Chapter 451

“There’s no need to be overly concerned about the Lenoir family’s matters. As

long as you and Ms. Mackenzie are fine, no one will dare to harm you.

Moreover, the Quillen family will ensure you have a promising job opportunity

arranged for you!” Alfred intended to soothe Emmanuel’s anxiety, as he

understood that offending the Lenoir family in Yeringham was something

only a few dared to face.

Unexpectedly, Emmanuel was momentarily taken aback and responded

firmly, “I’m sorry, but it appears there has been a misunderstanding!”

“Huh?” Alfred was slightly taken aback.

Emmanuel responded earnestly, “Boing with Mackenzie has no connection to

the status of the Quillen family in Yeringham. I’ve never considered relying on

her or her family for my livelihood. My feelings for her are genuine, and that’s the reason I want to be with her.

That’s all there is to it!”

“Uhl” Alfred was utterly taken aback, realizing that his previous remarks had come across cis somewhat insulting

toward Emmanuel. Like many others, he

had succumbed to a common cognitive bias, assuming Emmanuel was

using his relationship with Mackenzie to advance himself and benefit from

her wealth.

With Emmanuel earnestly refuting him, he offered an apologetic smile. “Mr.

Lowe, I sincerely apologize!”

Surprised by his apology, Emmanuel nodded graciously and exited the car

upon reaching the Yociam Residence.

“Emmanuel, you don’t have to pick Ms. Mackenzie up today. She’ll be escorted

home,” Alfred told him.

He glanced back, displeased with the constant interference and obstacles in his relationship with Mackenzie.

“Mister, I’ll handle the matter with Mackenzie myself. How we handle things should be our discussion. What do you

think?”

Alfred was momentarily stunned by his response but quickly smiled and

nodded. “I understand.”

As the car departed from the residence, Alfred muttered to himself, “Now I

Connected

understand why Old Mr. Quillen favors this young man and why Ms.

Mackenzie was drawn to him!”

In Emmanuel, Alfred saw authenticity, which was the most beautiful thing in

the world. Perhaps he and Ms. Mackenzie are together, not because he

covets her wealth and family status, he figured.

Emmanuel promptly contacted Mackenzie, who insisted on him picking her

up by car.

After retrieving his car, he headed to the Terence Group headquarters and found her waiting at their usual spot. At

that moment, he felt a deep sense of comfort, setting aside the troubles with the Lenoir family and experiencing a

brief surge of happiness in his heart.

“Emmanuel, hurry up and get some groceries. Mom is coming over for dinner

tonight.” She hopped into the passenger seat and briskly instructed him, her demeanor showing a sense of urgency.

“Okay!” He swiftly drove to the market while she diligently worked on her

laptop from the passenger seat.

“Mackenzie, wait in the car. I’ll head off to get some groceries.” Reaching the

market, Emmanuel parked the car and prepared to go grocery shopping

alone.

Looking up from her laptop, Mackenzie noticed the bustling market and

called Emmanuel, “Wait, let’s go grocery shopping together!”

He froze in surprise and looked back, almost unable to believe it. Does she

want to go to the market with me?

“No, how can you set foot in such a place?” After realizing it, he promptly

declined.
