Chapter 1470: A Great Relationship

Vega was extremely efficient and it only took him a day to vet Chris to the letter. Vega rushed to the office and reported, "Prince, Chris has a bad reputation abroad." Marcos frowned, "Why?"

"His company was founded in South America and started as a small company, but he has used underhanded tactics to forcibly acquire several companies in order to expand."

Alvaro snorted coldly, "Don't say acquisition so nicely, it's clearly a malicious annexation."

Marcos looked at him and said quietly, "Vega, tell me more."

Vega nodded, "Good."

"Back in South America, Chris worked with other companies and lured them into signing contracts with high returns, and when the companies invested their money step by step, only to replace out it was a scam when they emptied out, Chris would take advantage of their impending bankruptcy and buy them out.

Because of his dirty tricks, he earned a bad reputation in South America. Whenever he is mentioned, everyone scoffs and hates him."

"That's cheap!" Alvaro couldn't help but curse, "Business is about mutual benefit and win-win, but he's so dirty that he only thinks about how to maliciously annex other people's businesses."

Mark pondered for a moment and asked in confusion, "If he has such a bad reputation, why do most of the media have a positive opinion of him? There are hardly any negative reports about him."

"Money talks." Vega said, "After his company expanded successfully, he took the money out for charities and good causes, and once the media reported it, people who didn't know the truth thought he was a good man.

People who really know him don't want to mess with him and attract bad luck. If it wasn't for this investigation, I'm afraid we wouldn't have known he was such a horrible person."

"Terrible?" Alvaro frowned, "Not so much terrifying as dirty. Now that he's moved his business focus to the field, he must be trying to do the same thing he did then, gobbling up the smaller companies he works with step by step." And some of those smaller companies were also originally Leoz Group partners.

It was ironic to think that all those companies were now sucking up to Chris, Alvaro thought, "What idiots."

"Prince, we still have to be careful." Vega had a feeling that Chris had the Leoz Group in his sights at all times and wouldn't stop until he got what he wanted.

"I know." Marcos' eyes narrowed slightly, revealing a hint of danger. "Right now he's having a moment of complacency, there's still no telling who will have the last laugh."

Vega nodded, and suddenly something occurred to him, "By the way, Prince, I've discovered something else."

"It's..." Vega hesitated, "Chris and Linda are related."

"Vega, are you sure?" hearing the name "Linda," Alvaro's face changed and he looked slightly uneasy.

"I'm sure. And they are very close, they are lovers." Vega looked at Marcos and continued, "Chris and the Leoz Group had no dispute, so there was no point in targeting us. Now, it's all pretty clear." "Who exactly is Linda?" asked Marcos.

Alvaro and Vega looked at each other before saying, "Linda was your fiancee, then you chose your sister-in-law and she held a grudge and repeatedly turned on her, and you ended up getting kicked out of the country." That sounded like things were a bit complicated.

Marcos shook his head, "I don't remember."

"It's good not to remember." Alvaro suddenly felt that his memory loss wasn't all bad.

Marcos frowned, "Chris is targeting the Leoz Group because of Linda?"

"If I'm right, I think so." Alvaro said, "As Vega said, it's all clear now. The Rawlins went after you, because of Earlene, and Chris went after Linda."

At that moment Alvaro shook his head "tsk-tsk", "Brother, you really are a womanizer, all for women."

He rubbed his nose slyly and quickly conceded, "I was wrong."

"Send someone to keep an eye on Chris," Marcos ordered quietly.

Vega bowed his head respectfully, "Yes."

Paulina was surprised to learn of Chris and Linda's relationship.

Linda, the woman Marcos had kicked out of the country, had reappeared.

Remembering the things Linda had done to her in the past, Paulina couldn't help but faint inside.

She really didn't want anything more to do with that woman, Linda, and if she could, she really hoped she would never hear that name again in her life. "She's back in the country too?" asked Paulina.

Mark's brow furrowed slightly, "I'm not sure. But, since Chris is in the country, she should be there too."

Paulina suddenly remembered the figure she had inadvertently seen when she was shopping two days ago, and her face changed instantly.

Was it really Linda?

No, she had to replace out if Linda was really back in the country.

"Marcos, can you have Alfredo look into it?"

Marcos realized his face didn't look good and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"

"Linda is not a good person." Paulina took a deep breath, "Back then, she could have used any means to get you. If she goes back to her country, there will be no peace in our lives."

Most of all, she was afraid that Linda was not yet dead to Marcos, and in case she tried to steal him back from someone, who knew if she would take him away and hide him like Earlene had done. He didn't want to lose it again.

Marcos took her hand in his and rubbed it slowly, making a reassuring sound, "Don't worry, I'll protect you and the baby."

"I know you'll protect us. But still it's important to replace out, so we can prepare in time." said Paulina.

Marcos nodded, "Good."

He would do whatever she said, long as it reassured her.
