Chapter 72
Days blended into one another. Kat’s posse had liberated her from house arrest as they deemed it. I got an earful from all their nosy asses all except for the planner who seemed to be a new permanent fixture.
She hung back and let Char, Tina, Stacey and mom do their thing. I refrained from telling them all to jump off a cliff but Kat paid for it at night. I’m not sure how she explained away the new twist to her walk, but I knew every morning she left my bed a dragging mess.
“You’re coming to work with me today.”
“Can’t I’ve got stuff.”
“You’re with me.” She pouted but knew better than to give me shit; I needed her in the office if only to deal with grumpy Grimaldi.
I’d forgotten to call him and he was threatening to string me up by my balls if I didn’t tell him what was going on with his girl Kat. Telling him to f**k off hadn’t been a help he just got more and more persistent.
“Eat your breakfast babe we gotta run.”
“I think I’m full, my tummy feels weird.”
I stopped with my fork halfway to my lips. “You sick?” She shook her head no but her face looked a little green.
Maybe I shouldn’t have been so rough on her in bed this morning but she liked to tease me until I was out of control these days, part of her freak fetish I guess.
“Come.” She climbed into my lap so I could feel her forehead for fever and check her throat and shit.
“Nothing seems off babe what hurts?”
“Nothing hurts I just feel a little bleh.” She was off my knee and running for the bathroom in the next second with me hot on her tail.
I held her hair back while she was sick, her pitiful little heaves making me want to bundle her up and put her back to bed.
“Babe, what the f**k?”
“I think I ate something.” I helped clean her up and get dressed, now she was definitely coming to work with me where I could keep an eye on her.

She spent way too much time on the phone laughing it up with that old f**k Grimaldi and from part of the conversation I knew the old reprobate was talking shit about me, whatever.
Mom must’ve called six million times about wedding shit; don’t forget to pick up your new tux that had been altered, don’t forget to take dad and Cy and Drake to get their hair cuts; like I’m their father or some shit. She needs to remind her husband not to show up high to his son’s wedding that’s what she needs to do.
They had some f****d up idea about Kat spending the night before the wedding at mom and dad’s, yeah right. She was lucky she got to go to the bachelorette party, which I worked around by having my thing two doors down.
I gave a f**k about everyone telling me how silly I was being. Kat knew better than to say shit or her little a*s wouldn’t have been going anywhere.
Things worked out fine because they were all toasted. I’m not sure how the proprietor of the establishment dealt with almost a hundred tipsy loud a*s women in his place.
When I’d heard talk of a swinging d**k as part of the entertainment all it had took was an arched brow in Kat’s direction and she’d nixed that shit. I don’t know where my mother comes up with this shit.
The men had kept their heads because we knew it was the girls’ night and we had to be there for them. I got my way over mom and Tina and their bullshit; she came home with me.
After another night of raunchy nasty a*s f*****g it was time to get ready for our wedding. She was sick again and I wasn’t sure if it was from her night of debauchery or if she was really sick.
“We’re going to the doctor in the morning.”
“Colton tomorrow’s Sunday there’s no doctor’s office open.”
“We’ll replace one, I don’t like you being sick all the time like this this is bullshit.” I was about to lose my shit because let’s face it; I can’t stand to see her in pain.
I cleaned her up once more and told myself to remember to ask dad for a name. The women came over and kicked me out as usual so I had to go over to mom and dad’s to get dressed.
Dad, Drake and Cyrus were putting on their monkey suits and helping each other get it together. Dad was looking sharp if a little red in the eye. He kept slapping me on the back and saying ‘good man’.
Drake had a smile on his face because his little girl was being taken care of and he knew it. We didn’t need to have a long drawn out man to man, all it took was a thanks for taking such good care of her and a you’re welcome and we were done.

The crew rode ahead of my limo on their bikes, f*****g show offs; their wives of course were in limos themselves.
We decided not to do the whole wedding party thing because there were too many people to choose from and we didn’t want anyone feeling left out.
Instead the crew all wore tuxes and their women purple and silver. The chapel was packed when I walked out to stand in front with the minister, priest, what the ahem, yeah.
I wasn’t so much nervous as I was ready to get shit over with; I couldn’t wait for tomorrow when she’d officially be mine, f**k that felt good.
She came down the aisle on her father’s arm smiling nervously from under her veil, that’s when my knees started to go weak.
When I looked at the vision coming towards me and it hit me that she really was mine, that from this moment forward I will be responsible for her. I’ll be the man to her woman, her protector, her shield, her lover her friend. It will be my job to see that she was happy.
Just as the minister started to speak there was a ruckus at the entrance, everyone turned to see what was going on. Jennifer Rossetti was standing there looking like hell.
Her hair was a mess she looked like she’d been sleeping in her clothes for a week and she had madness in her eyes.
I pushed Kat behind me because I had no idea what was about to go down. I needn’t have bothered because my boys were up and forming a wall between her and us as soon as they recognized her.
Then the bitch started screaming and I wanted to shoot the f**k. “You killed my brother I know you did; you and that whore.” I could barely see over Jared’s head to where she was trying to get past the line.
“Did you all know she lured those boys in Arizona with s*x and then cried rape?” Kat had to pull me back then and even Drake was out of his seat; dad had a hold of mom who I’m sure would like nothing better than to pop Jennifer one.
Before any of us could do anything though her parents got up from their places and went after her. She screamed bloody murder and threatened all sorts of mayhem as her father dragged her outside.
Of course there was a lot of murmurings and throat clearings, me I was out for b***d; she had no right bringing my woman’s past into this shit.
The fact that she’d obviously lost her f*****g mind which seemed to be the general consensus of the people gathered here made no difference to me.

The rest of the ceremony went off without a hitch, Kat seemed to have weathered that little debacle no worse for wear and with the laughter and well wishes of our family and friends it was almost soon forgotten.
“What do you want us to do about that situation Colt?” I knew what Zack meant but I’d calmed down enough to know that if we did anything suspicion would fall on us.
“Nothing for now, just keep an eye on her I guess.”
“Damn bro she’s all the way gone.”
“I know, thank f**k I dodged that f*****g bullet.”
“You did good, Kat’s solid people.”
“Thanks bro.” I looked over to where she was talking and laughing with some of the sisters. She looked carefree and happy, not a care in the world and that’s just how I wanted to keep her. She must’ve felt my eyes on her because she turned and looked at me just then.
I smiled at her and saw the little hitch in her breath before she excused herself and came towards me. She dug into the little wrist purse whatever the f**k that shit was and pulled out what looked like a plastic stick.
“Congratulations.”
“What?” I looked down at what she’d put in my hand and my ears started buzzing.
“You…. we…yeah?” She nodded and cried at the same time I heard mom squeal from across the room. Don’t faint bro, it’s not the manly thing to do.
