Love's perfect match novel (Elspeth and Callum)
Chapter 723 Side Story: Efforts in Pursuing Her 5

Hank probably won't come back to save me. After all, I said so many hurtful things just now. Anyone in their right mind would've just left me behind. Yelena was disappointed for a while before she began to cook up a new plan. The man pressed his filthy hand against her face, and Yelena steeled herself before she sank her teeth into his flesh.

"Ah! You brat! How dare you bite me?! Let me show you what I'm capable of!" The man was fuming as he began to strip her top off. However, before he got to see what was under it, the man felt his hand being dragged aside by another force. He gritted his teeth in pain before looking up to see the man who had pulled him aside. When he saw Hank, he felt slightly intimidated. "Who are you? Why are you sticking you nose into my business?"

Hank felt his chest aching when he saw Yelena, who was trembling while hiding behind him. "You tried to mess with my woman. Did you just say I'm sticking my nose into your business?" Hank's expression was icier than ever.

Even though the man felt embarrassed by his actions, he tried sticking to the tough act he had put on earlier. "Your woman? I bet you're just a busybody. Do you know who I am? I promise that you'll suffer if you dare mess with me!" the man yelled.

Hank spread his lips into a smirk that seemed especially malicious under the light and hissed, "Are you threatening me right now?"

"You" The man was shocked by Hank's aura, and he was too terrified to speak for a while. He knew better than to fight when the odds were against him, for he could tell that Hank was a lot more powerful than him.

As such, he fell to his knees with a loud thud. "I'm sorry. It was a mistake to have offended a reputable man like you. Please let me go."

Hank loosened his grip on the man without saying much. Instead, he pulled his handkerchief out of his pocket and wiped his hand before tossing the cloth on the man's face. "I'm disgusted whenever I interact with people like you."

Hank had always been a clean freak, and he was averse to coming in contact with other people and things in general. After touching the man's slimy hand, he felt nauseous for a while.

The man was boiling on the inside, but he felt too threatened to express any of his anger. He had no choice but to force a smile onto his face. "Yes, yes. I am pretty disgusting. Will you let me go now, sir?"

Hank raised his chin in agreement. "Get out."

The man hadn't expected to be set free so quickly. It seems like that woman doesn't mean that much to this man, he thought.

He got to his feet and thanked Hank before he scrambled off.

Then, Hank turned around to check on Yelena. "Are you okay?" he asked while putting his jacket over her shoulders.

It was rather cold that night, and Yelena felt a lot better after putting a jacket on. However, she couldn't shake off the heavy feeling in her chest. Perhaps Hank was so forgiving of that guy because I don't matter all that much to him. She recalled how there had once been a man who messed with her while she was at a bar a long time ago. Hank beat that man up so badly that the man had to go to the hospital. Well, people and things change, she thought.

When Hank noticed the look of disappointment on her face, he lifted her chin and realized tears were streaming down her face. He intended to tease her at first, but he felt his insides melting when he saw the woman crying.

"What is it? Why are you crying?" he asked in a gentle tone.

Yelena had no idea why she ended up crying like a loser. She frantically wiped her tears off her cheeks before explaining, "It's nothing. I was probably just shocked," she replied.

Hank knew that it was unlikely for Yelena to cry out of shock, so he stroked her hair tenderly. "I didn't just let him go. I'm still getting revenge for you. My men are waiting down the road, and that guy is going to suffer tonight."

He tried his best to speak calmly and softly, but he couldn't conceal the hatred in his voice as he uttered his final sentence.

She stopped crying after hearing Hank's words and widened her eyes.

Hank took one look at her before he pulled her into his arms. "Are you still going to chase me off?"

Yelena scoffed and tried to push him away, but she soon realized how strong his arms were. She couldn't escape his grip at all. "I didn't chase you off. I was just heading home like usual," she replied.

"Well, regardless of what happens in the future, I don't want you to ever chase me off again, okay? What are you going to do if I'm not around the next time something like this happens? What will I do then?" Even though Hank sounded rather anxious, there wasn't any blame in his words. He was genuinely concerned for the woman's safety.

Yelena no longer fooled around with him this time, and she simply nodded obediently. After that, Hank held onto her hand and walked her back to the Sullivan Residence without saying much. He only let go of her after they arrived.

"Alright, you should head in. I'll watch you go inside," he offered.

"Thank you for the jacket," Yelena uttered while she removed his jacket and handed it to him. However, Hank didn't take it from her. "You can hold onto it," he uttered with a straight face. Yelena didn't get the chance to respond as he continued, "You can wash it for me."

Great. He just wants me to wash this for him, eh? Yelena rolled her eyes as she brought the jacket home with her. Fine, I'll wash it.

Yelena didn't wake up to the warm rays of the sun the next morning. Instead, she woke up to an announcement.

"A date?!" She was brushing her teeth by the time her father gave her the details. She nearly swallowed her toothpaste after hearing her father's words.

Francis hastily attempted to reassure her when he saw how frantic she seemed. "Don't worry, my dear. I promise you that your date is from a good family. I've met the guy, and he's really handsome. I'm sure you'll like him!"

Yelena halted her movements as she felt a surge of mixed emotions arising in her chest. Francis hadn't opposed her decision when she first told him that she wanted to get engaged with Hank. In fact, Francis had been extremely supportive of her.

When Yelena decided to cut ties with Hank, Francis didn't seem to blame or criticize her. She could tell that her father genuinely wanted her to marry into a good family and to have a supportive partner.

Sigh. Yelena wanted to say more, but she swallowed most of her words in the end. "I don't mind meeting him, but I'll get to decide if I want to date him."

This was the first time she had ever agreed to such an arrangement, so Francis was overjoyed. "Don't worry. Marriage is indeed a big deal, so I won't force you to do anything you don't want to. Your preferences will come first," he offered.

"Well, since you've agreed to it, I'll contact the man now. You guys can meet this afternoon to see if you guys are a good match for one another," Francis suggested. Then, he hummed an upbeat tune as he left Yelena to continue brushing her teeth.

Soon enough, another uninvited guest showed up beside her. "I can't believe you agreed to this, Yelena. Someone's going to be sad."

Hex had always been a rather mean person, and he made it a point to tease Yelena after hearing that she was going on a date.
