Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 309: No one dares to bully you
"Don't you believe me, Daddy?"
Agnes feigned displeasure and glared at Josh.
Josh was quick to coax, "How could Daddy not believe you? I'm just worried about you guys."
"Why are you here at this time?" Ela asked.
It's not even close to closing time yet, which is why Ela is asking.
"I heard that Eloise was injured and hospitalised, and it was only right that I, as a father, should go and see her."
Josh, despite what he says, is actually afraid that if he doesn't care about Eloise, the Rogers family will come after him again. "You're going to see that bitch?"
Ela perked up at that, "I forbid you to see her."
At the word "bitch", Josh scowled and said, "That's my daughter too, so you better watch your mouth."
How dare he accuse her for a bitch!
Ela was furious and was about to retort, when Agnes hurriedly pulled her back and whispered, "Come on, Mum, Sister is hurt, not just Dad, we should all go and see her, shouldn't we?" "Agnes, you..." Ela looked at her in surprise, not believing she would say such a thing.
Agnes scowled at her as she said, "Mum, no matter what, my sister is a Thompson family member and you've treated her like your own daughter all these years, you can't be mad at her just because she did something wrong, can you?" Ela received her wink and instantly understood what she meant, so she grunted, "I treat her like my own daughter, but she, on the other hand, treats us all like enemies." "Okay, Mom, stop it."
Agnes pulled her, then turned to Josh and said, "Dad, don't go see your sister alone either, just let Mum go with you."
At that, Josh looked over at Ela, his face still a little uncomfortable, "That's if she wants it."
"Mom."
Agnes shot a wink at Ela.
Mum, you have to go. You have to go and replace out what Eloise has to say so we can make our next move.
Ela took it in and gave a small nod to show she knew, then looked to Josh and said reluctantly, "I'll go with you before someone says I'm a heartless stepmother." Josh's face eased up a little at this, but still said in an uncharacteristic manner, "You've been alive for dozens of years and you still don't know what Agnes knows." Agnes smiled lightly and looked very well behaved and knowledgeable indeed.
That is, of course, if she hadn't done those disgusting things.
So, Josh took Ela to see Eloise.
Eloise didn't give much of a good look at their arrival and only gave them one look before turning her head away from them.
Her attitude, to the displeasure of both Josh and Ela, was too much for Hector to say anything about it, but she had to put up with it.
"Eloise, are you all right?" Despite the discontent in his heart, the surface work had to be done.
Josh walked over and asked a concerned question.
Only then did Eloise turn her head and look at him with a faint brow, her lips curled in a few sneers, "You know to come and see me too?"
"You!" Josh was almost angry, but immediately realised Hector was there and coughed lightly to hide his anger and tried to act like a doting father, "You're my daughter, of course I had to come and see you."
Eloise looked at him and just felt sickened by his falsehood.
Still, she returned, "Don't worry, I'll be fine. After all, how dare I be okay when there are people whose retribution has not yet come."
As she said this, she gave Ela a sidelong glance.
The latter jumped up at once and questioned, "Eloise, what did you mean by that look? Is it saying I'll get my comeuppance?"
Eloise didn't bother to look at her and said blandly, "I can't help it if you want to get it right yourself."
"You..."
Ela was about to continue, when Hector hurriedly chided, "Shut up! Mr Hector is here, so watch it."
Ela had to hold back her anger, but was resigned to it, so she said grimly, "Eloise, you're lucky too, the small months don't hurt much after all, but Agnes is a different story, it was so old before she miscarried, it's too traumatic and there's no telling how long it will take to recover."
She thought Eloise knew she had miscarried a child and deliberately poked at her where it hurt.
Who knows that Eloise doesn't know about this because Hector has asked everyone to keep it from her, not wanting her to suffer the loss of her child.
So Eloise looked puzzled, "What are you talking about? Why didn't I understand?"
Ela froze, "You didn't know? You ..."
"She doesn't know." Hector suddenly interrupted her with a voice as he walked over, stopping them from looking at Eloise and asking in a cold, hard tone, "Are you done looking? Please leave when you've finished." "No, I had to finish my sentence." Ela didn't have any eyesight at all and she was a little anxious because she hadn't expected Eloise to know about the loss of her baby. How does this work?
She must give Eloise a taste of Agnes' pain.
"Mrs Thompson!" snapped Hector, his eyes narrowing dangerously, "Please leave."
Under his overly oppressive gaze, Ela could only swallow back her words and said sardonically, "I'll come back to see her some other time then."
"Mr Hector, please look after Eloise." Josh said politely.
The corners of Hector's mouth curled up in a little sneer, "Eloise is my wife and it is only right that I look after her."
Josh instantly blushed a little embarrassed and could only smile sardonically, "Mr Hector is right."
Then he turned to Eloise and said, "Eloise, Daddy will come and see you some other time."
"Don't bother coming." Eloise rejected him outright.
"You boy!" Josh was a little annoyed.
Eloise turned her head the other way, not wanting to look at them.
Josh and Ela had no choice but to leave.
Only when they had gone did Eloise turn her head, her beautiful eyes fixed on Hector, and ask, "Is there something you're not telling me?"
In fact, she had a vague sense of something in Ela's words, but didn't dare to think deeper; she would just take his word for it now.
"It's not true, don't listen to them."
Hector felt the need to transfer her to a hospital, otherwise one day the Thompson family would tell her the truth.
"Really?" Eloise was a little incredulous.
Hector smiled, "Of course it's true, would I lie to you?"
He said all that and Eloise couldn't help but smile along with him, "Well then, I believe you."
Then she turned her head to look out of the window and lamented, "My dad and the others are hypocritical enough. If it weren't for you, where would they have come to see me?"
She didn't notice the mixed emotions in Hector's eyes, only to hear him say in a deep voice, "Ignore them, you're a Rogers family now, no one will dare to bully you."
"Hey Mr Hector, we're not married oh, I'm not your wife yet." Eloise turned her head and playfully raised an eyebrow at him.
He lost his smile, "Soon it will be."
