"It's all good, pregnant women go through this all the time. No need to fuss."

Not wanting Everett to suspect anything was wrong, Selena swiftly switched gears, "Hey, remember when Grandfather mentioned we should start thinking of a name for the baby? Got any ideas?"

Just like that, Everett's focus shifted. He pulled Selena closer with a slight smile playing on his lips, "Well, Mrs. Bennett, what's your take?"

"Me?" Selena blinked in surprise.

In high society, naming the next generation is a big deal, especially in a top-tier family like the Bennetts. Typically, it would be Josh or the current head of the family, the father, making the call. It wasn't her place. Sensing her hesitation, Everett rested his chin on her shoulder, lazily inhaling her scent. His voice was soft and smooth, "I don't care about those old-school rules. If you have a name in mind, go ahead and choose it." Everett's words struck a chord in Selena's heart.

Since marrying into the Bennett family, she never felt fully accepted. They often looked down on her, never offering a shred of respect.

But Everett, at least, treated her with dignity as his wife.

Warmth spread through Selena's chest. She took a moment to think, then gently took Everett's hand, tracing a name in his palm. "Mateo?"

He tilted his head, his thin lips curling into a smile as he said the name, his voice deep and magnetic.

Selena nodded lightly, "The Bennett next-gen is supposed to have names starting with 'M'. Mateo, what do you think?"

"Mateo."

Everett repeated the name softly, feeling an odd warmth in his heart. He gently pinched her chin and rewarded her with a kiss. "Alright, Mateo it is."

Time flew by, and before they knew it, half a month had passed without any strange behavior from Everett.

Just as Selena was starting to think she'd been overthinking things, she felt herself nodding off that night. As she dozed, Everett gently slipped away from her embrace and stood up

Selena snapped awake, her drowsiness gone. She held her breath as she listened to Everett take a brief phone call outside, then return to change his clothes and head out, all in about ten minutes.

She wasted no time, afraid she'd lose him. She quickly threw on a loose coat, grabbed her phone, and headed out.

Thanks to some pre-planning, a taxi was already waiting for her. She hopped in and told the driver, "Follow that car, but keep your distance. Don't let him notice." "You got it!"

The driver, who had been on standby for nearly a month, was thrilled to finally have some action, especially a juicy tale of a high-society wife catching her husband in the act. He hit the gas, and they sped off.

About forty minutes later, Everett's car pulled into an underground garage at a high-end medical clinic. He parked and headed straight for the elevator.

Once he disappeared into the elevator, Selena got out of the taxi. She told the driver to wait for her, then hurried to see which floor the elevator stopped at.

The numbers on the elevator display ticked up one by one until they landed on the twelfth floor.

The twelfth floor was for VVIP patients.

Staring at the number, Selena turned pale.

The truth was now glaringly obvious.

Just as she had feared, nothing was unexpected.

She stood frozen for a few

moments, torn between wanting to confirm her suspicions quickly or still holding onto a tiny bit of hope. She didn't leave but instead pressed the elevator button. Ebookex
