Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1296
Brielle stared down at the elevator floor, pressing the close button with a determined finger. The elevator started its slow descent, holding just the two of them in its confined space. Brielle was so furious her fingertips were trembling. As soon as the elevator doors opened, she stormed towards her car, eager to get home now that the workday was over. Earlier, she and King had arrived together in the same car. Now, she quickly got in and, without waiting for King, locked the doors from the inside.
King, left standing outside, gave a forlorn look and tapped on the window, hoping she'd reconsider.
But Brielle didn't even glance his way. She stepped on the gas, and the car peeled away from him.
King was left standing alone in the vast expanse of the underground parking lot, too stubborn to leave, convinced that Brielle wouldn't actually leave him behind. However, Brielle was serious this time. She floored it all the way back to her place.
Back home, Isaac was playing with Noir, their dog. Noticing Brielle's solo return, he asked with a puzzled look, "Where's Daddy?"
Brielle stiffened. Now that her anger had cooled off, regret began to seep in. She sank into the couch, her eyelashes casting shadows on her cheeks.
Isaac could only guess that a fight had happened. He fiddled with Noir's ear before approaching Brielle.
"Brielle, don't be mad," he said, opening his palm to reveal a small candy.
Brielle was taken aback, her heart melting at the gesture. She quickly unwrapped the candy and popped it into her mouth.
"Thanks, buddy. I feel a lot better now," she said, her mood visibly lifted.
Isaac wanted to suggest bringing Daddy back, but the words got lost in his throat when he met Brielle's gaze.
What if Daddy was the one at fault?
Unable to resist, Brielle pulled him into a hug. "Buddy, I wonder who your mom is, to have such an adorable kid. Don't worry, if King took you in, we'll treat you like our very own."
Isaac thought maybe letting Daddy cool off outside for a while wasn't such a bad idea.
Feeling slightly awkward in her embrace, he nonetheless stayed put, not pulling away.
After a moment, Brielle released him. "What do you want for dinner? I'll cook."
Isaac was surprised; he didn't know she could cook. Daddy probably hadn't had a homemade meal in a while.
He managed a small smile.
King waited in the parking lot for two hours, becoming increasingly chilled, but Brielle never returned. She'd really left him?
Disheartened, he made his way out of the parking lot. The sight of the dark sky mirrored his mood perfectly.
He began to wonder if his eagerness had pushed Brielle away, making her take his presence for granted.
But how would he know that Brielle's fear of losing him was the cause of her actions?
He thought he was too enthusiastic,
making her feel like he couldn't without her, which is why she,

seemed so cold towards him now.
She wasn't like this with Max.
Jealousy over Max gnawed at him!
Fine, he decided, he wouldn't return home tonight. That would show her.
Just then, a message from Isaac popped up on his phone.
Daddy, Brielle said she's cooking dinner tonight.
King paused, his resolve faltering.
Maybe teaching her a lesson could.
