do you know what they’re going to announce today?"

"Not sure, but according to my insider, Desmond’s going to formally introduce someone today."

"Is it his heir? Wait, that's not right. Noah is his heir, and Desmond never had any children."

"We'll replace out soon. It's about to start."

Fifteen minutes later, before Desmond could lead Chloe onto the stage, a mysterious personsneaked into the scene and whispered something to one of the reporters.

The reporter widened his eyes in shock. "Are you sure?"

Grinning from ear to ear, the mystery man said confidently, "I'm telling the truth. Chloe is the royalfamily's illegitimate child."
