Murray had a splitting headache every time Shelby went on one of her tirades.

And just the mention of "Roseanne" made him tense up involuntarily.

After coming back from a trip to the Maldives, Murray had sent her countless texts from various numbers, all of which vanished into thin air.

He had no choice but to go to her place, not once, not twice, but multiple times...

The frustration of not being able to replace someone anywhere was driving him up the wall.

Little did he expect to hear about her again from Hertha...

"What did you say? What's this about Roseanne?"

"Of course, it's about her! She ranked first! First, you hear me?! Ms. Payne is only taking three students this year, and I ended up being the fourth!"

If it weren't for Roseanne, she would have moved up a spot.

The feeling of getting so close after 99 steps, only to fail at the last one, left her frustrated, resentful, and defiant.

Murray was stunned. "... You mean, she got in?"

"Yeah! And with flying colors! Happy now? She leaves you, thrives, and now she's about to be a graduate student at Kingswell University! Regretting now? Why didn't you keep a closer eye on her then? Letting her out to ruin my chances!" As Hertha spoke, she broke down in tears.

"You had her caged for six years, couldn't you have just held on a little longer? Now look, your lady has flown the coop, and she'll only get further away from you..."

"Shut up!" Murray, like a beast provoked, fixed her with a menacing glare, "If you didn't do well, it's on you, nobody else! I don't want to hear this again, or else—"

The room fell eerily silent, Hertha frightened by his gaze, and it was only when Beverley came in that the tension was somewhat diffused.

She scanned the mess on the floor, frowned slightly, and then seeing her daughter cowering, felt a mixture of dissatisfaction and anger.

She had overheard the siblings' conversation from outside.

Roseanne actually made it into grad school!

When Beverley had seen her at the library, she thought Roseanne was just putting on airs, trying to ingratiate herself, never imagining she was serious about grad school, let alone that she'd actually succeed! Kingswell University, first place...

With that thought, Beverley couldn't help but sneer. So what?

No matter how well-read or highly educated, she wouldn't dream of entering the doors of the Sherwood family.

"Your brother is right if you didn't succeed, just try again. Throwing a tantrum won't change anything. Do you think it'll make Roseanne fail? How did I end up with such a foolish daughter?"

Hertha clenched her fists, her face a mask of resentment, "I prepared for this exam for two whole years, and Roseanne only reviewed for six months. How could she pass so easily? There must be something fishy going on! No, I need to confront her about this!" With that, she stormed off.

Murray rubbed his temples, too tired to deal with the mess, and turned to leave as well.

Beverley wanted to leave too, but she was left to clean up the aftermath.

One by one, they all seemed to come with grievances...

...

Hertha had been there once before and had the navigation history on her phone. She drove straight to Roseanne's building.

The more she thought about it on the drive, the angrier she got. By the time she got out of the car, she had already planned out her confrontation.

But the next second, she saw Roseanne laughing and walking shoulder to shoulder with a man into the building.

Hertha gasped.

Wasn't that one of the interviewers from the re-examination day, a professor from Kingswell University-

Owen Reynolds?!
