Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1538: What's the rhythm of the meeting?
As soon as Marcos appeared, he immediately became the center of everyone's attention.
"How come he's coming?"
"I heard Rawlins also sent him an invitation, I originally thought he wouldn't come."
"After Earlene's death, the Bartram family and The Leoz family have become bitter rivals, with such a bad relationship, at what rate are we meeting today?"
...
Paulina could more or less hear the chatter around her.
She frowned and said, "It's the same gossip, no matter the status."
Alvaro heard this and couldn't help but laugh, "Sister-in-law, everyone gossips, very few people can do what my brother does and have no interest in what goes on around them." Paulina looked at the expressionless Marcos and nodded, "Indeed."
The chatter of those people didn't affect her in the least.
"Brother, Grandma Bartram is there." Alvaro saw the old woman in her wheelchair not far away.
The old woman was talking to someone else, with a smile of joy on her aged face, but when she saw Marcos and the others, her smile froze and her face turned ugly. Marcos looked at her with a calm face.
The old woman's eyes were filled with hatred and her hands, resting on her lap, were clenched into fists.
There was an inexplicable silence in the room and something seemed to stir in the air.
Paulina's heart was in her throat and her hand tensed unconsciously as she grasped Mark's.
If the Rawlins hated Marcos, the old woman hated him even more.
To her, Marcos was her granddaughter's murderer.
Everyone expected her to fly into a rage, but she did not. She just let the butler push her away.
Phew!
Paulina breathed a sigh of relief: "I was scared to death".
Alvaro had the same relieved face as he looked at the old woman's back and sighed, "The old woman is a decent person."
If it had been anyone else, seeing them here, they would have been so angry they would have thrown them out.
But not the old lady.
Especially since it was a good day for Rawlins' engagement, and she put up with it for her grandson's sake.
This, Alvaro admired.
The old woman returned to the parlor and immediately had Rawlins called.
"Grandma, you wanted to see me."
Rawlins entered and, seeing the old woman's disheveled face, was quick to ask with concern, "What's wrong with her?" "Why are you here?" The old woman asked angrily, "Who told them to come here!"
Rawlins instantly understood who she was talking about and explained with a smile, "Grandma, I invited them, I ...."
Before she could finish the sentence, the old woman coldly interrupted her, "Are you crazy to invite them? Have you forgotten how your sister died?"
The old woman's emotions flared, she couldn't forget how Earlene had died!
"Grandma, calm down for a moment, listen to me." Rawlins feared that if the old woman became agitated, her body wouldn't be able to take it, so he quickly knelt down and took her hand.
"I haven't forgotten how Earlene died. I only invited them to try to put pressure on the Marcoses."
Here Rawlins' eyes clouded over, "After today, the Bartram family will no longer be the same as before, and with the help of The Chavez family, The Leoz family will definitely pay for Earlene's death!" The old lady's face was still mean, "I don't care what you think, when I see them I think of my poor Earlene."
"Grandma, don't worry, I will get justice for Earlene."
"Ai." The old woman sighed and her face lightened slightly, "Grandma believes in you."
Outside the parlor, Blythe, who had been standing carefully in the doorway eavesdropping on their conversation, felt a little bad.
She wanted to run in and tell them she wasn't dead.
But no, the situation wouldn't allow it.
She took a deep breath, stifled her impulse and turned around to prepare to leave.
"Clang..."
Unexpectedly, the toe of her shoe accidentally pushed aside a flower pot, and by the time she reacted, it was too late to get back out. "Mr. Blythe?"
Indeed, Rawlins' voice came from behind her.
Blythe gathered up her emotions, turned as if nothing was wrong, smiled slightly and said, "Well, it's me."
"Who is it, Rawlins?"
The old woman asked as she had the maid push her out, inexplicably frozen at the sight of Blythe.
She looked Blythe up and down, frowning, how could there be a sense of familiarity in what was obviously a completely unfamiliar face?
As soon as she saw the old woman, Blythe's eyes instantly reddened and a "Grandma" almost came out of her mouth.
She clenched her palms together to suppress her emotions and managed to sketch a smile, "Grandma Bartram, hello, I'm Blythe."
"Blythe," the old woman repeated her name and smiled, "That's a very pretty name."
"Thank you. Blythe smiled back.
Rawlins hastened to introduce herself, "Grandma, she's the CEO of the Euro-Pacific Banking District of the JR Group."
"So young to be president, how brilliant." I was congratulated by the old lady.
"Grandma, how is your health? I heard some time ago you were recuperating overseas." asked Blythe with concern.
The old lady said with a smile, "I'm much better."
"That's good."
Looking at the smiling Sweet Blythe, the old woman suddenly had the illusion of seeing Earlene.
Blythe turned her head to look at Rawlins, "By the way, I almost forgot to congratulate you."
Rawlins smiled softly, "Thank you."
"I saw Mrs. Chavez, a good match for you." Blythe smiled and wished, "May you and your sister-in-law... Mrs. Chavez grow old together and be happy for the rest of your lives." After she said that, her heart clenched and almost skipped a beat.
"I will, thank you for the blessing." Rawlins didn't seem to realize anything was wrong.
Blythe breathed a sigh of relief and addressed a few more worried words to Grandma Bartram before turning to leave.
