Love Comes To Me
Chapter 548: She's Alive

"What the hell are you trying to say? Any more bullshit and I'll hang up." Hector frowned, impatient.

"That's cold." Rupert smacked his lips and threw up his hands in surrender.

"I just wanted to ask if you're bringing Solomon back home this year. It's been three years since you've been back and Mum and Dad kinda miss you." Rupert asked tentatively.

Hector's eyes flickered slightly before he slowly shook his head.

"Don't go back, Solomon is in primary school over here and the holiday time doesn't coincide with the domestic holidays."

At these words, Rupert's eyes flickered with a loss, the expected answer.

Over the years, father and son never returned to the country either.

Every year, he took his parents and went to visit them, father and son, for a few short days, and then flew back.

Hector has been abroad for the past few years and, after getting over that period of decadence, has been fully focused on developing the company.

Borrowing from the Rogers Group's original estate, the company expanded abroad.

He now runs the JS Group, which is already a very large group in France, comparable in strength to the Rogers Group in the country.

Having run the company to this sick level in just three years, you can imagine how much work Hector does on a daily basis.

Mr Fletcher and Mrs Matriarch, although they don't say much, Rupert often sees them staring at the pictures of their son and grandson, their eyes overflowing with longing. This episode is particularly evident at the time of the festival.

Without Hector and Solomon, the house is even emptier and a little colder, as if it is not quite complete.

"Brother, are you still unable to let go of your sister-in-law?"

That's why I'm afraid to return to this sad place.

Rupert subconsciously spoke up and asked, his voice low.

As soon as the words were out of his mouth, Hector's pencil gave a lurch and the signature arced across the white rice paper.

His eyes tickled with intense emotion and his throat tightened.

A moment later, Rupert heard his scattered reply, "Well, I'll never put her down."

Then the screen went black and Hector on the other end ended the call.

The action was so fast that Rupert couldn't help but wonder if he had just hallucinated.

Hector hung up the phone with a pained look tinting his bemused expression.

He pressed his temples and his mind kept coming back to Eloise's every smile, driving him crazy with missing.

They say time is the best medicine, but over the years, as time passes, the longing grows stronger every day.

The sun is dipping in the west, a grey curtain covers the sky and the twilight is pallid.

The heat of the day lifts, the tired birds return to the forest and the city becomes a little gentler, overlaid with a sense of tranquillity.

Later in the evening, on the estate, an elderly butler-like man strides off and heads upstairs to his study.

The door was left open, half-open.

Through the door you can see Hector sitting in front of his desk, solemnly attending to official business. He raised his withered hand and tapped it.

Not long after, a man's slightly bland voice came from inside, "Come in."

The old butler gently pushed the door in, bent down and said respectfully, "Sir, it's time for you to go down to dinner." Hector looked up and shook his head slightly as he flicked his thin lips and said, "I'm not eating yet, I'm not hungry yet."

It is important to finish the business at hand first.

The butler nodded at his words, his heart actually wanting to advise Hector.

But knowing his temperament, it is useless to say more.

Looking at Hector, the butler thinks of Solomon downstairs and wants to say something.

Hector called out to the butler as he hesitantly turned to leave and ordered him to do so.

"By the way, send some food to that brat, and don't say I made it happen, just say you stole it out."

A pleased smile spread across the old butler's face, "Fine, fine, I'll go right away, you still love the little prince."

Hector stifled a grunt of disbelief, "I was afraid he'd starve, and Eloise used to love Solomon the most. I'm just afraid she'll replace out I'm abusing the brat and come back for me later." When mentioning Eloise, Hector's tone is much more natural, as if convinced that Eloise will return one day.

Although my heart still aches, I'm not as careful as I was at the beginning.

Because he felt that if one day everyone would stop talking about Eloise, then she would really be gone from this world.

Hector stubbornly believes that she is still alive.

He didn't need to hide anything, because he did miss Eloise, like crazy.

Butler Zhang looked at Hector's nostalgic expression and smiled with emotion as he thought of the way he used to be so spirited.

"I'm going down to see the little prince, so you should eat more or less when you're done, don't hurt yourself."

Having said that, he retreated in the direction of the door.

With some western pastries in hand, he walked towards the corner with a big smile.

Solomon was crumbling against the wall when he suddenly caught a whiff of sweetness.

His nose twitched and he followed the smell.

At the sight of the butler, Solomon's face smiled and he called out sweetly.

The butler stroked Solomon's head and enquired amiably, "Little prince, are you hungry?"

Solomon's eyes were glued to the pastry in the butler's hand upon his arrival.

Saliva is secreted and salivated.

Raising a hand to wipe the corner of his mouth, Solomon gulped and said pitifully, "I'm hungry, but Daddy won't let me eat dinner because I've made a mistake." The small, pink face with this aggrieved expression is truly endearing.

The butler hurriedly shoved the item in Solomon's hand and gently coaxed him, "It's okay, you'll have a few bites, sir won't blame you."

"That won't do, will it, I have to listen to Daddy."

Solomon grimaced and grabbed the plate and pushed it towards the housekeeper, but with a strong hand, trying to resist.

After a few moments of agonising, he gritted his teeth and pushed the food away.

"Take it back, Grandpa, I'm not hungry yet."

As soon as the words were spoken, the stomach rumbled in response, the sound moving.

Solomon blushed and rubbed his hands together in embarrassment.

The butler shook his head in amusement at the sight.

"If he punishes you later, you can tell your mother. She has always loved you and would never bear to see you punished." He persuaded in a soft voice. Solomon sniffed, a complex look covering his dark eyes.

Soon it was back to business as usual.

He curled his lips and smiled happily.

Yes, his mummy has more power than his daddy.

Having gotten past the mental hurdle, Solomon took the food and gobbled it up.

At that moment, a man walked in through the door.

The butler nodded at him as a greeting.

"Is the boss home?"

"It's in the study, just go up there."

The butler nodded and pointed in the direction of the study.

The visitor was Thomas, Hector hadn't been in France long and Thomas had followed him over.

He nodded towards the butler and then headed straight for the study.

Once inside, the door to the room was unlocked and closed.
