Love Comes To Me
Chapter 97: No Good Deed

Reeva Lawson is not afraid that Esme Lawson is behind this, and if she is found out, she may be thought of by Hector Rogers as a woman with a snake's heart.

He's already unenthusiastic towards him now, and if he's still disgusted, there's really no way Hector Rogers will like her by then.

"I know, cousin." Esme Lawson spoke in a whisper.

Just then there was a knock on the room and the voice of the bouncer came, "Miss Reeva, are you there, please?"

Esme Lawson's heart lifted as the two men got up and opened the door to the room.

"Miss Esme, Mr Hector wants to see you about something, please come with us."

"Huh? What did Mr Hector want with me?" Esme Lawson asked suspiciously, speaking as if she didn't know anything.

"We don't know about that, just go ahead and go through."

On hearing this, Esme Lawson followed her bodyguard and left, Reeva Lawson along with her.

Inside the room, Gordon Basil sat on the floor with a face that could be described as ugly, and as soon as he saw Esme Lawson, he spoke up, "It was her, Mr Hector, who ordered me to do it." Esme Lawson blushed in panic, but Reeva Lawson held her hand tightly, as if to signal her to take it easy.

The two walked in as if nothing had happened, Reeva Lawson looked at the state of the room and spoke up in disbelief, "Hector, I heard you were looking for Esme, what's going on?"

Hector Rogers pursed his lips and his face looked grim, his eyes downcast as he wondered what he was thinking.

The two Lawson family sisters took a seat on the sofa.

Rupert Rogers looked at Gordon Basil and spoke straight up and asked, "Esme Lawson, did you instruct Gordon Basil to go after Miss Eloise for causing her to fall into the water?"

All the same age, Rupert Rogers also knew Esme Lawson in the circle and had heard from day to day that she was quite willful, Reeva Lawson liked Hector Rogers and for her Esme Lawson would most likely do such a thing. "Huh?" Esme Lawson looked at Rupert Rogers and Hector Rogers in confusion as she looked on.

"I didn't! I have no quarrel with Miss Eloise, how could I let Gordon Basil go after him!" Gordon Basil sniffed and was furious.

"Esme Lawson, you were clearly the one who told me there was a woman for me on the first floor of the deck, I was the one who approached Miss Eloise." Gordon Basil tried desperately to explain again, "Mr Hector, I'm telling you the truth, she approached me at the bathroom door at the time, there was CCTV there, you could have checked, the woman really did approach me."

Both Hector Rogers and Rupert Rogers looked at Esme Lawson, as if waiting for her to explain.

Esme Lawson spoke up sharply to explain, "No Hector, I did meet Gordon Basil, but it was to send her to one of my sisters who had been in love with her for a long time, and I was talking about the ground floor of the deck, how was I to know that... he got it wrong and went after Miss Eloise and caused Miss Eloise to fall in the water, Hector, I really didn't think things would turn out like this."

"You're full of shit, you clearly told me to go to the first floor of the deck when Miss Eloise was the only one there!" Gordon Basil was so angry that he tried to go up to Esme Lawson and hit her, but was stopped by the bouncer.

He grimaced; he had been drinking himself, but he clearly remembered Esme Lawson talking about the second deck.

Gordon Basil gave Esme Lawson a death glare; if it wasn't for this woman, he wouldn't have ended up in this situation.

"How can that be, Gordon Basil, you're the one who got drunk and misheard!" Esme Lawson's face looked aggrieved and she spoke in a sobbing voice, "Hector, how could I have gone to trouble Miss Eloise! I really did send Gordon Basil to my sister and I was surprised when she came back and told me that she had waited on deck for a long time without seeing Gordon Basil... She was in her room and if you don't believe me I can go and get her to testify,"

Reeva Lawson stood by and said, "Hector, I think there's been a misunderstanding. Esme is usually a bit willful, but she would never do something like this, and Gordon Basil is probably blaming Esme for it."

Hector Rogers narrowed his eyes slightly at the two men and finally did not indicate whether he believed Esme Lawson or not, but looked at Gordon Basil and spoke, "It seems that you do not want to do it yourself, in that case, let the whole Basil family be buried with you!"

The short sentence caused Gordon Basil to freak out, he looked dumbfounded and nodded, "I'll do it, Mr Hector, I'll do it." With those words, he then took the baseball bat that was set aside, and he gritted his teeth and struck it hard into his hand.

The arm was broken and Gordon Basil sucked in his breath, his face white with pain, but he didn't even dare to howl.

The two Lawson family sisters watched the scene in awe, almost as if they could imagine how much pain Gordon Basil was in at the moment, and both were too frightened to say a word. Hector Rogers remained calm as he ignored Esme Lawson and Reeva Lawson and got up to leave, before speaking to Hector Rogers: "All future cooperation with the Basil family is terminated." On hearing this, Gordon Basil looked ashen, but thankfully the whole Basil family was saved...

Rupert Rogers looked at the fallen man on the floor and spoke without expression, ordering his bodyguard, "Take the man to his room and get a doctor to treat him when he's an hour old." With people like that, he didn't even want his bodyguard to get a doctor.

But it would be bad luck for a man to die on this cruise ship, thought Rupert Rogers, and left the room.

The bodyguards carried the man away and before leaving, Gordon Basil looked at Esme Lawson and spoke viciously, "Esme Lawson, you will not die, I, the Basil family, will not spare you, I, Gordon Basil, will never spare you in my life!" Esme Lawson ignored it.

Gordon Basil was taken away and the scene was finally quiet, leaving only the Lawson family sisters. Both of them looked slightly pale, and the scene of Gordon Basil's broken arm kept coming back to them.

Esme Lawson sighed with relief and spoke with trembling lips, "Cousin, thanks to you for making me say that, otherwise ..."

Are her hands going to be like Gordon Basil's ... Until now, Esme Lawson was really sensing that Hector Rogers was really scary as a person.

Reeva Lawson covered her mouth and spoke fiercely, admonishing, "Keep this night to yourself and never speak of it again." Esme Lawson nodded hastily, "I know, cousin."

Reeva Lawson looked at her, still a little worried, did Hector Rogers really believe what Esme Lawson said just like that?

It's all over now, but Hector Rogers is such a meticulous man that he would have found something else if he had looked into it.

The two men slowed down and eventually went back to their rooms as well.

...

Here, after walking out, Hector Rogers turned to Rupert Rogers and said, "Go check the surveillance."
