Debby had to leave work early to a shopping mall to get a dress for the impromptu celebration dinner. She has to look her best since many wealthy people of the city will be in attendance. However, she couldn't afford to buy the ones she really wish she can wear. She eventually gave up on ever replaceing a suitable dress. She had never attended a luxurious dinner before and at such, her dresses at homs couldn't obviously fit the category of the creme de la creme status for the evening. She eventually decided to buy a corporate black suit that is neither too expensive nor cheap.

Sarah would go to pick up Fred from school and it's the maid's job to ensure that Fred is taken good care of. She called her over and told her she may arrive late at night as she will be attending a dinner this evening that may last for a couple of hours. Sarah noted what she said and then, Debby dismissed her. While dressing up, she heard a knock at the door.

Thinking it was Sarah who probably suddenly, remembered she had something to tell her, she walked up to the door and opened it but unexpectedly saw an almost seven feet tall and heavily built man, standing by the door with a box in his hands. "Good day miss, Mr. Harry Vernon asked that you have this for your dinner event." His voice was thick and hoarse. She squeezed her face in shock, she took the box from the man slowly, "One more thing ma'am, Mr. Harry Vernon also instructed that I should drive you to the event, I'll be waiting for you outside, ma." Debby nodded and closed the door.

She placed the box on the table carefully and began to rip it to pieces, wondering what could be inside the box. Why would Harry Vernon send her a box and suddenly instructed one of his men to drive her over?

Her phone chirped all of a sudden and she picked it up at once, seeing that it was a message from an unknown number, she clicked and it reads, 'Congratulations on your new appointment, don't be deceived to think Harry Vernon likes you, he has an ulterior motive for promoting you. Anyways, I'll be at the dinner event too, see you... Arthur.

This jerk' Debby cursed underneath her breath in anger and dropped her phone back to the bed

Setting her gaze back on the half ripped box, she eventually unraveled it and gasped on seeing the very luxurious attire that Harry had given to her to wear for the dinner. The gown was made of several carat of pear-shaped diamond at the body, which was also topped off with a train sparkling with diamonds.

Debbys eyes almost pop off and she pinched herself quickly to be sure that this wasnt a dream.

Debby needed no soothsayer to tell her that the dress must have caused Harry a fortune, leaving her to wonder why he had gone all out to splash an outrageous amount of money on someone he clearly hates or was he really up to something as Arthur claimed? She can't and don't want to believe Arthur anymore, his words are full of lies.

After dressing up in the gown, Debby stared at herself in the mirror and was amazed by the person reflecting through the lenses. The gown hunged to her body perfectly, revealing her perfect figure, she applied a slight make up on and wore the shoe that came with the dress then stepped out of the room adorably.

When Debby arrived outside, she was stunned to see the man that was to driver her stand before a Rolls Royce, "please, ma." The man opened the door and gestured for her to walk in.

But Debby hated being the centre of attention. Debby was aware that if she arrived with these glamours at the event hall, everyone would raise questions as to her how someone that was just newly promoted could afford such an expensive cad. The last thing she wanted was being a subject of rumors and gossips.

Debby entered nonetheless then when the car was almost arriving at the location, she spoke, "I would like to stop here." Debby said to the driver.

"Mr. Harry Vernon ordered for you to be taken to the event hall." The driver replied.

"Look, I appreciate the fact that you are obeying your boss's orders, but I would wish to alright here. I would take a walk to the event centre myself." After much hesitation by the man, he eventually pulled up at the building that was right beside the location of the 'Dinner Celebration' then Debby stepped out of the car. She had seen signs of people coming into the event centre in their massive cars and being a company worker, she didnt want to raise any conspiracy about how she was able to afford an expensive car.

When she arrived at the event hall, everyone who saw her, were amazed by her presence. They all had different things to say about her look and this made Debby extremely nervous.

She checked around to see if Harry was present, and heaved a sigh of relief when there was no sign of him anywhere.

"Can I be the first to say you look astronomically beautiful?" She turned around and a young man, who was all dressed in an Armani suit smiled at her. Debby found the man really attractive that she smiled instinctively.

"Sorry to bump on you like that, my name is Nicholas Smith." He extended his hand for a handshake.

"You can call me Debby." She replied, taking his hands, while they both head over to their tables as the event kept on going.

Although the event was centered around celebrating her appointment, it was also a landmark to network the company to a much wider audience within the city as well.

"So, how does it feel being the new personal assistant to Mr. Harry Vernon?" Debby chuckled lightly at his question.

"Well, it's simply thrilling. Although, I still don't know what to expect." She replied honestly.

"You shouldn't be worried. I mean look at the bright side of it. You would eventually be privileged to work with the CEO, this would earn you a very big reputation." Debby smiled at the man. If only he knew that this CEO was actually her husband. "Ladies and Gentlemen!" Someone suddenly spoke from the podium with a microphone to his mouth, "Can we all use this moment to honour the newest appointee as personal assistant to the CEO!" The master of the ceremony declared. Debby was forced to get to her feet and take a courtesy bow, before eventually going back to take a seat.

"You are absolutely amazing, you know?" Despite being the first time seeing Nicholas, Debby naturally like him. He was simple and was all smiles, he looked like a perfect gentleman. Thank you, Mr. Nicholas:" Debby said and Nicholas smiled

'You can just call me, Nicholas, I don't mind," Nicholas was obviously trying to be friends with her and she wouldn't even mird at all.

"Sure, Nicholas," she smiled

Nicholas got a call from the master of the ceremony, to move to the tables of the elite

"It was nice talking to you..." He stood and brought out his business card then stretched it to Debby, just when she was about receiving it, they both heard a deep deep voice suddenly.

"Scram!" When they both turned around, their eyes met with Harry Vernon. Harry was standing before them with a murderous look in his eyes. His stern look was particularly set on Nicholas. Nicholas was astoundingly shaken with fear, perceiving the aura of dominance around Harry, he quickly moved to his designated seat.

Once Nicholas was gone, Harry turned to stare at Debby for a moment and made his way to sit beside her. Debby on the other hand was paralyzed with fear. Her legs were shaking and the mere sight of Harry was a nightmare to her. Her throat became dry that she could barely replace a trace of saliva in her mouth. Why would this man come to sit before her? She thought to herself.

Other staffs, who sat beside Debby noticed a look of discomfort on her face, but none could approach her to enquire the reason. They were all scared of the Harry Vernon who was seating right beside her. many ladies were particularly jealous of Debby as there eight percent of young female staffs has a crush on Harry Vernon.

"Congratulations on your appointment." Harry's deep voice, once again shook Debby with fear and she nervously smiled.

"Thank you," she replied calmly and reservedly.

"I wouldn't like a coward being my personal assistant, so I hope you try and be more courageous before me." Debby knew he was indirectly referring to her reaction around him.

But she couldn't help it. Harry was a monster and mere sight of him, brought many powerful men to their feet.

While the event went on, Debby could hear whispers of her name in the mouth of some of her colleague and they were simply talking about her dress, and also about Harry who had a conversation with her.

Some said Harry probably liked Debby while others argued that a man like Harry can't love any woman

"Thanks for the dress." She managed to say, "Sorry to ask please, uhmm.. dont you think this dress is too expensive, you don't have to bother yourself about me?" She asked in a very low tone, for only Harry to hear. Debby didn't get any answer and when she finally look up, she quickly dropped her gaze down again, seeing the same cold stare set on her

"You are my wife." Harry said making Debby almost choke out. She quickly look around to be sure nobody heard what he said. To her relief, no one was even paying attention.

"But you already hooked up with another man in just a few minutes of arriving here? That buffon speaking to you deserves death for speaking with you." He said coldly.

"I hope he wouldn't get to fuck you as well?" His words hit her like a spear to the chest, making her heart bleed so painfully. Tears welled up quickly in her eyes. Her body could feel the excruciating pain his words caused to her.

Harry gulped the drink before him at once and stood up from the seat then head out of the event hall without saying anymore word to Debby.

Once he was out of sight, Debby stood and rushed to the bathroom and cried.

"He hated me so much!" Debby cried even more, tears rushing down her cheek.

After the dinner party was over, Debby returned back to the mansion, exhausted from the whole activity but particularly sad because if her encounter with Harry. When she was about walking inside, she sighted a strange car parked. She recognized all the cars in Harry's mansion and this one she has never seen it before.

Despite being at Harry's mansion for just few weeks, she was able to tell, which car belonged to Harry and which doesn't. It was obvious there was a guest.

On stepping into the living room, she shockingly saw Harry on the couch, with a lady, whose head was laying comfortably on his chest.

Didn't he want her to respect their marriage? Yet he brought in a woman home? Debby couldn't t wait for this marriage to come an end.

Being in this marriage is like being covered with thorns. She was shocked to the gut when the lady resting on Harry's chest turned around, this lady turned out to be Edna, her sister.
