I file into my penthouse, and everyone follows suit. “There are empty rooms downstairs, food andbeer in the refrigerator and hard liquor in the cellar; make yourselves at home, but just don't breakmy shit,” I tell the Rogues and Zephyr while walking towards the kitchen.

Fucking starved, I headed home and invited them all over to stay here before we leave for Brooklyntomorrow. I haven't been able to eat much the past few weeks, but now that I know we have achance to get Lily back tomorrow, I am ravenous.

"Where's Dimitri?” Cain asks and gestures for a beer from the fridge when he sits down at thekitchen island.

"He went with Kai to the estate; the witches want to put a 48-hour binding spell on his beast untilthey can figure out why he can't control it yet,” I say, taking a seat opposite him after orderingtakeout. “Hope you guys like pizza.”

Cain scoffs. “We're literal strays; we'll eat anything.”

I shake my head at this and take a swig of the beer in my hand. Dimitri and Zephyr will be stayinghere to keep an eye on Cat and the witches at the estate, along with Nova. Kai didn’t want to leaveher alone here since Cat, and she got along after she verified Nova's stories. We don't usually inviteRogues into the estate, so Cat must feel strongly about the little librarian.

"Why did Stefan take your mate if she’s pregnant with your pup?” Cain suddenly asks, snapping meout of my thoughts.

I sigh and lean forward on my forearms. “Lily was scentless before, so both of us never felt the fulleffect of the Bond Sighting. There was an attraction, but neither of us acted on it, and when weeventually did, she turned tail and ran.”

“Pussy,” Cain says with a smirk, and I bark out a laugh.

"Yeah, I was, but before I claimed her with a bite, she had told me she met her mate and was goingto leave the pack, so me fucking her at the time was considered taboo,” I say. The guilt I felt backthen was eclipsed by the pain in my chest when she rejected the pack.

"Oh, heavy; claiming another wolf's mate would have started a pack war and made her infertile.” Hesays.

I nod. “On point. She rejected the pack the same night, went to Russo's place, and has been heldthere ever since. I only saw her when he called us for help with his pack warriors, but looking at itnow, I think he wanted me to walk in on him fucking her and seeing her pregnant.”

“Fuck,” Cain says, his mouth hanging open in shock at my words

“You can say that again. I would have left it at that and moved on if she didn’t whisper for me tohelp her. That's when I knew something was wrong and that the child in her womb was mine. I alsoremembered that I claimed her on the night of a full moon; Volkov wolves have to claim their matesunder a full moon, or the Anchor won't take.”

Cain shakes his head and scoffs. “I doubt you would have moved on since you can't reject ananchored bond, asshole. I think Russo wanted to get off on you seeing her being fucked by anotherman; why else would he have invited you? Help with his warriors? Please, the fucker is a demon.”“Looking at it now, I think so as well. In any case, I'll be the one to kill the fucker tomorrow foreverything he did to her.” And I am prepared for anything that comes after killing him, even if myso-called soul will be tainted.

Lily will be free; that is all that matters.

“Food's here!” Zephyr calls and heads towards the elevator to collect the six large pizzas. Food forbeasts, what can I say?

I couldn't sleep that night at all, even after the fuckers calmed down with their shit and passed out.Sleep wouldn't come, but I slept like the dead and had a dreamless sleep when it eventually did.“Ready?” Cain asks as we make our way to the basement parking lot the next day.

"Are you really asking me that, fucker?” I raise my eyebrow at him, but he only smirks.

Kai is already waiting by the Bentayga when we arrive, dressed in all black same as me, with hisBerettas and silver knives strapped in their holsters. I don’t know why he bothers when he’s literallya fucking Lycan who could tear a head clean off.

Then again, I doubt he wants to let the beast loose.

He nods his head when he sees us approach and crosses his arms. “The Horsemen are nearly thereand waiting for our arrival. Rogues, you need to join them and clear the path for us to head towardsthe demon and take him out before we rescue Lilith.”

“We're ready,” Cain says.

“Kon, you're up in the SUV with me; we can't shift and run all the way there or use the bikes becausewe'll need to bring the captured people back here,” he says, then tosses three keys to Cain andpoints behind him. “You and your Betas can use those over there; don't fuck them up; they're new.”I only then see the three additional MTT420 superbikes next to Kai's Ninja.

“Christ in a thong,” Cain exclaims when he sees the sexy black and red bikes. Fuck, I would love totry them out as well, but now is not the time.

“That's all; put these in and go ahead. Let us know what you see and what is happening, and if yoususpect something is off, you're to tell us immediately.” Kai says and hands us all ear pieces.

With a final fist bump, we board and take our leave for Cat's old estate with nothing but bloodluston our minds.

As soon as I step into the Bentayga, that shitty feeling grips my heart, and I see why; the dagger isright on the dash.

“I fucking hate that thing,” I mutter as we drive away.

"What you feel when you see it doesn't compare to what I see once the lid is removed. All thosechildren... ripped from their mother's arms just as they were born, then dissected, exsanguinated,and their bodies burned to ash. I can smell it too.” Kai says, white-knuckling the steering wheel.

I blink. “It's not a fucking competition, you know. The point is it sucks.” I say, grabbing the shittyweapon off the dash and opening the lid.

He chuckles when I say this and shakes his head. “Sorry, brother, but can you not do that right now?It gets amplified when it's not covered.”

“Fuck, sorry,” I say and put the box at my feet. “When the time comes, don't stop me from killing thefucker, don't try to do it yourself no matter what you see. The kill is mine.”

Kai breathes out a sigh. “I promise,” he says, and we continue our drive.

I know Kai will want to murder the fucker himself if something happened to Nikolai, so I have tomake it clear that this death will be mine.
