The reporters posed another question. “Miss Yeager, when did you and Mister Hart call off yourengagement?”

Avery’s expression soured slightly, but she replied, “We ended our engagement the day after Tylermade his statement.”

“Since you’ve already ended the engagement, why hasn’t there been an official statement?”

“Tyler was concerned that negative comments online would target me, so we decided not to go publicat the time.”

The reporters pressed on. ‘ Regarding the incident where you were seen meeting with the man fromthe video, Miss Yeager, could you explain that?”

Announcing the end of their engagement was a secondary matter; the main purpose was to clarify thisparticular incident.

“Someone created some fabricated photos to threaten me, saying they’d spread them if I didn’t complywith their demands,” Avery explained.

The reporters turned to Tyler. “Mister Hart, is this true?”

Tyler nodded. “Avery was being threatened and didn’t know what to do, so she called me. After I foundout, I suggested going with her to face the situation. The allegations of her having an affair and mebeing there to catch her in the act, as reported in the news, are untrue.”

Subsequently, the reporters asked more questions, but all were resolved with answers that left no roomfor criticism.

At the first glance of this interview, an ominous feeling overwhelmed Noah. He looked at the group ofpeople currently discussing Harvey and Vicky’s engagement, wedding, and honeymoon destinations.

That foreboding feeling worsened.

Since the day he attended Avery and Tyler’s wedding, he had felt something strange about Avery beingcaught in that video. Though the issue of her meeting her supposed ‘lover’ had been skillfully resolved,most people knew the truth and knew that any action that followed was merely a vain attempt tosalvage her pride.

Avery’s reputation had been thoroughly tarnished.

‘Is it just my imagination, or is Avery’s luck running out?’ he thought. ‘Now, Tyler and Avery ended theirengagement, so who would be the next unfortunate woman Tyler targets?’

Noah’s gaze unintentionally shifted to Vicky.

The sky had darkened by the time the birthday banquet ended.

Aurora carried a bag of gifts as she and Vicky headed upstairs to Vicky’s new apartment. “Vicky, whydid you suddenly move to a new place? Weren’t you living comfortably in your old apartment?”

Vicky replied, “I just felt like the vibe in that place wasn’t good.”

“Vibe?” Aurora, who had grown up in a different culture and did not quite grasp the concept. However,from her time in the film industry, she had a rough idea of what it usually entailed. ‘Is your placehaunted?” 1

Vicky was silent for a few moments. “Sort of.”

After stepping into the new place, Aurora, who enjoyed unwrapping gifts, urged, “Vicky, you receivedquite a lot of gifts today. Why don’t we go ahead and unwrap them?”

“Sure.”

The two of them started unwrapping the gifts and saw the perfume given by Jennifer, the earrings givenby Cece, and the bracelet given by Aurora.

Aurora then handed Vicky the biggest box. “Go on! Let’s see what Mister Sparks prepared for you.”

Vicky studied the box curiously and cut the wrapping open with a pair of scissors.

Thunk!

Vicky jolted in shock and dropped the scissors onto the floor.

Aurora’s eyes widened in fear. “Oh my god!”

Inside the box lay a pair of dolls of a wedding couple with their heads torn off.
