Lycanthropy
Chapter Eight

Word has spread around surrounding cities, that a new pack had been settled in the mountains. Hence, more and more people came to join in our ranks. And just like the first members that joined us, the new ones had to prove their worth, before being able to join in.

Soon, we housed over a hundred people, in all the tunnels and chambers that were inside the majestic mountain. Outside we trained everyone, and during that time, either me or Terrence was mining the gold, whenever we needed. Besides that, we had set up a hunting company as well, to earn some profit, and logical income, as we couldn’t really explain the gold vein, out of fear of thieves.

So, I took care of all the financial documents, and training, Terrence took care of security and training as well, and Amy was my politically correct liaison, because as she would say: “Our Alpha, is built for battle, not for communication.”

I heard our new perimeter alarm go off, and Terrence instantly linked me that we were under attack. Our first attack as a pack. I never was one to be stressed, but now that we have people to take care of, the pressure was high.

Through the pack link I notified every female and child to stay inside the mountain, and all our warriors to get outside. Terrence then told everyone not to be alarmed yet, and that we will send updates as soon as possible.

“You have to train yourself in being a leader who cares. Maybe follow a ‘how-to-make-a-friend-workshop’? Dakota said.

“Shut it!”

I went outside and smelled the air, the ones that attacked us, weren’t rogues! I know that I’m not the nicest person, as Amy had said multiple times, but what pack would want to attack us? There isn’t a neighbouring pack that I have been bothering, so why bother us?

We ran down the slope, and I could see wolves running up the slope, towards us. They were on MY mountain!

I jumped up and shifted mid-air, tearing my clothes to pieces. The first wolf that bared its teeth, got his jugular bitten out of his neck. I swung his lifeless body around and threw it down the mountain. As we kept on running downwards, more and more wolves got killed by me, and were thrown down.

Behind me I heard my pack’s warriors howl in joy. They had never seen me angry, or seen my big white wolf yet.

When we were down the slope, my warriors spread out around me, and attacked the pack of wolves that stood in front of us. Terrence took the lead in attacking the bunch of wolves on the left, and one of my strongest warriors went to the right. I searched in the middle, to replace the Alpha that started this war.

I roared massively, trying to get the coward Alpha, out of his hiding place. But not only the Alpha came from behind a tree, but every other enemy wolf, panicked in my presence. I heard soft squeaks in fear, others growled, but submissively lowered their heads, before trying to fight again.

My teeth bare, and growling in anger, I slowly stalked my way up to the lousy, hiding Alpha. I shifted to my human form, without caring that I was butt naked in front of him. As I approached him closer, some of his warriors had the audacity to attack me from the sides. Of course, within a second their hearts were torn out, and their bodies laid lifeless on the ground.

Their Alpha shivered and had his tail, in between his legs.

“Shift!” I commanded.

The stronger the Alpha, the more people you can command. And normally Alphas can’t command another Alpha that easily. But this shitty Alpha, who attacked my pack with a reason, which I was keen to replace out, was so puny, and so arrogant, to think that he could take over a newly formed pack that easily.

He shifted to his human form and tried to intimidate me with his height.

Yeah, like that is going to work.

“Who are you! And why are you attacking my pack?”

“I’m Alpha Jack, of the Blue Moon Pack.” He said, while trying to keep a steady voice. “You can’t be the Alpha! They said his name was Emerson!” He continued.

I know that Emerson is a masculine name, but to meet a person that assumes anything from hear-say, is annoying me enormously.

From the top of my lungs I let out a roar. I shifted half way, growing in height as I took control over my wolf form. The fur on my back rose, and my claws and muscles grew in size. Being half wolf and half human, gave me control over everything, and I was still able to talk.

“I AM ALPHA EMERSON!” I roared again, and he shrunk down, bowing to me and baring his neck in submission.

With my claws I grabbed his throat, and dragged him to the battle field, where my fierce warriors fought well against the warriors of this pity of an Alpha.

“You can either run and leave this place as a coward, or willingly leave this Alpha of yours and submit to me!” I yelled to the Blue Moon Pack members, with my raspy voice.

They all looked astound, some of them tried to run away, but got followed by a few of my warriors, when I nodded to them. The cowards have the chance to get out of it alive, but they have to be fast to do that. Since I let my warriors train in every weather condition, even in a snow storm, and make them run up the mountain each morning, they are faster than most other wolves.

Within a minute I heard the enemy wolves being caught and killed. I was proud of my warriors. They did good tonight.

Quickly after that, some of the other enemy wolves bowed their heads and showed me their necks. Stupid fear of them.

“If you are submitting to me, out of fear of being killed otherwise, I don’t want you here! I want my pack to be submissive to me out of loyalty!” I said.

“This will be a one-time offer, If you truly want to be loyal to a worthy Alpha, then shift now. If you are doing this out of fear, you can leave. I won’t send my warriors after you.” I continued.

About twenty warriors shifted and stood up. They bowed to me and I pointed them to step aside.

“If you have mates and cubs, then they will be arranged to be transferred here.” I said to them and they nodded.

The Alpha that was still lying on the ground beneath me, stood up as well, and wanted to walk over to his lost warriors.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I yelled at him.

“I- I’m submitting to you.” He said stammering.

I was dumbfounded. There was no word that would come out of my mouth, that was even close to something English.

“You send your warriors to a pack of which you didn’t have the right intel, cowardly hid behind a tree, and now you want to submit? You are not worthy of being called an Alpha! My Alpha is granting you the mercy of not killing you on sight, and now you have the audacity to assume you can enter her pack? What of your pack then? You idiot!” Terrence suddenly said.

He took the words right out of my mouth. I couldn’t have come up with any of these words, I was just struck by lightning, a strike of stupidity. I couldn’t fathom that this ‘Alpha’ was so weak, that he wanted to live in another pack, and submit to another Alpha!

“How much land does your territory cover?” I asked the puny Alpha.

“I own the towns between here and the southern river, and the one twenty miles west of that, which is where also our packhouse is.”

“Not anymore you don’t.”

“I don’t what?” He asked confused.

I pulled out his throat with my claws.

“Own anything.” I said, while blood gushed out of his body, and sprayed all over me.
