Adam was distressed over his son. He knew his words wouldn't be of much help, so he turned to Carter. "Can you talk to Jeffrey? Luke's been kneeling all night, his body can't handle it." Though Jeffrey was the rock of the family, Carter's presence was undeniable, and even Jeffrey had to give him some respect:
