Selena rolled her eyes internally. Seriously, did he really not get whether she wanted to see him or not? Did he have to ask every time? But today was meant to be a day of joy and happy reunions, filled with beautiful memories. She wasn't about to let some guy ruin it.

"No."

She replied coolly, giving him a gentle nudge. "Let go of me, I've got dough to work on."

Everett chuckled, leaning down to nibble at her lip, seeing right through her. "You say one thing but mean another."

Yet, he seemed in a good mood and didn't get mad. Instead of letting her go, he wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Keep kneading," he said lazily. Selena sighed, "You're in the way!"

Especially with Ava watching. What was he trying to prove?

Everett ignored her, even nudging her along. "If you don't hurry, we'll miss dinner. Oh, and I like my crust a bit thicker!"

Selena gritted her teeth in frustration.

Three years of marriage, and she hadn't figured out what kind of man her husband truly was. But these last few months had made things crystal clear.

Everett was worse than any scoundrel!

Despite his polished and noble appearance, he was just a rogue at heart!

If only she had seen it sooner.

Trying to ignore the warm presence behind her, Selena focused on kneading the dough, then rolling out the pie crust.

This homey scene, so full of warmth, strangely stirred something in Everett.

The words "peaceful times" seemed to echo in his mind.

He rarely experienced these family gatherings during holidays. His father was always abroad, and his mother, Carolina, disliked such. festivities and was always cold' towards him, making him indifferent to holidays.

To him, these days were like any other, their cheeriness only highlighting his own loneliness.

Over time, he developed a resistance to them.

As he grew up, Josh would invite him to the family home for holidays, but his childhood views were deeply rooted; he didn't long for these celebrations anymore.

So, he spent most holidays buried in work and social obligations.

Returning home this year was out of the ordinary, more out of habit than desire.

But now, seeing Selena and the scene before him, he felt glad to be back.

Despite Everett being there, Selena skillfully prepared the pie crust, while Ava mixed the meat filling, bringing it over for the pie.

Everett, who hardly ever set foot in a kitchen, let alone made a pie, found himself intrigued by Selena's adept hands crafting a perfectly shaped, plump pie.

Touching the dimple on her cheek, he said softly, "Mrs. Bennett, this looks fun. Maybe you could show me how it's done."

Ava was taken aback, "Sir, you want to try it yourself?"

Having watched Everett grow up, Ava knew him as someone who never did hands-on work.

"Yeah." Everett's dark eyes stayed on Selena.

If she could help it, Selena didn't want any interaction with him. She pursed her lips, thinking of how to turn him down. That's when Ava stepped in, "Sir, if you'd like to learn, I'd be happy to teach you."
