Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 671: Investigating Marian
Staring at Marian's departing back, Hector's brow furrowed slightly and his fingers, which had been tapping carelessly on the desk, suddenly stopped. Looking in the direction of the doorway, Hector's thin lips were pursed into a straight line.
A suspicious glint tickled the eyes.
This Marian, who has been repeatedly missing out on everything she's been given to do lately. Once or twice for minor faults, he said nothing.
But to let Agnes slip through the cracks was a huge transgression.
It displeased him and made him wonder about Marian.
Three years ago, she lost Eloise in the same way.
A hint of ruthlessness ticked up under Hector's eyes at the thought.
Marian didn't used to do things this way, his staff had a near-zero error rate, except for Marian ... When things go wrong, there is a demon.
Hector stood up suddenly, picked up his phone and walked to the blinds, a chill flooding his eyes. He dialed Thomas's number.
"Come to me immediately, you have ten minutes."
Having said that, he hung up the phone.
Thomas listened to the cold lowering of Hector's voice and didn't dare slow down, rushing over nimbly.
It wasn't long before Thomas, wiping beads of sweat from his forehead, stood panting and settled in front of Hector.
With his hands on his knees, he lifted his head and asked under his breath, "Chief ... President, do you have any orders?"
Hector turned around, his voice sounding as if it were permeating from an ice cellar with a piercing chill.
"You look into Marian, it shouldn't be that simple with Agnes."
Hector said, unable to help but lean his eyebrows towards the middle.
Thomas, for his part, was simply dumbfounded, thinking he had heard the wrong name.
Just in case, he asked again.
"Who do you mean?"
"Marian, I don't want to repeat myself a second time, go and replace out what she did that day and if there was anything out of the ordinary." Hector said with some impatience, his tone snapping a few notches.
Thomas swallowed hard, which convinced him that he had heard correctly.
The heart is shocked.
His bosses have never been suspicious of anyone.
Investigating Marian shows that, Hector doesn't trust her anymore.
For subordinates, this is fatal.
With a vague sense of concern, Thomas looked at Hector and wanted to say something.
He wanted to speak up for Marian, but things hadn't been investigated and he didn't know where to start.
That he felt Marian was too loyal to do such a thing?
The human heart is unpredictable and no one knows what lies beneath the belly.
After thinking about it for a long time, he finally had to nod reluctantly.
"I will look into it and get back to you as soon as possible."
Hector grunted sullenly and instructed Thomas, "Agnes' whereabouts, track her down as soon as possible as well, and make sure you get her back."
A vague worry slowly surfaced at the thought of Agnes, and his eyes became obscure.
Agnes' escape was like a ticking time bomb that reassured him.
This crazy woman better not do anything stupid again!
"Ah Autumn ..."
A gust of gusty wind blew through and Agnes, who was wandering limply through the streets, suddenly shivered.
She looked around in alarm, a wary look on her face.
She escaped from Hector, but the fear lingers in her bones.
There is a constant fear of being taken back again.
Not far away, a child was staring at her, curiously gawking at something.
Agnes glared at the boy and immediately brought the man to tears.
The child's mother was nearby and gave a look of horror at the sight of Agnes covered in rags.
Panicked, they went up and took the child away.
People around her began to cast strange glances at her as well.
With her hair loose and her skin still festering, Agnes looks like a madman at the moment.
It's not good for her to draw attention to herself.
Agnes covered her face with her hair in some panic, her eyes darting around, desperate to be invisible immediately.
Looking at it, she fixes her eyes on the inside of a bin.
After a few seconds, she moved over, dragging her crippled legs, and raked down the bins, rummaging through them one by one, like a vicious wolf. Rummaging through all the rubbish bins along the street, Agnes found some clothes and food discarded by others.
Running to a public toilet and choosing the plainest one, Agnes disguised herself.
Brush your hair out of the way, put on a mask and hide in the crowd.
At last she was not too much of an eyesore, looking like a sick person with a cold.
Having done all this preparation, Agnes managed to replace Eloise by following the place Marian had told her about. Then hid in the shadows and waited slowly.
An hour later, Eloise walked out.
The movement of her stretching fell into Agnes' eyes.
Seeing Eloise in person, Agnes' face went white in a flash.
She stared dead into Eloise's face, her nails pinching into her flesh.
"How is it possible..."
As if she had received a huge blow, she took a few steps backwards in quick succession.
I can't believe that Eloise is still alive.
Back then, she had clearly killed her herself!
"Eloise!"
As Agnes wonders if the resemblance is the only one and not the same person, Rowson appears and gives her a hammer blow. For Eloise turned back to grant Rowson's call.
"Rowson, what brings you here?"
Eloise was a little surprised to see Rowson and asked him.
Rowson rubbed the back of his head and said warmly, "I'm on my way, just in time to pick you up from work."
He is not a good liar and his ears are slightly red.
"I'm not that far home."
Eloise said somewhat helplessly, with a little more burden on her mind.
There was actually no need to come and pick her up on purpose.
"It's not far, then it's just as well we're walking, we'll be home soon."
Hearing the implication of her words, Rowson hastened to offer, deliberately going in the other direction.
Eloise sniffed and had to agree.
The two take a slow stroll back at a very leisurely pace.
The atmosphere was awkward but both were trying to be as animated as possible, with light smiles on their faces. Agnes watched the scene with even more hatred in her heart.
Confirmation that it was Eloise swept through her heart and lungs with a fury that almost burned her to the ground. She was tortured by Hector all these days because she had gotten Eloise killed back then.
But replaceing out that Eloise is not dead and that there is a Rowson by her side, Agnes is about to fall apart.
Why should that bitch Eloise have such a good time when she's so miserable!
With a grim expression, Agnes looked resentfully at Eloise's back like a poisonous tongue spitting its wick in the dark.
She dragged her half crippled leg and followed quickly.
She swore that she would pay Eloise back ten times over for the misery she was going through!
Back at the Darlington family, at the front door, Rowson jerked back and looked towards the back.
Yet the view was empty.
Noticing the difference in Rowson, Eloise followed suit and turned around, asking suspiciously, "What's wrong? Is there something back there?"
