Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1452: Palpitations
Alvaro saw that his brother didn't care, so he said no more.
As he turned to leave, he suddenly thought of something and, with a stomp of his feet, turned his head to look at Marcos, who was back at work. "Brother, didn't your sister-in-law ask you to accompany her today for a medical check-up?".
Marcos looked up, "Well, what's the matter?"
Paulina had arranged with him two days ago to go to Almeida for a body checkup today.
"Nothing, I was just afraid you'd forget."
This was more important than a JR Group.
Marcos glanced at his wristwatch, a faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "It's about time."
With those words, he stood up, "I'm going out, I'll leave the company to you."
"Don't worry, brother."
Alvaro smiled and walked out of the office with him.
Marcos entered Paulina's office and upon seeing him, Paulina, who had been busy all morning, suddenly remembered about the medical check-up.
"I almost forgot." Paulina smiled helplessly at him as she cleared her desk.
Marcos laughed softly, "No hurry."
Paulina threw her bag on her back and walked over to him, grabbing his arm and smiling, "Let's go."
When they arrived at the Institute, Almeida and Sener, who had been waiting for them since early in the morning, greeted them immediately.
They both bowed their heads respectfully, "Prince, Paulina."
"Everything ready?" asked Marcos.
Almeida nodded, "All ready, just waiting for you to come."
"I'll be out soon." Marcos patted Paulina's hand, reassuring her in case the exam took too long and she got worried.
Paulina smiles, "I know. You guys go in, I'll wait outside."
Seeing them enter the exam room, Paulina walked to a side couch and sat down.
She looked toward the examination room, which had closed its doors, and clasped her hands together uneasily.
After all this time, Marcos had still not recovered his memory.
At first, he had taken the medicine Almeida had developed and remembered a little, but only vaguely.
After that, it had no effect.
Today he came in for a medical checkup to see if there was something wrong or if there was something else in Marcos' body that was preventing him from recovering his memory. Paulina took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
She was still a little nervous.
What mattered most was that Marcos was healthy.
After an hour or so, the door to the exam room opened.
Paulina stood up and walked quickly toward it.
"Marcos."
She gripped Marcos' hand tightly and asked anxiously, "How is he?"
Without waiting for Marcos to respond, Almeida spoke first, "Paulina, the prince is healthy, nothing is wrong."
Paulina breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, "That's good."
"However, we have to investigate what went wrong for the prince not to regain his memory." added Sener.
"Paulina, I'm sorry." Marcos looked at her with an apologetic face.
Paulina shook her head, "It's okay, your health is more important than anything else."
With that, she opened her hand and intertwined her fingers with his, looking deeply at him, "As long as you're by my side, that's all that matters."
"Paulina," he said, and Mark took her in his arms.
Tightly, as if he wanted to embed her in his own body.
At this sight, Almeida and Sener smiled at each other and pulled away.
The two held each other for a while before Marcos released her, looked down into her clear eyes and said in a very soft voice, "No more going back to the office, let me come out with you for a walk." "May I?" Paulina's face lit up with joy.
Marcos smiled, "Of course you can."
Paulina couldn't remember how long it had been since they had gone shopping alone, so she had to take advantage of this rare opportunity.
It was an afternoon of shopping.
Paulina bought a lot of clothes for the two children, as well as something for Alvaro and Bonita's unborn child.
When we got home, it was still dark.
"Why are you back so early today?" Mrs. Gloria saw the large bags Marcos was carrying and stared in surprise, "You didn't work today?" "Marcos didn't come back to the office after his medical checkup." explained Paulina.
Ms. Gloria then remembered and asked with concern, "What are the results of the examination?"
"The body is healthy, there is nothing wrong."
"And it said when would the memory come back?" asked Mrs. Gloria again.
Paulina shook her head, "No."
Mrs. Gloria frowned, "How is that possible, isn't there anything Almeida and the others can do?"
"Mom, let it happen."
Hearing the words "let it happen" from her lips, Mrs. Gloria's heart broke.
Seeing Mrs. Gloria's pain, Paulina said, "Mom, I'm fine."
Mrs. Gloria laughed helplessly, "Silly girl."
...
After dinner, Paulina went upstairs to stay with the two boys until they fell asleep and then went to her room.
Mark was sitting propped up on the bed in his pajamas, laptop resting on his lap, working on his play.
"Are you still busy?"
Paulina asked softly, moving closer to him.
Mark looked up, his eyebrows smoothed by the night, freshly washed hair falling naturally over his forehead, and he looked a little young. Paulina couldn't help but remain thoughtful.
A smile tugged at her lips as Mark put away his computer, set it on the nightstand, and wrapped his long arms around her waist.
Paulina lets out a small gasp.
"Do I look okay?"
His voice was so low and magnetic that Paulina couldn't help but feel a shiver in her heart.
Her cheeks flushed and she averted her gaze, "Of course you look pretty."
A low chuckle sounded in her ears and Paulina looked up at him, only to see that his forehead was tinged with a small smile and he looked particularly relaxed and happy. She couldn't help but feel annoyed and raised her hand to punch him in the chest, "What are you so amused about?"
Mark took her hand between his and kissed the back of it, looking at her fondly, "It's good to have you around."
Before she could say anything else, Marcos' hands pushed hard and the sky spun and she was pinned beneath it.
Mark rested his hands on the sides of her head, looked directly into her eyes and in the next instant, lowered his head to kiss her slightly parted lips.
His heart, throbbing with excitement.
Paulina clutched his lapels and closed her eyes, feeling the tremors he caused her.
It became late at night.
The next day, Marcos was awakened by a loud ring from his cell phone.
"Wow, Marcos, the phone is ringing ...," cooed the sleeping Paulina, pulling the covers over her head.
Marcos reached out and picked up the phone, "What's wrong?".
His voice was hoarse and gravelly with the sound of recent sleep.
"Brother, something's happened!" Alvaro's anxious voice came from the other end of the phone.
