Chapter 1308

Chapter 1308

Charles was incredibly flustered as his cheeks were a burning shade of red. “You people are slandering me! | never didanything!”

“Heh... You're the one who wronged her in the first place! You tried to take advantage of her because she’s pretty. I've seenplenty of men like you.”

Charles wanted to charge at them.

Sylvia and Christopher quickly held him back.

Sylvia spoke up and directly addressed Odell, “Odell, | believe him. He‘d never do something like that.”

The people who were against Charles kept their mouths shut when they saw Sylvia speaking up for him again.Odell zipped his lips into a thin line with a serious expression.

Shermaine suddenly said, “Mrs. Carter, do you have some kind of bad impression of me? Do you think I'm someone who wouldaccuse him without any grounds?”

She seemed very vexed by the situation. Sylvia frowned deeply. She had not forgotten what Shermaine had done for MadamCarter but the fact that Shermaine was now standing next to Odell in a getup that

was nearly identical to what she herself was wearing roused a strange, repulsive feeling inside her.

While she was pondering over what to say, Cliff suddenly spoke up, “Ma‘am, | know Shermaine well enough. | don't think she‘d

lie.Sylvia turned to Odell again.

He spoke at last, “I trust Shermaine too.”

He spoke in a deep and unfaltering voice.

Shermaine cast a wounded look at Sylvia as if to call for justice.

Everyone was casting the same look at Sylvia. It was as if they were accusing her of standing up for her colleagues withoutconsidering the reality of the situation.

Sylvia clenched her hand into a fist. Perhaps she had been falsely accusing Shermaine this entire time as well? She felt asuffocating feeling rising in her chest as she turned to Odell for his verdict. “How do you plan to handle this?”

Odell glanced at the hotel manager. “We're taking this to the police. Let them deal with it.”

“Alright.” The hotel manager took the hint and promptly asked, “Master Carter, who are we bringing to the police?”It seemed like he was having a hard time deciding who

was guilty here.

Odell darted a look at Charles. “Him.”

The hotel manager left after that.

Charles was infuriated by the decision and lost his mind as he yelled like a madman, “Odell, | never did anything to her! Whatright do you have to point your finger at me? Just because she’s your secretary? Are you on her side because there‘s somethingmore to your relationship with her?”

He continued advancing toward Odell. It took several men to hold him back this time.Adark gloom suddenly washed over Odell's face.Sylvia was just as caught off guard by Charles‘ remarks.

Everyone fell into an awkward silence.

Shermaine suddenly scuttled away from Odell to keep some distance from him. She declared coldly and affirmatively , “I'm onlyMaster Carter's secretary. I'm doing nothing but honest work for him. He‘s someone with a family. Hell, his wife is standing rightnext to you! You accusing me of something I've never done is one thing, but accusing Master Carter is an entirely separate andunforgivable matter!”

There was no longer any remnant of sanity in Charles’ mind by this point. “You look just like Sylvia except you're younger thanher. Who knows why Odell is

keeping you around the office as his secretary? Judging by how cunning you are, | wouldn't be surprised if you dug your clawsinto him already!” 2

“You... You have no idea what you're talking about!” Shermaine cried out and charged at him. It looked like she was going tostrike him.

It was Cliff who rushed forward and stopped her.

He dragged her aside and tried to calm her down. “Don't be rash. He's all out of options and is trying to make up any excuse todistract us from what he’s done. Don't fall for it.”

Charles exclaimed, “I was wronged! | never did anything to her. I'd never do anything as disgusting as that!”Christopher patted him on the back. “Charles, calm down.

With that, he turned to Odell. “Master Carter, Charles has been teaching at our academy for seven to eight years by this pointand | know him very well. He has a good sense of humor and is very popular with all of the students and has never been in anyscandals involving female students. Based on my years of professional teaching experience, | can assure you that he’s notsomeone who would do anything vile as molesting a woman.” Odell seemed sullen by this point. He looked at Sylvia and did notutter a word.

Someone in the crowd sneered and said with scorn in his voice, “Heh... Impressions can be wrong. I'd suggest you stopdefending him.” “Besides, look at him. He’s a grimy pervert no matter how you look at him.“
