Love or Die CEO’s Daily Dose of Swoon Chapter 54

Chapter 54

Lorna felt as though she were in a dream.

Born into a family with a long standing academic tradition, she had always been reserved and not particularly adept at socializing.

Rachel, on the other hand, had been a fixture among the socialite wives, boasting an extensive network of influential friends, which bolstered her status in the family.

Laurinda’s frequent jibe at Lorna was that she hadn’t brought any benefit to the family

But now, Mrs. Collins, whom Rachel had so painstakingly courted and appeased, even managing to secure an audition through her efforts, maintained an air of unshakable arrogance within the Delaney family. Yet, at that moment, Mrs. Collins behaved with unexpected gentleness, holding Lorna’s hand as if they were the closest

sisters

“No need to see me off, dear. Head back now!”

Mrs. Collins was about to prepare a gift and visit Stanton with Joy in tow.

Once the group had left, Cordelia supported Lorna as they walked back. It was only then that Lorna seemed to snap back to reality. Clutching Cordelia’s hand, Lorna was brimming with emotion in her eyes and said, “Lia, you are so much more amazing than I had ever imagined!”

Their conversation continued as they made their way back into the living room.

Just as they stepped through the door, a cup was hurled their way.

Cordelia quickly pulled Lorna back, narrowly avoiding the flying porcelain. When they looked up, they saw Laurinda, who had remained silent during Stanton’s visit, glaring at them furiously, “You ungrateful traitor! If you’re so close with Stanton, why would you help someone else take the only spot from Juliana? Don’t you know who your family is? You’re from the Delaney family, not the Collin family!”

Cordelia raised an eyebrow slowly at this outburst.

Laurinda hadn’t dared to utter a word in front of Stanton and Mrs. Collins, but now that they were gone, she let her anger fly. What a classic case of bullying her own families!

Juliana, standing beside her, had tears welling in her eyes, staring at Cordelia maliciously, as if Cordelia did something wrong. Rachel seemed lost in a daze, clearly shaken by the event today with signs of weariness.

Lorna was no longer meek as she used to be

Since Sanderson had told her that a division of the family assets was inevitable, she had grown confident. Now, faced with such accusations, Lorna retorted sharply. “If I heard correctly, wasn’t it Juliana and Rachel who refused the opportunity offered by Stanton out of consideration for Lia? They’re the ones who said no, right? As a member of the Delaney family, we stand by merit. If we get this opportunity through connections, wouldn’t that sound terrible? We don’t exploit favors. Right?”

Rachel and Juliana were at a loss for words.

These were their words being thrown back at them, unaltered, by Lorna!

After delivering her piece, Lorna ignored those sour expressions and led Cordelia upstairs.

Upon reaching the top of the stairs, they encountered Madeline standing at the landing. At the sight of them, Madeline called out in a strained voice, her portly figure blocking their path, “Lorna and Lia, you’re back?”

She smiled reluctantly on her swarthy face, with her fat body stopping in front of the two. Her voice was loud as she said, “Lia, since you’re on such good terms with Stanton, why don’t you introduce him to Rosina? She’s not a member of the Delaney family and doesn’t care too much.”

Cordelia was at a loss for words. She had never encountered such a brazen woman. Cordelia was moment

flustered by Madeline’s unashamed request.

While Madeline spoke, her eyes darted towards Cordelia’s room, her demeanor anxious, her words seeming to

stall for time.

Suddenly, Cordelia had a realization. If Rosina wasn’t downstairs or here, then she must be…

With a furrowed brow, Cordelia brushed past Madeline and dashed directly to her room.

“Hey, Lia, where are you going? I’m talking to you!” Madeline reached out to grab her, but Cordelia had already reached the door and pushed it open with force.

Inside the room. Rosina was rummaging through the desk, with books and papers strewn about the floor.

As Cordelia entered, Rosina turned her head to look, only to see the slender figure of Cordelia at the doorway. Cordelia might have looked like a sweet girl, but at that moment, she was expressionless, and her eyes blazed with a stern light, “What are you looking for?”

Rosina felt a sudden panic, her words stumbling as she knocked over a glass of water, spilling it across the scattered papers on the floor.

She forced a smile, babbling, “I was just looking for some self–taught piano materials, but your desk is such a mess… I can’t make heads or tails of it…”

She had actually come to search for music scores. A single composition by Stanton could fetch an astronomical price!

Since he had said Cordelia’s piano skills were no less than his own, her compositions would sell for even more. However, after her investigation, all Rosina came across were heaps of inscrutable math scribbles, nothing

more.

She looked back at Cordelia, pleadingly, “Cordelia, don’t hide your talents from me. Teach me how to play the piano, or at least show me some of your compositions.”

After her request, she fixed her gaze on Cordelia, waiting. After a couple of seconds, Cordelia finally spoke, her voice cool and distant, “Get out, or shall I help you out?”

Rosina was taken aback, “What?”

In the next instant, Cordelia stepped forward and grabbed Rosina by the collar. Without effort, she tossed the heavyset Rosina out of the room as if she weighed nothing.

“Hey, we’re family, what’s wrong with being in your room for a bit? You….” Rosina started to protest.

The door shut again, hitting Rosina on the nose!

Peace finally returned to the world.

Cordelia was growing weary of the family squabbles. If it weren’t for the presence of Lorna and Sanderson, she would have likely left long ago.

Cordelia took a deep breath and bent down to pick up the scattered math scribbles from the floor. Rosina had hoped to make a quick buck selling her melodies, but who would’ve guessed that the real treasure in the room were these crumpled pages she barely gave a second glance?

Some sheets were so soaked that the ink had run, but lucky for her, Cordelia had the entire composition memorized. Rewriting it wouldn’t be a problem.

But didn’t she promise Mathster the solution would be ready today? That thought nagged at Cordelia as she grabbed her phone and shot off a quick text to Mathster.

Miles away in Ontoky City, Frankie was mingling at a high–profile science symposium when his phone screen lit up. A message from LearnLover popped up.

LearnLover explained, “Sorry, I ran into a bit of a snag. The answer’s going to take another couple of days!

Frankie wasn’t surprised. In his mind, this little girl was ambitious, but proving such a theorem? He doubted it and thought this was just stalling.

He typed back, “No worries if you can’t crack it.’

LearnLover stressed, ‘It should be sorted in two days.

Frankie couldn’t help but sigh. What was the point in pushing the deadline back again? If she couldn’t solve it. just say so!
