Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1569: Can't Afford to Make Much of a Splash
Chris followed Carl into the office.
When he saw Bergerian sitting behind his desk, a sharp look appeared in his eyes, but was quickly replaced by a smile.
He walked over quickly and held out his hand, "I've heard a lot about you, Mr. Bergerian."
Bergerian stood up and returned his hand with an equally friendly smile, "So have I."
The two men looked at each other, both with a smile on their faces, but both watching each other without moving.
"This way." Bergerian was the first to release his hand in a "please" gesture.
The two made their way to the couch in the meeting area and sat down.
"Mr Chris, what brings you to me all of a sudden?" Bergerian leaned back on the couch, cross-legged, and asked, "Don't you work well with Rawlins?"
Chris laughed softly, "Why do you ask? I'm sure you know what happened a while back."
Bergerian raised an eyebrow, "You mean Rawlins is eating market share from you?"
Chris hated the mention and his face sank, "Yes. You've got The Chavez Family and you're on a roll, what do you think of me?"
The sarcasm in his words referred to Rawlins.
Bergerian laughed, "No need to be presumptuous. I know you were in quite a mess a while back, but if you really weren't capable, you wouldn't be sitting here."
"That's what you think of me, Mr. Bergerian." The smile returned to Chris's face, "I didn't come empty-handed this time, but you brought good news." "Good news?" Bergerian looked intrigued.
"I've worked with Rawlins before and knew some drug dealer channels I thought you might need."
Bergerian made no noise.
Chris continued, "I know you're being watched very closely right now, and it must be uncomfortable to have your hands tied. So I can help you."
Bergerian stared at him for a moment before speaking slowly, "How can I trust you?"
"You definitely need my help now, and those dealers are all your own people, so you don't have to worry about working together. The two of us will work together and slowly eat up the Bartram Group's pharmaceutical market." So he was trying to take on the Bartram Group.
Bergerian was a bit disappointed and shook his head, "Sorry, my enemy is not Rawlins, and I'm not interested in stealing the market from the Bartram Group."
At that, Chris let out a laugh, "I know. But we also have a common enemy, Marcos!".
Bergerian gave him a sullen look and said nothing.
If he was trying to unite him against Marcos, it was something to be reckoned with.
After all, what he said was quite encouraging.
Now that he was being watched so closely by the police, if he didn't come up with a solution, the company would be screwed by Marcos sooner or later.
His silence made Chris think he didn't want to agree, and he stalled by saying, "You may not know this, but I've worked with Rawlins before just to deal with Marcos ..."
"I know that." Bergerian took the floor and interrupted him.
"So, you agree?" Chris looked at him expectantly.
"Since we have a common enemy, wouldn't it be too much of a stretch not to work together?"
Bergerian's words made Chris's dangling heart finally return to its place.
He held out his hand, "Good cooperation."
Bergerian didn't seem to see his hand as he stood up and headed for the nearby wine cabinet.
Chris felt a little uncomfortable at being ignored, but he didn't dare take it personally, as he really needed to work with Bergerian.
Bergerian stood in front of the wine cabinet, picked it out for a moment, pulled a bottle of wine and two tall glasses from it, turned around, walked back to the couch and sat down.
He put the wine and glasses on the table and looked at Chris with a pout of his lips, "What a nice day, we had to have a drink to celebrate our partnership."
Chris smiled at this, "You bet."
That made him feel a lot better inside.
Bergerian opened the wine, poured it into both glasses, took one of them and handed it to Chris.
Chris took it, "Mr. Bergerian, good cooperation!"
Bergerian looked at him, the corners of his lips curled up and he raised the glass.
The two glasses clinked softly.
Chris cocked his head and gulped it down, then, assured, "Mr. Bergerian, you can rest assured that our cooperation will not let you down. I believe that with the two of us we will be able to take down the Leoz Group and make Marcos never recover."
Bergerian smiled meaningfully, "I'm looking forward to it."
The two chatted a while longer before Chris got up and left.
Chris returned to the office and immediately made plans to work with Bergerian.
He was not alone in the company, and it was only natural that the shareholders would be informed of such a decision.
As soon as Eliazar received the news, he told Mark at home.
"Prince, Chris and Bergerian are working together."
Marcos' hand on his pen gave a twitch and his eyebrows furrowed: "What did you say?".
Alfredo, who was waiting for him to sign the papers, clearly felt a strong, overwhelming aura emanating from him.
"I just got the news, and judging by the way Chris is acting, it must be a done deal with Bergerian."
Mark stood up and walked over to the floor to ceiling window overlooking half of City J. He hooked his lips into a sneer, "Chris is too smart, it's over Rawlins, turning his head toward Bergerian."
It seemed Chris knew of his feud with Bergerian, why else would he have turned to Bergerian instead of looking for someone else to work with?
"Prince, do we have to stop him?" asked Eliazar.
"No need, even if you work together, you won't be able to make much noise."
Not that Marcos looked down on Bergerian and Chris, but that was the way it was.
Now Bergerian wasn't able to move an inch, and was only slowly trying to recover by using Chris.
Eliazar was not surprised and merely asked, "So what am I supposed to do?"
"You are a shareholder in Chris' company, so naturally you will be aware of some of his plans." Marcos said, "If I'm right, maybe he'll take the initiative and seek a partnership to grow his own company." Now Eliazar's status, in addition to shareholder, is that of head of the Gerst Group.
Chris would not easily give up such an important resource as the Gestalt Group.
Eliazar understood what he meant: "Prince, I know what needs to be done."
After hanging up the phone, Marcos looked out silently, his eyes as sunken as a suntan, unable to see what was on his mind at that moment.
