Frank gazed at his father, his eyes ice cold.

He thought, “They got the news so quickly.” Frank shot a sharp look at Steve. “I’m not the only son in ourfamily.” Three years ago, he had made up his mind to start his own business because he wanted to freehimself from the arranged marriage. He wouldn’t marry anyone before he found Jodie. What was more,he was still waiting for his mother to come back. So, he was suggesting that Steve should take his placeto marry Ann. “It’s none of my business,” Steve opposed. Ann was just an adopted daughter of theChaney family. He would not clean up this mess for Frank. As a Taylor, he could have a better choice.Many women had a lovelier face and better family background than Ann. What was more, Frank, whohad always been against Carlo, might not be able to inherit anything from Carlo. “Frank, the Chaneyfamily only recognizes you as Ann’s future husband. Ann is a good girl. She likes you too. You shouldn’tlet her down,” Carlo persuaded. His tone softened. He admitted Frank was more capable than him.Actually, he cared about Frank very much. However, Frank’s manner towards Carlo was as cold as ice.He showed a mocking smile and announced, “I won’t marry Ann. You’d better drop the idea.”

Frank finished his words and turned around, heading to the third floor. He came back tonight just to gethis stuff. “Frank! Frank!” Carlo called at Frank’s back, but Frank didn’t look back. Carlo felt miserable tohave such a bad relationship with his son. “Alright. Don’t you know him? He just comes to piss you off,”Gina said deliberately. Eliza took the opportunity and handed a glass of water to Carlo. “Dad, don’t beangry. We have got used to Frank. Don’t be mad at him. That’s bad for your health.” Carlo sighed heavily.The more he grew older, the more he missed the old days with Mila. Mila was a good cook. No matterhow late he came back, she would prepare a big dinner for him. However, the warm home did not existafter Mila left. Frank went to the third floor, took out the card from the pinhole camera that he hadinstalled, and put a new one in it. He hid the camera and changed his clothes. Then he walkeddownstairs. Carlo heard the sound and frowned at Frank. He asked, “Frank, it’s so late. Where are yougoing?” Frank replied shortly, “I still have things to do.” Then he left without looking back again. Carlo

stood up and said helplessly, “You all go to sleep. Leave me alone.” Then he walked towards the studyGina looked at his back with mixed feelings. Steve narrowed his eyes with a malicious expression.

He said huskily, “Mom, Frank is so arrogant!” Gina gave a cold snort. “He doesn’t depend on your fatheranymore. So, he gets more presumptuous.” She looked out of the window, plotting against Frank in herheart.
