Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1405: Just a Gift

"Mom, you're so biased."

Alvaro covered his chest and played hurt.

At that moment, Bonita walked in with a bowl of soup and laughed, "Did you really think Mom didn't have your share of the stew?".

Actually Alvaro was only joking, and now seeing his wife come in with the soup, he said playfully, "It's still my wife who loves me the most." "Brat, if you say so, then don't drink my stew." Mrs. Gloria looked at him with mock disgust.

Alvaro sketched a complacent smile, "Mom, I was just kidding."

Mrs. Gloria gave him a sidelong glance, "I was joking too."

Alvaro picked up Bonita's bowl and finished it in three gulps, rubbing his stomach with satisfaction. "Mom's stew is just as good."

"Brat, it's too late to kiss my ass." Ms. Gloria said with a smile.

At this comment, Bonita let out a guffaw and even the corners of Marcos' mouth curved into an unpronounced curve.

...

After the engagement, at the express request of Baggott and Dulce, Edwina took Bonnie with her and moved into the former home of The Khan family.

"Edwina, what happened before was my fault, don't worry, from now on your father and I will treat you as our own daughter."

These were Edwina's words on her first day in The Khan Family, when Dulce took her by the hand.

She could feel that she really wanted to be good to her.

Edwina put aside her worries and settled in to live with Bonnie at The Khan Family.

That night, when she got home, Dulce took her into the living room and sat her down.

Baggott was also there.

Seeing both old men with smiles on their faces, Edwina couldn't help but smile as well, "Anything good happening, Mom and Dad?" Since moving in, the two elders had asked Edwina to change her name, at first she found it awkward, but later it came naturally to her. Dulce and Baggott looked at each other and asked with a smile, "Do you know how to drive?"

Edwina nodded, "Yes. What's up?"

"Do you want to go to work?" asked Dulce again.

At the mention of work, Edwina's eyes lowered, hiding the loss in her eyes, the smile on her lips faded a little, "Of course I do."

She had been looking for a job for a while, but couldn't replace anything suitable.

Looking at her loss, Dulce felt a little sad and a little guilty.

She would lose her job because of the consequences of the then cancelled marriage between The Terrazas family and The Boone family. "Edwina, this is for you."

Edwina looked up, only to see Baggott holding a folder.

"What is this?" asked Edwina, puzzled.

Baggott smiled slightly, "You'll know when you see it."

Edwina took it and opened it to see that it was a transfer contract.

And it was the one from the restaurant where she had worked before.

"This is ..." Edwina looked at Baggott with confusion written all over her face.

"Your mother and I have bought the place, and you will own it from now on."

"Buy it?" Edwina was surprised, "Dad, Mom, why are you buying the store?"

Dulce patted her hand, "I know you like your old job, but if you go back to work, I'm afraid you'll be aggravated. So why don't you and I buy the whole store." "Dad, Mom, you ..." Edwina hadn't expected them to be so kind to her and was so moved for a moment that she didn't know what to say.

Seeing her tears welling up, Dulce wiped them away and said softly, "Silly girl, you're part of The Khan Family, it's only fair that Mom and Dad treat you right." "Thank you, Mom and Dad." Edwina squeezed the paper in her hand, felt the weight of the gift.

"There's another gift."

Dulce said, pulling out a car key and shoving it into her hand.

"Mom, this is ..." Edwina looked at the car keys in her hand and tears welled up in her eyes again.

How many surprises they had to give her in one night.

First a store and now a car.

"With a car, it'll be easier for you to pick up Bonnie and get to and from work." said Dulce.

Edwina sniffled and lifted her head, "Mom, Dad, thank you really."

"Silly girl, don't cry, go upstairs and rest early after dinner so you can start work tomorrow." Dulce said as she helped her wipe away her tears. Edwina nodded, "I won't let you and daddy down."

Dulce smiled, "We all believe in you."

Edgar came home late, thought Edwina was asleep and gently opened her bedroom door only to see her sitting on the end of the bed. "Why are you still awake?" Edgar walked in.

Edwina turned her head and smiled helplessly, "I couldn't sleep."

"What's wrong?" Edgar sat on the edge of the bed and looked at her worriedly.

Edwina shook her head, "Nothing. I just think your parents are too nice to me."

Edgar was surprised, "Is that why you couldn't sleep?"

"Yes." Edwina took a deep breath, "You know what they gave me today?" "What?"

"A tent and a car." Edwina felt as if she'd had a dream and was still a little out of it. Edgar laughed, "Don't think too much about it, it's just a gift from them to you." Seeing that he wasn't at all surprised, Edwina frowned slightly, "You knew all along?"

"Of course I knew." Edgar nodded.

"Then why didn't you tell me sooner? I would have told them not to send such an expensive gift." Edwina gave him a disgruntled look.

"It was a token of their appreciation." Edgar took her hand in his, "Take it."

"What if I can't carry the tent?" Edwina feared that if she didn't run the store well, she would lose face with The Khan Family, and that would be a real problem.

"I'm still here, aren't I?" Edgar smiled and reassured her, "I'll help you."

Edwina was relieved by his words, "That's good."

Edgar smiled and hugged her, his palm stroking her soft hair. "Don't feel guilty, Mom and Dad just want to give you a present, they don't care what you do with the restaurant."

"I know." Edwina bristled, "I just don't want to let them down."

"You won't. Trust me."

Edwina hugged him, "Yes, trust you."

With him there, her restless heart slowly calmed.

The next day, after dropping Bonnie off at school, Edwina went straight to the restaurant.

She had not been to the restaurant once since she had been expelled.

When she walked into the restaurant today, the familiarity that hit her was overwhelming.

"Miss, we are not open yet, please come back at eleven." A fresh-faced waitress told her as she approached.

Edwina smiled politely and asked, "Is your manager in?"

"Yes." The waiter gave her a suspicious look, "May I ask what you want from our manager?"

"You can give him a shout out for me." Edwina finished and moved to a seat to the side.

The waitress looked at her and, though she felt strange, she turned around and went to the back of the kitchen, looked for the manager and told him that someone was looking for him. "Who?" the manager asked.

"A very pretty woman."

At the waiter's reply, the manager frowned and quickly left.
