Mommy for Billionaire's Baby -
Chapter 30
Tasya took a deep breath. The meeting with the legal team that would handle the case between Optima and Faldom this time was much more headache-inducing for her. The legal team that Nathan hired had requested a lot of documents. They used all of it as their foundation to sue one party: Farhan.
However, Tasya wasn't free to move around. Nathan had cautioned her to be careful when gathering all the necessary documents. Fortunately, her access to jump from one division to another made it easy to request the documents she still needed.
"What do you want for lunch?" Nathan asked as he stretched his muscles. He was very satisfied with the results and demands he had conveyed to the legal team. They had been prompt and efficient, especially regarding the compensation that Faldom wanted.
He acted as the head of Faldom, which had been painstakingly built by Noah Sinclair and Jannet Sinclair. Unfortunately, when Nathan took over, the fraud occurred. Nathan wouldn't allow Farhan's games to erode Faldom for too long. When he remembered the estimated numbers and the losses, which Farhan cleverly concealed, it made Nathan even more furious.
That's why it wasn't just one lawyer but a team of four people to ensnare and demand accountability from the person responsible for all of this.
"I don't know." Despite being tired, having a headache, and feeling drained from the long, highly concentrated discussions, Nathan had to deal with the issue of lunch right away. "How about chicken barbecue?"
"What about curry soup, Tasya?" Nathan shifted in his seat, looking closely at Tasya because his assistant was right beside him. "Your hair has gotten longer, Tasya." He wanted to touch her hair casually, but his hand felt incredibly heavy. It was as if something was restraining him and warning him, "Don't touch casually!"
"Yeah. I haven't had time to cut it."
"How about later this afternoon? I'll accompany you."
Tasya smiled as she took off her glasses, blinking several times to maintain her focus. Her hands quickly grabbed a cleaning cloth from the storage box. Her glasses needed to be clean so she could clearly observe her surroundings. "Do you want to eat curry soup at a restaurant or order online?"
"Do you want to go out?" Nathan leaned back comfortably, his eyes still fixed on the figure now engrossed with her phone. Nathan didn't really care about what Tasya was doing. What mattered was that Tasya didn't move away suddenly or come up with excuses to leave.
"I'm tired, to be honest."
"That's better. If you're tired, just say so. Don't pretend to be strong. Don't always go along with what I want, Tasya."
Tasya laughed. "If I don't go along with you, you get all unclear. Sulking and all that." Tasya's tone changed when Nathan initiated the conversation, especially when she heard her name called. Tasya. It sounded very special to her. In her life, there had never been a man allowed to call her by her diminutive name. Even the nickname "Tasya" came from Nathan.
"It's like trying to fish words out of you." Nathan straightened his back again. "I'll place the order. You organize the documents."
Tasya smiled faintly, nodded, and quickly did what Nathan asked. After all, these scattered documents must not be known to anyone else. It could be dangerous and could also become a boomerang for Nathan and herself.
A knock on Nathan's office door made Tasya jump in surprise.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Nathan."
Farhan. He walked in with confidence.
This prompted Tasya to tidy up her documents a bit quicker.
"It seems there's a meeting?" Farhan said.
Nathan grinned slightly. "Please, have a seat, Mr. Farhan."
In the hierarchy at Faldom, Farhan's name was among the top executives who carried considerable weight. His voice also influenced many decisions that Nathan would make, but Nathan tended to trust his intuition more than the objections Farhan often raised.
After all, those objections only benefited one party while Nathan felt a lot of pressure regarding the dividends that should have met the target.
"Mr. Nathan seems busy," Farhan remarked with a thin smile. His portly body had a bit of trouble replaceing a comfortable spot to sit, and he looked at Tasya with a rather bold gaze. "Mr. Nathan, don't you have any plans to replace your assistant?"
"Why should I replace her?" Nathan responded casually. He also handed over his phone, which he had tinkered with earlier to place an order for lunch according to his wishes. "Keep monitoring the orders, will you?"
"Of course, Mr. Nathan." Tasya then stepped out of Nathan's office. What was the point of staying in a room where she was viewed with disdain? She knew that Farhan had never been particularly fond of her. But why did one of the commissioners underestimate her?
Even though what she did wasn't trivial. She was always focused, and her work had greatly helped Nathan in completing his tasks. If she could complain, was she Nathan's assistant in a general or personal sense? She still had to take care of what she considered personal matters!
Naina? Wasn't that something personal Nathan had?
But did Tasya complain about it? Never. In fact, she was more than happy to accompany Naina whenever needed. There was a sense of satisfaction knowing how the girl had grown up.
Farhan, with his nearly drowned eyes due to his plump face, observed until Nathan's assistant had truly left. He closed the CEO's office door firmly, a position entrusted to him by the legitimate owner.
I don't know if I could sit or if I'd disappear because he was devouring me without my knowledge." The chubby man chuckled, causing his belly to jiggle a bit. Nathan had been staring at him intensely since earlier, especially at his recent statement. What did he say? Replace the assistant? Was he crazy?
"Oh, I forgot. I mean, Mr. Nathan, you don't want to replace your assistant with someone more competent? Someone who can accompany you too much fancier office events out there?"
"Are you talking about appearance?" Nathan straightened his back. He had originally wanted to relax for a moment while waiting for his lunch to arrive. Engaging in a more relaxed conversation with Tasya, you could consider it a subtle approach.
After all, they were one level above usual, right?
"Well, Mr. Nathan, you know yourself, right? An assistant is also the face of their boss. If they're pretty, smart, and can multitask, why not?"
Nathan grinned slightly. He rubbed his hands together as if in deep thought, but his gaze, which he used to stare at his interlocutor, was cold and intimidating. Perhaps Farhan had realized by now that Nathan's gaze didn't match his casual words. He shifted his seat slightly but hesitated to ask further.
"I know someone. I also understand how Mr. Nathan is outside." To dispel his nervousness, he laughed, quite loudly, but unfortunately, Nathan didn't respond to anything except to continue giving him a piercing stare, which made Farhan increasingly uncomfortable.
"I'm just expressing my opinion, Mr. Nathan. Don't take offense."
Nathan chuckled softly. "My actions outside are not Mr. Farhan's concern. As long as I don't touch Mr. Farhan's daughter, it shouldn't be a concern, right?"
Farhan's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. His slightly darkened mouth, due to his smoking habit, seemed to want to speak but couldn't. However, his heart suddenly became furious and extremely irritated. What was the connection between the women around Nathan and his daughter? How disrespectful it was for Nathan to equate his daughter with the women he could sleep with?
Damn it!
"Well, I'm just talking. I haven't done anything. Relax. Rika isn't on the list of women I've slept with. Besides," Nathan moved closer to the chubby man, "I'm not interested in changing assistants. They might not be able to keep up with my quirks." Farhan's eyes widened even more.
"Your daughter is scared of my habits. How would a woman who slept with you feel? Oh...maybe she'd even get infatuated with me? Instead of working, she'd just mess up my workspace all the time? And then I'd be controlled however she pleased?"
