Lenny and Scarlett
Chapter 6

About twenty years ago, Nolan Brown married into the family of Scarlet's mother and lived with her family. Scarlet's grandfather thought that Nolan was a really capable and honest man. He had trusted him enough to marry off his only daughter to him and help him with his career.

Unexpectedly, as soon as Scarlet's grandfather passed away, Nolan revealed his true colors. He got his hands on the properties of Scarlet's grandfather and brought home his mistress, Kyra Brown, and his illegitimate daughter, Colleen Brown.

Then, Nolan demanded to be divorced from Scarlet's mother, which put an emotional burden on her so heavy that she fell ill.

While Scarlet's mother was in the hospital, Kyra took Scarlet's little brother out to buy something, but her little brother never made it home.

The vicious woman had been maintaining all these years that Scarlet's brother really just disappeared himself, but Scarlet and her mother didn't believe it.

Scarlet's brother, who was two years younger than she was, had been missing since then and for no logical reason.

Heartbroken, Scarlet's mother finally agreed to divorce Nolan. Then, she and Scarlet moved out and lived on their own.

Last year, Scarlet's mother reached the end stage of her illness. Knowing that she would be gone soon, she decided not to waste money on the medical fees anymore and went to visit the Foster family.

In the past, Scarlet's mother had saved the life of Lenny's grandmother, and the old lady had promised her that she could ask her for help if anything happened.

Scarlet's mother's dying wish was for Scarlet to be taken care of when she passed.

She wanted Lenny to marry Scarlet. If Scarlet married into a rich family, no one would dare bully her.

According to the agreement between Scarlet's mother and Lenny's grandmother, Lenny and Scarlet got married after her mother passed away.

The Brown family had been ignoring Scarlet for many years. The moment they found out that she had married into the Foster family, they immediately started harassing her and demanding the money that they paid for her mother's medical bills.

At that time, Scarlet was still an inexperienced and innocent girl. Lenny was abroad, and she had no one to back her up. She didn't dare to knock on Lenny's grandmother's door, fearing that the old lady would be annoyed and drive her out.

The Brown family had taken away all the wedding presents she got from the Foster family. When they knew that Lenny didn't take Scarlet seriously, and that they could no longer get any benefits from her, t

hey started treating her like she didn't exist.

That was why the moment they met again, Scarlet immediately told Colleen to leave her alone. She didn't want to have anything to do with the Brown family at all.

Scarlet began walking away, but Colleen grabbed her clothes and started dragging her. Reflexively, Scarlet covered her belly.

Seeing this, Colleen sneered. She knew what was weighing on Scarlet's mind.

She hurled Scarlet into the car. With her hands on her belly, Scarlet decided not to fight back. If she got hurt, then her baby would get hurt as well.

At last, Colleen took Scarlet back to the Brown family's residence. At the sight of Scarlet, Nolan and Kyra felt happy and angry at the same time.

"I heard that you and Lenny got divorced," Kyra said.

"It has nothing to do with you." Scarlet spoke coldly.

She put her hands on her stomach and looked at her father and stepmother warily.

"Scarlet, I'm sure that you're hurting right now. Your mother passed away, and now your husband left you. But you're still a daughter of the Brown family. Move back in with us, and we'll take care of you. What do you say?"

Getting no response from Scarlet, Kyra added, "You look tired. Drink some tea first. I've asked someone to clean up your room and decorate it according to your preferences. You can go upstairs and see if you like it or not."

Kyra spoke with a smile. She took the initiative of bringing the tea to Scarlet, but the latter refused to soften her attitude toward her.

"Since when have you cared at all about my preferences?"

"How could you talk to my mother like that? How dare you! You used to have the Foster family as your backer. How could you have the audacity to be so arrogant when you are no longer one of them?" Colleen cut in angrily.

"What are you talking about, Colleen? Scarlet is still your sister. We are family."

"We're not family. We have nothing to do with each other. I have to go to school later. I don't have time for this nonsense."

After saying that, Scarlet was about to stand up, but unexpectedly, Kyra pressed her down and slapped her across the face. The gentle, motherly smile that Kyra had on moments earlier now disappeared without a trace.

"Damn you! Who do you think you are? You don't want the tea I so graciously offered you? Then don't drink it!"

With these words, Kyra splashed the hot tea on Scarlet's face. Scarlet's face burned so badly that her head started spinning with rage.

Then, Kyra took out a property transfer contract. "Sign this, or I'll break your legs!"
