Love Never Regrets By Roana Cyrus -
Chapter 36
Chapter 36: Victory
Serena couldn’t leave without hurting Emma’s feelings, so she was hesitant to refuse when Emma and Charlie urged her to go with them to have a meal with some people from Future Better Technology Company. They wanted to replace out the result of the morning’s bidding. Only Nina sat beside them with a gloomy expression.
Although Blair was not an employee of Future Better Technology Company, she worked in the human resources department, and because of the rumours about her
relationship with Penn, which he seemed to have confirmed, she was familiar with the top executives there. So she took Serena with her for the meal, and no one could fault her for
that.
“Lawyer Woodsen, come over here,” Julia greeted Serena warmly as she sat down to eat with them. Julia knew that Serena was a good friend of Blair’s.
Eric, the technical director, also knew Serena from Boston and had met her a few times at Future Better Technology Company. He greeted her with a smile and moved aside to make room for them.
“Lawyer Woodsen, Miss Abrams, sit here,” he said, gesturing to the seats beside him.
As luck would have it, the seats were next to Penn.
Penn glanced at her and said casually, “Sit down.”

Penn poured her a glass of lemon water, and she passed it to Blair without thinking. Penn didn’t mind and poured her another glass.
He was very serious and imposing in front of outsiders, and his presence always seemed to be oppressive. Serena was already in a bad mood because of what Nina had said about Blair, and she was also worried about the bidding result in the afternoon, so she had no appetite and only ate a few bites of the business meal. She listened to them chat instead.
“Aren’t you hungry?” Penn suddenly asked.
“I am full,” Serena replied.
Julia and Eric looked at her strangely because of their brief conversation, and then looked at Blair with a mysterious smile on their faces.
Even Blair was taken aback for a moment, as if she had smelled the scent of “adultery.” But then she realised that Serena was a very honest and obedient girl from a good family, so how could she have anything with Penn? They were at most former high school classmates who didn’t know each other well.
At that moment, Serena’s mind was focused on how to get some information from Julia about whether they would choose to cooperate with Emma or not.
She hadn’t spoken yet, but Blair was on the same
wavelength and asked on her behalf, “Mr. Humphery, Mr.

Crawford, Julia, since you’re all here, can you let me know the results of the bidding this morning?”
Sure enough, Blair knew her well. However, Penn was present, so he remained silent, and Eric and Julia naturally dared not speak.
But Blair wasn’t one to give up easily. “Can you just answer yes or no?” she asked. Blair’s voice was pleasant, and no one could resist her. She went straight to the point and asked, “Did my friend Serena’s law firm win the bid?”
Eric and Julia laughed it off, and with their boss present, who would dare to answer? Besides, they already understood that Blair was just being playful with Mr. Humphery. Serena held her breath, but ultimately realised that she didn’t need to be impatient since she would replace out the result in the afternoon. Eric and Julia didn’t respond, but Blair stared straight at Penn.
Although Blair was apprehensive about Penn, after several encounters, she found that he was not as difficult to get along with as the rumours suggested, at least not towards her. Of course, being experienced in love, she would not read too much into Penn’s attitude towards her. She could tell whether a man was interested in her at a glance.
Penn was the centre of attention wherever he went and didn’t look at Blair. He asked, “Is it you who wants to know the answer or does Lawyer Woodsen want to know?” After he spoke, he glanced at Serena casually. His words caused everyone’s attention to fall on Serena.
Blair didn’t dare to ask any further, fearing that her.

behaviour might offend Penn and make things worse. She laughed it off, saying, “Mr. Humphery, you’re doing a great job of keeping things confidential.”
Serena was also speechless. She had long been accustomed to Penn’s behaviour, and if he were willing to disclose event half a bit of information, he wouldn’t be Penn anymore. Just as she was feeling disappointed, Penn suddenly said, “Emma did a good job, and Lawyer Woodsen is even better at collecting information.” It was undoubtedly a mockery of her, mocking her for listening to his conference call over the weekend.
At first, Serena felt a little guilty, but then she suddenly realised that it was at her house, not that she was eavesdropping. If he cared, he could have held the
conference call elsewhere. For a moment, Serena was uncertain if they had been selected for the bidding, and Blair gave her a helpless look.
After finishing lunch, it was time to announce the results, so Emma brought them back to Future Better Technology Company again. Representatives from other law firms were. also present. The bidding took place in the large conference room in the morning, and Penn, Eric, and others did not show up again, only Julia came to announce the results. Emma and Charlie were used to this kind of scene, so they remained calm, but Serena couldn’t help feeling nervous. This was her first project since joining the Justice Law Office, and it was such a major project that could directly affect her entire legal career. It was impossible not to feel nervous.
Charlie sensed her nervousness and comforted her in a low voice, “It doesn’t matter whether we win this project or not.
Emma sees your abilities and hard work. If all else fails, I will personally guide you. Relax.”
Charlie was truly at ease. He had experienced many ups and downs in this industry, and he had a good impression of Serena before this, but he lacked the impulse to take it further. At this moment, seeing her profile, something seemed to hit him, and he realised it was her.
Serena was completely focused on listening to Julia’s official speech on stage, and she only breathed a sigh of relief when Julia mentioned Emma Thompson from the Justice Law Office’s name. They had won the bid. Everything seemed to be expected, yet it was also unbelievable.
“Emma, please come with me to the conference room later to sign the contract and discuss the specific details of the collaboration.”
“Okay,” Emma nodded.
The other lawyers came to congratulate them one after another, and Serena helped respond in a daze. Later, she followed Emma to Julia’s conference room to discuss the details of the collaboration. Serena only had to listen and take notes, and she hadn’t even predicted how hard the previous project had been.
