Lost in Mr. Preston's Temptation
Chapter 57 High Fever

Watching Baxter's fleeing back, Clara curiosity grew even stronger.

She had heard that Ethan's mother was not in good health. Two years after giving birth to Ethan, she had given birth to a daughter.

However, her daughter had been an early birth, and she had died before she reached the age of one. Ethan's mother didn't have any more children, and thus Ethan was that wife's only child. Who did the Prestons have, that they would be willing to lay hands on Ethan, and that Ethan would still be willing to indulge?

What's more...

Maybe it was the effects of drawing too much blood this afternoon, in any case it was almost early in the morning, and Clara was sleepy. She went back to the bedroom and fell asleep.

When she was asleep, she gradually started feeling uncomfortable. It was as if someone was covering her mouth and nose, leaving her unable to breathe.

She desperately wanted to open her eyes, but no matter how hard she tried she couldn't open them.

Baxter squatted outside the ward and smoked two cigarettes. Looking at the time, he figured that Clara had already fallen asleep, and only then did he go back in.

He had not forgotten Donny's instructions. He quietly went into her bedroom and checked on Clara.

He silently criticized himself: He had experienced losing large amounts of blood several times before, but he had always pulled through in the end. Clara had only lost 300CC, what could happen? After entering the bedroom, Baxter found that Clara was curled up on the bed, her face was red, and she was breathing abnormally

Baxter's expression changed and he quickly walked over. "Clara?"

He checked the temperature of Clara's forehead with his hand.

Her forehead was so hot that he reflectively withdrew his hand and immediately called George.

While waiting for George to come over, Baxter found that Clara's condition was even more serious than he had already thought. Her whole body was soaked in sweat, as if she had been fished out of the water and she also had a nosebleed. Baxter couldn't help from frowning.

A few minutes later, George, who had been staying in the hospital, hurried over with a nurse.

Seeing Clara like this, his face suddenly became very ugly. He immediately ordered the nurses to prescribe medicine for her and went to the bed to check on her.

Baxter who was standing against the wall watched from a distance as George and the nurses worked hard. Doubts rose in his heart.

About half an hour later, Clara's abnormal redness and fever finally faded. Her breathing also returned to normal.

Looking at this, George finally wiped the sweat off from his forehead.

"Dr. Delon..." Seeing that George had finished, Baxter wanted to ask him a question, however George was unhappy and pushing him away left.

Baxter didn't understand why he had been pushed away just then.

He hadn't upset George, had he? However, looking at George's appearance, he had seemed to be unhappy.

After the nurse also left, Baxter walked forward and looked at Clara. She was sleeping soundly, and her breathing was calm. In the small cart next to her, there was a silver watch.

Baxter thought that George had put it down there and had forgotten to take it with him when he left. So, he picked up the watch to bring to George.

As soon as he left the ward, he vaguely heard George angry voice coming from the corner of the corridor. He seemed to be on the phone with someone.

His hesitated, and then walked over.

"Before you said she was a backup, in case there was a problem, but in the end, you fucking changed your mind again!"

"Didn't I tell you about her health?"

"Don't explain! I'm a fucking doctor. Your actions have tarnished my career!"

George gave the man on the other side of the phone a lashing. After he had hung up the phone he turned around and saw Baxter standing not far away. He didn't know how long Baxter had been there.

"Is there a problem?" George asked in a bad mood.

"George, did you leave your watch in the ward?" Baxter walked over and handed the watch to George. He also couldn't help but ask, "Who tarnished your career?" Baxter's senses were sharper than the average person.

However, when George had first started speaking, he hadn't been as angry as he was now, and had been trying to speak softly. Baxter had also been rather far away, so he had only heard the last sentence. Baxter asked again, "Were you calling Ethan? “

Seeing that he hadn't heard much, George's brow loosened a bit, and he took the watch. "It's okay, I'm just scolding a patient who filed a report against me. When you keep watch tonight, if you replace Clara Rowan uncomfortable, call me."

After saying that, George turned around and walked away.

Baxter stood there until George entered the elevator, the doubts in his heart increasing.

He guessed that George had been talking to Ethan just now.

Why did Clara suddenly have such a high fever and a nosebleed after just drawing a little blood? Why was George so angry he had called to scold Ethan?

Could it be... that there was something wrong with Clara?
