Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1444: Did you miss me?
After a quiet, relaxing week in Kyoto, Paulina set out on the road home with the children.
After dropping the children off at home, she went straight to the Leoz Group.
Alfredo was surprised to see her: "Paulina, you're back".
Paulina smiled and nodded, "Um, back."
"The prince is in his office." Alfredo said hurriedly.
"Good."
Paulina pushed open the door to the president's office and walked in.
Marcos was looking intently at his papers, his brow as cold as ever.
When he heard the door open, he thought it was Alfredo and asked, without looking up, "Yes?"
Paulina smiled and walked over to him, rested her hands on the edge of the desk, leaned over and said, "Yes."
The familiar voice rang in her ears and Mark lifted his head to look into a pair of eyes with a smile from Dulce.
"I'm back." Paulina straightened up and put her hands behind her back, a smile on her pretty little face.
The corners of Mark's mouth slowly lifted and even the tips of his eyebrows tinged with a small smile. "Welcome home." Paulina raised an eyebrow, "You missed me?"
"Do you want to know the answer?" asked Marcos instead of answering.
Paulina nodded, "Of course I do."
"Then come here."
At Marcos' gesture, Paulina rounded the desk and walked over to him.
Paulina's waist suddenly tightened and, with a small gasp, she sat on his lap.
His fresh, pleasant scent instantly enveloped her.
All the thoughts that had been building up for a week came flooding back, and Paulina reached up around his shoulder, lowering her head and kissing his lips in front of his surprised eyes. Mark's eyes darkened as her lips softened and he squeezed her waist, deepening the kiss.
All thoughts of the other for the past week had been incorporated into this extremely prolonged kiss.
After the kiss, Marcos reluctantly left her lips.
Their foreheads rested on each other and they looked at each other.
One deep as a pond, the other brimming with light.
Only when her beating heart slowly stilled did Paulina say, "I've missed you so much."
The soft voice had a tinge of smugness.
A faint smile tugged at the corners of Mark's mouth, "I miss you too."
Paulina bit her lower lip lightly, her eyes boring into his handsome face, "Really?"
"Really."
Getting the answer she thought, Paulina gave him a kiss on the lips before jumping off his lap, hands behind her back and smiling, "I'm off to work, I'll buy you a big dinner tonight." She quirked an eyebrow and turned to leave.
It wasn't until the door closed that Mark withdrew his gaze and smiled fondly and helplessly.
...
In the evening, after work, Paulina took Marcos to a new Thai restaurant downtown.
They chose a seat by the window.
"Feel free to order whatever you want, today it's on me." Paulina pushes the menu in front of Marcos very cockily.
Marcos couldn't help but laugh, "Why did you think to invite me to dinner all of a sudden?".
"Do I need a reason to invite you to dinner?" Paulina asked instead of answering.
Marcos raised an eyebrow, "No, indeed, I don't."
Paulina folded her hands on the table and arched her eyebrows, "Because I ... am happy, that's why I wanted to invite you to dinner."
"I hope you're this happy every day." Marcos smiled at her and lowered his head to look at the menu.
In the dining room, peeking out, sat Blythe and Winston.
They had seen Paulina and Marcos as they entered the restaurant.
Seeing Marcos again after so many days brought mixed emotions to Blythe's mind and her eyes followed Marcos.
He was the man she had once loved so much.
There was a hint of sadness in his eyes.
Winston saw it and his expression sank, asking, "Blythe, what are you doing?"
Blythe came to her senses at the sound of his voice, and immediately ordered her thoughts, saying coldly, "Nothing."
She lowered her head and continued to eat from her plate, but it tasted like chewing wax and was hard to swallow.
So she put down her chopsticks and picked up a wet wipe to wipe her mouth, "I can't eat anymore, pay the bill."
Winston stared at her for a moment before asking, "You still care about Marcos."
It was a statement, not a question.
Blythe's eyes flickered slightly and she snorted, "You're overthinking it."
"No." Winston shook his head, "I'm not overthinking it, I'm reading it by the look of you."
Blythe couldn't help but get a little annoyed, "Winston, are you that hesitant, don't you trust me at all?"
"Of course I trust you." Winston took a deep breath, "I just hope that right now Mark is just a stranger to you, there's no need to have any mood swings because of him."
"I hate him, how do you expect me to repress my emotions?" asked Blythe again contritely.
Winston turned his head to look at Mark, who had his back to them, his eyes narrowed with a baleful look. "If you want revenge, treat him like a stranger or he'll cloud your judgment."
Blythe took a big sip of the juice on the table and said coldly, "I know."
Then Winston smirked, "Remember, if you want to be great, control your heart."
"Winston, when is it your turn to educate me?" Blythe huffed.
"I'm not educating you, I'm doing it for your own good." Winston took her hand between his, his thumb gently brushed the back of her hand, "I know you hate Mark, but with hate comes love, it's better to think of him as a real enemy." Blythe withdrew her hand, closed her eyes to calm them and opened them, her gaze unperturbed, "I know what to do."
Winston smiled, "That's good. Anyway, you'll see him again in a few days, and I hope you'll be as unperturbed then as you are now."
"In a few days?" Blythe's brow furrowed, "What are your plans?"
He had plans and hadn't even discussed them with her?
"Not a plan, but an agreement." The corner of Winston's mouth curved, "I'm going to arrange a big dinner for you, at which prominent people from all walks of life will be present."
Blythe smiled, "So you have this arrangement. I like it."
"It's good that you like it." Winston took her hand in his and looked at her fondly, "I'd do anything for you."
Mark felt someone watching him from behind, but when he looked back, he saw the regulars of the restaurant and no suspicious characters.
He frowned... was it just his imagination?
"What's wrong?" asked Paulina with concern, noticing that he seemed a little out of it.
Marcos smiled faintly, "Nothing."
Paulina didn't ask too many questions, "We'll go home after dinner, Esteban and Sweety miss you too."
Marcos nodded, "Okay."
It was almost nine o'clock when they finished eating, but both Esteban and Sweety were still awake when they got home.
