He carefully and gently carried Caprice from Sherry’s arms.

Sherry was confused by his gentle movements. Was it to prevent waking her up?

As the question lingered in her mind, his scent came closer again and his strong arms wrapped around her.Soon, Sherry was carried out of the car.

The chilly wind was unforgiving outside the car, but the man’s strong arms and

broad shoulders shielded her from the cold.

Her heart raced. She never thought the man would carry her out of the car. Given his temper and character, should he not wakeher up inside the car?

What was with the kindness? The question caused her annoyance and anxiety.She hoped he did not hear her pounding heart.

Awhile later, the surroundings got warmer. She was carried into the living room, and she even heard John speaking to AuntWanda.

“Aunt Wanda, please take Caprice back to her own room.”“Alright,” Aunt Wanda answered.

Sherry was more baffled than before.

What did he mean? Was he not putting her together with Caprice?Then, John opened the door with a low kick.

Sherry heard the wind chimes that Caprice hung in her room. John had carried her into her own room. She was laid on the bed,and her eyes remained closed.

Then, the man sat beside her and looked at her with a bewitching smile. He reached out to her face and stroked her cheekgently.

Sherry was stunned.

Why did he start touching her face? And why did his fingers move toward her lips?Then, he chuckled.

“Sherry, are you going to wake up now? Or do you want me to give you a kiss?” he said.

Sherry froze. She opened her eyes immediately and saw his deep and enchanting gaze staring through her soul. She bolted upand looked at him with a hint of guilt on her face. “How did you know | was faking it?”

“It's obvious.”

“Since when did you replace out?”

“The moment you closed your eyes in the car.”

Sherry rolled her eyes. “Then, why did you carry me out of the car and even take me into my room?”John grinned. “I believe you enjoyed being carried, and there was no resistance at all.”

Sherry choked. The man was as sly as a fox!

“|... | was just faking it! | didn’t want to let you know that | was pretending to sleep!”“Why not?” He moved his handsome face closer to her.

Sherry’s eyes flickered nervously.

As though he was afraid that she might flee, he caught her by the back of her neck.

Sherry was forced to lock eyes with him. She guiltily said, “I was just trying to prank you. | don’t want you to replace out that | waspretending.”

He chuckled. “I think you want me to carry you.”

Sherry blushed. She grumbled out of annoyance, “You bastard, since when were you a narcissist? What made you think likethat?”

“Well, since when are you such a coward? What made you deny the fact that you want me to carry you?”“I did not!”

John chuckled. He stood up. He did not want to bicker with her, so he walked towards the door.

Sherry frowned.

Just before he walked out, he paused and turned around. “I told the maids to set the grill up in the front yard. Go help if you wantto eat.”
