Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1525: I want to behave myself
As he watched the Leoz Group's stock slowly rise, Blythe was so angry that he paced back and forth in his office, saying resignedly, "How did Marcos get so lucky? Every time there's a scare, there's no danger."
Every time he thought the Leoz Group was finished, he would turn around.
It's so frustrating!
Blythe sat back in her office chair, annoyed, her face covered in gloom by delicate makeup.
"Don't be upset. You can't be this lucky all the time, there will be times when you're unlucky." Winston came over and sat on the edge of the desk, looking down at her, reassuringly.
Blythe furrowed her eyebrows for a moment in contemplation. "Actually, I'm more curious as to who's behind this one, so ruthless that he poisoned and crippled that Juanetta to save himself."
He shuddered as he remembered seeing Juanetta's insane, drooling stupidity on the news.
The cruelty of the other side gave him chills.
Winston pondered for a moment, "Who else in the world but a Bergerian could have such a horrible drug?"
Blythe raised an eyebrow, "You think Bergerian did it all?"
"Could it have been anyone but him?" Winston asked instead of answering. "He's been working with illegal drugs and has a history with Marcos."
"That's true." Blythe nodded, "They have a big feud between them. Bergerian went to a lot of trouble to get Paulina away from human experimentation before, but it all backfired. And yes, with that brooding personality of Bergerian's, he sure wouldn't have let Marcos off the hook."
Winston looked at her and said nothing.
Blythe suddenly smiled, "If we do something about Paulina, can't we blame it all on Bergerian?"
Winston raised an eyebrow, "Sure."
"In that case, let's be ruthless." Blythe's eyes narrowed with a ruthless look.
"So what's your plan?" Winston asked.
"This time I want Paulina dead!" Blythe gritted her teeth: "The only way Marcos will feel pain is if she dies. Her pain is my pleasure."
Winston bent down and turned her chair around, turning her to face him.
Resting his hands on the armrests, he leaned down to look into her eyes, curving the corner of his mouth, "I love your cruelty."
Blythe winked at him and tugged his tie to pull him closer, lifting her head closer to him and exhaling like silk, "So you'll help me?" Winston's eyes sparkled, "Of course I will."
With those words, she sealed her red lips fiercely.
...
Paulina was not in a good state, even after taking the medicine Almeida had made, she was still in a drowsy state.
Marcos did not dare to part from her for long, for fear of missing the moment she woke up.
Her face was as pale as paper and her lips had no blood on them.
Marcos was distressed and anxious, and ordered Almeida and Sener several times to prepare a special medicine.
Gloria arrived at the hospital with Esteban and Sweety.
When she saw Paulina lying motionless on the hospital bed, Esteban's eyes instantly reddened.
But he bit his lip to keep from crying.
Sweety walked over to the bed and watched Paulina for a while before turning to Marcos, "Dad, why is Mom still sleeping, it's already morning." Marcos reached out and stroked her little head and said softly, "Mommy is tired and resting."
"How long until Mommy comes home?" asked Sweety again.
"A few more days."
Sweety deflated, "Can she come home today? I really miss Mommy."
She said, tears streaming down her face.
When she cried, Stephen couldn't help himself, and was quick to turn his head to the side and raise his hand to wipe away the tears. Mama had said he was a man and shouldn't cry.
But... the more he wiped his eyes, the more tears fell.
Stephen was older and could hear from the adults' words that Paulina was seriously ill, so his eyes turned red at the sight of Paulina.
Sweety, on the other hand, was too young to understand what was happening to Paulina, all she wanted was her mom.
"Sweety, don't cry. Mommy will be home soon." Mark knelt down and reached up to wipe the tears from her cheeks.
"But Sweety really loves Mommy." The teardrops were still on Sweety's eyelashes.
Stephen wiped the tears hard, reached over and took Sweety's hand, whispering, "Sweety, Mommy is sick and she's not well. We have to be good and be quiet for Mommy."
Sweety lifted her tear stained little face and looked at Esteban with tears in her eyes, "Brother, I want Mommy to come home ..."
"Let's be good and Mommy will get better soon and then we can go home sooner."
Sweety sniffled, "Really?"
Esteban nodded vigorously, "Really. When has my brother ever lied to you?"
"Then I'm not going to cry. I'm going to be good." Sweety reached up and wiped away her tears.
Watching the scene, the realization of the two children made Mark's emotions mix.
Mrs. Gloria feared Sweety would cry again later and wake Paulina, so she convinced the two children to go home first.
When silence returned to the room, Marcos walked over to the head of the bed and sat down, took Paulina's hand and whispered, "Paulina, the kids miss you so much, you need to hurry up and get well so we can go home sooner." I don't know if she heard his words, but Paulina's fingers twitched.
Marcos' chest choked and he squeezed her hand.
...
These days, Marcos basically didn't go to the office and was on Paulina's back almost twenty-four hours a day.
Documents that needed his personal attention were taken to the hospital by Alfredo.
In the evening, the nurse came to see Paulina as usual. She nodded to Marcos, who was sitting on the couch reading his papers, and then went to the bed as usual.
She took Paulina's temperature and gave her an injection.
The next day, just after dawn, Paulina woke up.
Her head felt much clearer, her body aches were much less, and unlike last time, she sat up easily.
She also did not feel tired.
She was distressed to see Mark, who was asleep on the edge of the bed.
"Marcos," she called softly.
Marcos faintly heard someone calling him and he slowly opened his eyes and Paulina's distressed look fell into his eyes.
He sat upright, "You're awake."
Paulina smiled, "Yes, I am awake."
Mark noticed that her face was not as pale as before, she had some blood on it and looked much fresher.
He reached out and touched Paulina's head, "Are you feeling better?".
Paulina nodded, "I'm much better. My head is not dizzy and my limbs don't hurt anymore."
