Chapter Eleven

Aria POV

It's the day before my birthday and to say I'm nervous is anunderstatement, the guys have been super supportive and have tried tokeep my mind from wondering if I'll get my dragon or not.

I lay on my bed staring up at the ceiling in my room my mindwondering about the dream I've been having since I left Azira the onewith Dragus and Darian each time its the same thing and that voice inthe wind saying the same thing "MATES" I wonder if it's true I mean Iwouldn't mind any girl would be lucky to have either of the twins as amate but there's little old me that may have both of them.

I'm startled from my thoughts when a knock at my door pulls me awayfrom my wandering mind, I lift myself from the bed and pad my wayover to the door of my room I swing the door open and replace Landonand Duncan standing in the hall both smiling at me as I stand theretaking them in I cock my head to the side and raise an eyebrow at thepair wondering what there doing.

"Erm... it's your birthday and we wondered if you had any plans for it?"Duncan says beaming me that million-dollar smile I'm sure he flashesall the girls.

"Nothing I haven't even thought about, to be honest," I say turning towalk back into my room leaving the door open as an invitation to theboys to follow me in which they do without a second thought. I flopdown on the bed when I hear Duncan let out a sigh before floppingdown on the bed next to me with his arm propping up his head."Come on Ari, you have to do something it's your eighteenth you cantjust stay in your room”

"I have to agree with Dunk on this one Ari your regret it later if youchoose to stay in," Landon says coming to sit next to me on the bed,sometimes I wonder how I managed to replace such great friends when mylife has been a series of bad thing after bad thing happening to me. Iglance between the two before I resign with a sigh.

"Ok, what do you have in mind?"

Duncan rolls off the bed and jumps to his feet clapping his handstogether while smirking at me, I look at Landon and he just shakes hishead while chuckling at Duncan.

"Well first we're gonna have some pre-drinks at the house and then wemake our way to Tanza and party the night away were make sure it's abirthday you won't forget Ari!"

I chuckle at his enthusiasm and can't help the smile that spreads acrossmy face these are the moments I envisioned my life being like planningon going out with my friends having fun just normal stuff, Duncanrambles on about what alcohol he needs to buy while Landon agreeswith his choices I'm brought back to my thoughts as Landon lays hishand on my shoulder I look up to him and smile at him just feeling thelove from these guys is what any girl could ask for in friends.

"Alright alright, you win I need to get an outfit for tomorrow so Isuppose I can rope Dana into coming shopping with me” we all turn asthe door to my room swings open and Dana strolls in with a dress bagslung over her shoulder and a box under her arm.

"Too late for that girlfriend I've already sorted the outfit and shoesbecause you know I'm great like that" I can't help but shake my head ather as I chuckle this girl is like a godsend to me sometimes I don't knowwhat I'd do without her.

"I also have another surprise for you that should be arriving in about 30minutes,” she says as she looks at her wristwatch my brows furrow as Ilook at her trying to work out what the surprise could be but trying toread Dana is like looking at a stone you get nothing I suppose shewould be great a poker I resign to just waiting to replace out.

Dana hangs the dress up and puts the box down in front of my dresser"Do not open it until tomorrow" she warns me looking at me dead inmy eye this girl can be scary at times I put my hands up in surrender asshe smiles at me.

"Why don't we go and watch a movie and chill out in the entertainmentroom?" Landon asks as he gazes at us all.

"Yeah that sounds good actually but I'm choosing the film this time!” Isay as I run out of the room before their even off the bed and I hearthem scramble around behind me trying to beat me to theentertainment room I take the stairs 2 at a time as I rush down themand skid across the entrance hall floor, as I look up I see Landon andDuncan at the top of the stairs before Dana bowls right threw them andknocking both of them sideways, I run down and the hall and burstthrew the door and throw myself over the sofa as I grab the remote theguys crash threw the doors a few seconds later after Dana I can heartheir groans as I hold up the remote above my head laughing at them."I win my choice tonight!" I pant out realising how out of breath I am."Strength in numbers lads" Dana laughs as she plops down on the sofanext to me.

"wait what you were working together?" Duncan asks and the look onhis face is priceless as the lightbulb flicks on in his head, both Dana andI look at each other before bursting out laughing at the confused facesof Duncan and Landon. Dana wipes the tears from her eyes before shegets any words out.

"well duh girls have a sisterhood against the male species its unwrittenand every woman in the world knows about it solidarity and all that"

I wipe the tears from my eyes laughing as I hear the doorbell go, Danaturns and looks at me and a massive grin spreads across her face fromear to ear she kinda reminds me of that weird cat in a movie I saw onNetflix bit creepy.

"I'l get it" Dana launches herself over the back of the sofa and headsout of the entertainment room and down the hall to the front door Ihear hushed voices but I can't make out who she's talking to I look toDuncan and Landon and they just shrug before turning to the screen ofthe tv.

A few seconds later the door to the entertainment room opens andDana walks in shouting surprise, as she steps to the side I see my bestfriend standing in the doorway. I don't say anything as I gape at Arielsearching her face as she smiles back at me I don't know who movesfirst but we crash into each other in a blubbering mess I turn to Danaand tell her to thank you before I squeeze the life out of Ariel.

"How did you know where I was, what are you doing here?" I rush outas she chuckles at me.

"Your friend Dana over there messaged me and thought you could dowith a familiar face being your eighteenth and all” I've missed my bestfriend and I can't believe she's here. The room drops into silence asAriel goes rigid and her nose flares.

"Ariel are you ok?" I look into her eyes as she turns and looks behindme where I see Duncan standing just as stiff as she is, it's like timestands still as I hear them both say "MATE" before they run into eachother I all but throw myself out the way trying to not get bowled downby Ariel.

Me Dana and Landon all look at each other before looking back atDuncan and Ariel as Duncan wraps his arms around her waist andburies his head into her hair Ariel wrapping her hands around his neckand holding on to him as she lays her head in his chest.

I look at them and a pang of jealousy runs through me at the sight ofthem as I wonder what it would be like to have a mate and if theywould look at me the way Duncan looks at Ariel, I suppress thatemotion as quickly as it appears as all I want is to be happy for the bothof them I think Ariel will be a good influence on Duncan and maybe hecan help her to lighten up a little.

"Alright then.....Movie anyone?" Landon says as me and Dana plonkdown on either side of him, Duncan and Ariel curl up on the oppositesofa together as we decide to watch the new Avengers film the guysgroan but I know they secretly enjoy it.

I don't know when my eyes start to close but I replace myself drifting off tothe darkness as sleep takes hold of me.

I'm back in my dream in the clearing with Darian and Dragus the samedream I've been having for the last two weeks this time though it seemsdifferent I hear the same voice that says "MATES" but this time itsounds louder and clearer as if the person the voice belongs to isstanding beside me. I cast my gaze across the clearing looking for asource of the voice when I see two emerald eyes staring at me from theshadows hidden by the trees. The eyes that stare back at me remind meof my own eyes and we lock eyes with each other before I replace myselfasking the eyes a question.

"Who...who are you?" my voice breaking as I ask the question, the eyesdon't reply right away and I wonder if they are ever going to answerwhen I hear the melodic voice.

"Not yet little one but very soon I will reveal myself to you" before I canask anything else the emerald eyes disappear and I'm thrown back intomy body, I wake up with a jolt and realise that I'm back in theentertainment room passed out with my head laying on Landon'sshoulder his soft snores filling the room I turn to see Dana laying acrossmy lap with her hair stuck all over her face, I wiggle my way out frombetween them and climb over the back of the sofa and make my wayup to my room I can hear noises coming from Duncan's room and Ialready know what those two are up to and I don't want to hear mybest friend fucking her mate so I continue on my journey up the stairsto my room. I walk in and close the door before I make my way over tomy bed and slid under the covers I stare at the ceiling "it's my birthdaytomorrow let's see what happens...
