Chapter 1764

Chapter 1764

Caprice stopped running immediately. She looked up at her father and asked in a worried tone,” Daddy, how did you catch acold?”

Sherry looked away and turned a deaf ear.

John glanced at her and then said to Caprice, “Maybe because | got wet in the rain last night.” He added, “Don’t worry, Caprice.I've taken medicine. I'll be healthy in no time.”

Caprice hummed a reply. She waddled forth to her father, crawled up to his arms, and touched his forehead with her warm littlehands. “Caprice gives you warmth.”

John smiled. “Thank you, Caprice.”“You are welcome, Daddy.”

Irritated, Sherry pursed her lips. She pulled her phone out and located the breakfast shop that John had ordered from yesterday. She ordered extra soup after getting the mains, and since she did not want him to think that she got the soup just for him, shegot three bowls of the same soup.

The day went by in the blink of an eye.

Sherry got caught up in work and came back an hour later than usual.

John and Caprice were already waiting for her with a table of freshly bought ingredients.Sherry looked at the receipt.

7,000.

She thought the man would spend 10,000 on ingredients again, but the lesser amount calmed her down. She transferred him7,100 in total.

After dinner, Sherry played with Caprice for a while while John read a book by their side. When Caprice started to doze off, John got up and said to Sherry, “You guys should go rest now. I'll go back now.”Sherry had a glance outside the window. It was gloomy, but it was not raining.

Right before she could say a word, Caprice, who should be dozing off, widened her eyes and grumbled, “Daddy caught a cold.Don't go. It’s windy outside.”

Sherry had no idea how Caprice knew that when one had a cold, one should stay out of cold weather. She said to the girl,“Daddy is a big man now. A little wind is fine-”

“A-choo!” John sneezed before Sherry could finish, leaving her speechless. He pursed his lips, looking innocent.Caprice hugged Sherry’s neck and said, “Daddy is sick. Don’t let him go back, Mommy.”

The girl did not only plead on behalf of her father, but her eyes were even tearing up. If John stepped out of the door, the girlwould probably burst into tears.

Sherry did not want Caprice to cry. Since it was cold outside, it would be terrible if John’s condition worsened.“Okay. Okay. Mommy won't make him go,” Sherry said reluctantly.

Caprice happily nuzzled against her cheek.

Sherry stroked the girl’s head and said to John, “You can stay tonight.”

John smiled. “Okay.”

Sherry carried Caprice into the room before she brought dry pillows and blankets out to the couch.

John said, “Thank you.”

She ignored him and went into the room.

To Sherry’s surprise, John’s cold worsened instead of getting better, so she had to let him stay for a couple of days.

When his condition got better, Caprice could no longer bear being separated from her father. As soon as he said he wanted toleave, the girl’s eyes would tear up and it would break Sherry’s heart.

Sherry could not help but let John stay. She even set up a folding bed for John in the living room.Sherry and Caprice slept in the bedroom while John took the living room.

The next day, Sherry woke up half an hour earlier than usual.
