Chapter 341: And really unashamed

The shriek sort of pulled everyone's thoughts back and Aisly jumped off the bed in a panic, standing at a bit of a loss for words.

Rupert, also startled awake by the roar he had just made, came lazily over from the sofa and said unconcernedly, "What's all the fuss about sleeping."

"I'm sorry, Mr Hector, I wasn't looking after you properly, I really am." Aisly also stepped forward at this point to apologise, she too hadn't realised that she had broken out of her drink yesterday. "Do you even have a code for being a paramedic? Is this how you are told to take care of patients?"

"If word gets out, do you have any idea what it will do to our hospital?!"

Despite Aisly coming forward to apologise, the doctor and head nurse continued to shout reprimands.

Aisly's head was pushed down even further and, not used to seeing her aggrieved, Rupert had to step in and speak up.

"Come on, cut the crap all of you, I was the one who asked her to stay with me yesterday, not to mention it wasn't office hours."

But at the end of his sentence, Aisly turned back and gave him a blank look; he might as well not have said those two words, it was almost impossible to resist the misunderstanding.

Seeing Rupert's words, the doctor and nurse stopped being harsh on Aisly and left with a few instructions.

Before Aisly left, Rupert winked at her, and Aisly saw it and walked away quickly.

Within half a day, news of Aisly sleeping in Rupert's room had spread around the hospital, and not only the doctors and nurses were talking about it, but even the patients were using it as an after-dinner buzz.

In the evening, Hector's mother came to see Rupert with a nutritious meal, but after she arrived at the hospital, she heard a lot of surprising news.

Hector's mother quickly made her way to her youngest son's hospital room to replace out if the news was true.

"Rupert, I've heard rumours all over the hospital about you and the little nurse sleeping in the ward, is this true or not?"

Hearing his mother's query, Rupert sputtered out a mouthful of rice and hurriedly explained, "What's all this, Mum, how can you believe such cheap rumours?"

"That little nurse was just looking after me, she was in a bad mood yesterday so she had a drink and then got drunk and I brought her back, you can't just leave a girl on the road and leave her alone, but I promise I didn't do anything." Hector's mother was relieved to hear that the little nurse was drinking, so she turned her head and asked, "The little nurse is drinking, you're not with anyone, are you?"

Feeling the knife-like gaze of Hector's mother, Rupert hastily confessed, "Mum, I haven't been drinking, I know what I'm doing. Where are my brother and sister-in-law? They haven't come to see me."

Hector's mother sniffed and said without looking up, "They've gone on holiday, along with Solomon."

Rupert was surprised, but heartbroken, to think that they had abandoned him to sneak off on holiday, and was saddened for a moment.

"Mum, you say big brother is too ungrateful, his dear brother is still injured and in hospital, but what about him, he has taken his wife and kids out with him, I'm wronged!"

Hector's mother paid no attention to Rupert, who was still complaining, and shoved the apple directly into his hand, with a sad look in her eyes, "If it weren't for you, I'd be out with Solomon and the others."

At this moment, Rupert has no choice but to say that his elder brother has abandoned him, and now even his own mother has started to dislike him.

Rupert took a bite of the apple before lying down playfully on the bed and pouting, "Mum, you're so biased, you have a grandson and don't want your son, your son is at least still in hospital, how can you irritate him so much, my young mind is hurt."
