Marrying the Man in the Dark (Damien and Cherise) Novel -
Chapter 1061
Chapter 1061 Getting to Gwenn
Trent's eyes widened in alarm, his heart pounding in his chest. "You stalked me?! What do you want from me?"
"I don't want anything," Damien replied calmly, his smile unnervingly serene. "lI have people in your house currently enjoying some
tea."
Trent's breath caught in his throat, a wave of panic washing over him at the thought of his loved ones being held hostage.
Damien's smile widened, though it still lacked warmth. "If you refuse to heed my words, then you'll never see them ever again."
Sebastian's patience wore thin as he waited for Trent at the hotel, the clock ticking relentlessly towards noon. No matter how many
times he called Trent, Trent kept responding that he was on the way. Hearing his one-note answer, Sebastian's frustrations
continued to simmer beneath a facade of calm.
Seated on the plush hotel sofa, Sebastian's gaze drifted lazily to the TV screen, where news of city traffic monopolized the
airwaves. With a sigh, he dialed a number on his phone, his voice betraying a hint of irritation. "Have you arrived in Calais?"
The woman's response on the other end of the line was laced with icy disdain. "I've told you, I can provide anything you desire.
Why must you make it so troublesforto cto Calais?"
Sebastian's tone hardened, his patience wearing thin. "You've causedconsiderable inconvenience. I want to see you face to
face and deliver a well-deserved slap. Is that too much to ask?"
Sebastian's laughter rang out coldly, his voice devoid of any warmth. "Gwenn, do you recall the promises you made toin the
past?"
"You assuredthat if I aided you, you would relay toall the details I needed about Cherise, enablingto successfully
remove her from Damien's grasp."
"But what transpired instead?"
"You've broughtnothing but anguish and frustration."
There was a lengthy silence from the woman on the other end of the line.
Eventually, a smile tugged at the corners of her lips as she responded, her voice carrying a hint of amusement. "I've just touched
down at the Calais airport. I'll be seeing you shortly, under an hour at most."
"Very well, I'll be waiting," Sebastian's eyes glinted under the dim lights.
Then, his brow furrowed as if struck by a sudden realization. "An hour might not suffice."
"Here's the arrangement: you book a room upon your arrival, and I'll seek you out once I'm finished," he instructed, his tone firm.
Gwenn's voice remained indifferent. "What exactly do you have in mind?"
Sebastian's lips curled into a bitter smirk. "Nothing grand. Since I couldn't lay my hands on Cherise, I'll have to replace another woman
to take out my frustrations on."
Gwenn's snicker carried a cold edge. "You're truly depraved."
"Very well, once you've concluded your task, cto me, and I'll make amends," she added.
Without waiting for Sebastian's acknowledgment, Gwenn abruptly terminated the call.
After the call ended, an assistant-like figure approached Gwenn, their expression curious. "Boss, with Sebastian out of the picture,
there wasn't really a need for you to chere. We could have handled him discreetly without anyone being the wiser. Why bother
with the trip to this obscure corner of Calais?"
Gwenn's gaze remained steady as she replied, "I didn't chere solely for Sebastian."
"You see, Damien is a vigilant individual. It's hard to believe he'd let Sebastian slip away so easily," she mused, her brow furrowing
in thought.
"True," the assistant replied, "but despite Sebastian's cunning, his loss to Damien indicates he's not as astute."
"If Damien managed to outsmart him once, he can do it again," the assistant reasoned.
"Then why did Sebastian prevail this time?" Gwenn questioned, arching an eyebrow at the assistant.
A moment of silence followed as Gwenn let out a casual yawn. "It's easy to see," she continued.
"Damien's intention was merely to use Sebastian to locate me, nothing more."
Gwenn added with a lazy drawl, stifling a yawn, "Considering Damien's elaborate efforts, it would be rather insensitive ofnot to
grant him an audience, wouldn't it?"
The assistant's realization dawned abruptly. "So, boss, you're aware that it's a set-up, yet you're willingly walking into it?"
"Something to that effect," Gwenn confirmed, her demeanor unperturbed.
Gwenn let out another soft yawn before continuing, "Have you arranged for the helicopter as I requested?”
"Everything's arranged. After we've checked into the hotel, the helicopter will be ready and waiting on the rooftop," the assistant
confirmed.
"Excellent," Gwenn murmured, rising from her seat with a faint smile. The sound of her heels echoed lightly against the floor as she
declared, "Let's see Cherise and Damien and give them a proper greeting."
