Chapter 1458

Chapter 1458Inside a car headed toward an affluent part of Glanchester.Janine and Matthew were seated together in the back row.

Jake was in the passenger seat up front. He kept turning his head around and angrily voicing his complaint about how Sherrybarely acknowledged him in front of Carl.

“You wouldn't believe how arrogant she was! How dare she think that she can humiliate us like that?!” The more Jake thoughtabout it, the angrier he became as he roared. angrily. “You two really shouldn't have taken her back all those years ago, she’s anungrateful scum! She'll never learn!”

Matthew reacted dully, his eyes closed the entire time.

Janine remarked with a scornful scoff, “If | had known that she’d be so ungrateful, I'd never have rescued her from thecountryside!”

As if her getting Shannon thrown into jail was not bad enough, she now dared to separate herself from them entirely!Janine was incensed!

Jake roared. “If it was me, I'd have slapped her right

across the face in front of everyone, show everyone exactly what she’s made of!”

Janine snorted. “I'd stain my hands if | do something like that.”

“Stop it!” Matthew, who had been silent the entire time, finally spoke up.

Both Janine and Jake immediately zipped their lips though they both still had a lot to say.Jake asked, “Do you think that we were in the wrong?”

Matthew was just as enraged as them and wanted to slap Sherry just as much. However, circumstances were different now as Sherry had changed as well.

Did these two have any idea what the Sagers were made of?

A historical royal family that had existed for more than two centuries. Despite their minor setbacks, they had been thriving in thepast two years, regaining their prestige and more. Right now, the collective wealth of their family was ranked among the top threein the country.

Not only did Sherry share a close relationship with Young Master Sager himself, rumors even had it that she was the one whowas responsible for the family’s glorious comeback!

The full extent of her capabilities was unimaginable. He never expected that his daughter who he had always hated with a passion would be blessed with such talents. When he recalled how he and Janine had treated her...

Astout look came upon his face as he sighed. “She doesn’t want to acknowledge us because we haven't cared about her allthese years.”

Jake’s eyes flickered, he struggled for words and stammered, “Still, she’s your daughter! Besides, if you two hadn’t brought herinto the city, away from the backward country life, would she be where she is today?”

Janine seemed to agree with this rhetoric. “That’s right, if we hadn’t brought her back from the countryside and cared for her, showed her the world, she’d never have become President Sherry we know today!”

Matthew raised a sharp point. “All we did was care for her for a handful of years.”

Janine retorted, “It still counts for something! The best education money can get you, she’d never have done it without us givingher a step up!”

Jake echoed, “Exactly! You were the ones who gave birth to her! It’s one thing if she’s not grateful for what you've done for her,but she doesn’t even try to acknowledge your existence. She’s a heartless wench!”

Matthew frowned and stayed silent.Jake said, “Here’s what | think, you two should go to her and tell her to pull some strings, help you two form a connection with

the Sagers. I’m sure she knows a lot of people. With her help, I’m sure the status of your family will be greatly boosted and yourwealth will grow exponentially before you know it.”

Matthew seemed intrigued by the idea, but his confidence was deflated when he recalled the way Sherry had received themtoday.

Janine agreed. “I'll go to see her in a few days. If she still refuses to acknowledge me as her mother, she'll get it from me!”Julie drove back to the house by herself.

Her mind was filled with the events that transpired

tonight. She went to Madam Stockton’s yard.

Madam Stockton and Queenie were digging up soil with Caprice in the yard.

The child was not interested in remote racing cars and had a preference for the toy excavators instead.

She was messing around with a model excavator, shoveling soil out of the ground in a very practiced fashion.

Madam Stockton was showering her with praises.

Queenie was applauding her endlessly as well.

As Julie beheld the scene, a flash of disgust appeared in her eyes.
