Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1499: All Thanks to Her
Winston was silent.
Thinking about the temptation of Mark's words, Blythe tossed the phone on her desk in distraction, folded her arms and said coolly, "Since he already suspects me, I might as well do a clean slate." She looked at Winston with a sinister look, "Look for an opportunity to get Paulina to take that pill!"
"Are you sure?" Winston asked.
"What else am I supposed to do?" Blythe asked instead of answering.
Winston slowly narrowed his eyes, "Find a scapegoat."
Blythe frowned, "What do you mean?"
"All you have to do is insist on denying that you had anything to do with it, and I'll replace a way to get Mark to stop suspecting you."
Blythe knew Winston had the power to fix this.
Finally she smiled, "With your help, what do I have to worry about."
Winston walked over to her and hugged her, "Blythe, I told you I would do my best to do everything in your power. So with me you don't have to worry about anything."
"Winston, you are so good to me." Blythe said gently as she rested her head on his chest.
"You have to remember that I'm the one person in the world who loves you the most." Winston said in a deep voice as he wrapped his arms around her waist and stared at her. Blythe let out a soft "mmm".
Winston looked up at the gray sky outside the floor to ceiling windows, his eyes misty.
...
After the breakup with Bergerian, Lisa returned home and was grabbed by her parents to ask why Bergerian was ending the partnership with the Agnelli Family.
She looked at her parents' somber expressions and found it ironic.
It really was a case of one thing leading to another.
Remembering how great the Agnelli Family had been when she and Bergerian had been married, her parents had been as good as they could be and had treated her with more affection than ever.
But since she and Bergerian had divorced, her parents didn't care why they had divorced, only accused her of not knowing how hard it was for Bergerian not to love her.
Sometimes she wanted to scream at them that she was their daughter and they didn't love her anymore because she was divorced.
But it had come to this and she was tired.
She didn't want to argue anymore.
With this in mind, Lisa pulled her father's hand away and said in a somewhat nonchalant tone "Dad, Mom, if you want to know, you can ask Bergerian yourselves.
Her father, angered by her attitude, snapped, "This is your fault, and you must replace a way to fix it for me."
"How can I fix it?" Lisa laughed coldly, "He and I are divorced, there's no way to fix it!".
The last sentence, she almost shouted it!
"A slap!"
Her father slapped her in the face, pointing a finger at her nose and scolding her, "You are anything but! How dare you talk to me with that attitude! If it weren't for you, the Agnelli family would be a laughingstock..... Do you know how many people laugh at the Agnelli Family behind our backs? Without the partnership with Bergerian, our Agnelli Family would do nothing but fall."
Lisa's father was distraught at the thought of his family's disappearance after hundreds of years.
Lisa covered her pained cheek, tears welling up in her eyes as she bit her lip.
The pain on her face was no match for the pain in her heart.
"Of course, you must take Bergerian back for me, all the glory of our Agnelli Family is in your hands!".
The tone of my father's voice was unmistakable!
Lisa said nothing more, just a faint "Understood."
And she went upstairs.
She went back to her room and approached the dressing table, looking at her red, swollen cheek in the mirror, her hands slowly clenched into fists, a monstrous hatred rising in her eyes. Everything she was suffering now was thanks to that bitch Paulina.
"Paulina!" he spat the name out of his mouth through gritted teeth.
That bitch Paulina had to die, or Bergerian would never die.
...
The next afternoon, Lisa showed up at the J-town airport.
She stepped out of the airport lobby and removed her sunglasses, squinting at the familiarity of what was in front of her, the corners of her mouth slowly curling up.
The last time he had chased Bergerian to J-town, he had failed to get rid of Paulina, so this time he was going to get it.
He put his sunglasses back on and strided toward the car parked on the shoulder.
He climbed into the car and headed for J-town.
Meanwhile, Bergerian stood up, surprised by the news, and looked at his assistant who had come to report.
"What, Lisa has gone to J-City?".
The assistant nodded, "Yes. The flight left last night and arrived in J-City this afternoon."
Lisa's trip to J-City must have been directed to Paulina.
With her jealous personality, she would never let Paulina go.
The more Bergerian thought about it, the more frightened he became at the memory of Lisa having someone try to kill Paulina. "Carl, book me a flight to J-Town." He ordered in a gravelly voice.
He had to go stop Lisa, that crazy woman!
Carl frowned at that, "But there are still a few important meetings you have to attend."
A sharp glare shot up, followed by Bergerian's cold voice, "Carl, since when do I need you to question the decisions I make?" Startled, Carl lowered his head and said respectfully, "I'll go book a flight."
He turned and hurried out.
Bergerian pulled out his cell phone and opened a photo, the sweet, pure look of the woman in it falling into his eyes.
The corners of his mouth lifted involuntarily.
"Paulina," he murmured.
Soon they would meet again.
...
When Mark returned to the hospital, Paulina was sitting against the bed reading a book and, seeing him enter, she put it down, smiled and asked, "Are you finished?" "Yes." Marcos walked over, picked up the book she was holding, and raised an eyebrow, "A novel?"
Paulina hurried to snatch the book from his hand, smiled and said, "I was bored, wasn't I? I thought I'd read a novel to pass the time."
Marcos smiled and said nothing more.
Paulina put the book away and asked, "It's not going to interfere with your work if you come to the hospital with me every day like this?" "No."
Marcos took an apple in his bony hand and peeled it expertly as he replied, "The company has Alvaro."
Paulina laughed helplessly, "You really have Alvaro to thank for that, if it wasn't for him you wouldn't be able to get away."
Marcos made no noise and peeled the apple carefully.
Soon the apple was peeled and he cut a piece and took it to Paulina's mouth.
Paulina looked at him, opened her mouth and bit into the apple.
Her eyes lit up, "How sweet."
Then she smiled and said, "It must be the apples that are peeled that are the sweetest."
That pleased Mark and he cut the apple into pieces and put them on his plate. "If it's sweet, finish it."
"As you wish." Paulina took another piece of apple and popped it in her mouth, a happy, sweet smile spread across her small, simple face.
If she could, how she would love to have him by her side twenty-four hours a day.
