Debby was going through series of documents, when a call came in.

She checked the phone and realized that it was a strange number.

Debby totally ignored the call and continued her work. While she was almost done with the review of the document, she recieved the call once more from the same number.

Please, whoever is on the line should call back, I am busy at the moment." She picked hastily and was almost dropping the phone, when an urgent voice spoke.

"Miss Debby, we need you to come to Lord Vernon's mansion. His sickeness has alleviated and we have been trying to reach out to Mr.

Harry Vernon, but he isn't picking up. Can you please come to the mansion. Debby became pertubed at once, she hung up and stood up on her feet, anxiety creeping up on her as she thought of going to meet Harry and informing him of the situation. Once she was out of her office, she made her way towards Harry's office, which had the secretary's office before the main office.

"I will like to see the CEO." Debby indicated to the secretary, who had a look of disdain on her face.

"The CEO is not around at the moment." She spoke in a rude manner, which didn't go unnoticed by Debby, but she chose to ignore.

Apparently, the secretary was jealous of the easy access Debby had to the CEO. She admired Harry Vernon and had tried everything within her power to make Harry notice her, but it wasn't working

Debby wasn't bothered about the looks the secretary was giving to her. She was bothered about the fact that Harry was not in the office.

She turned around and left the office, making her way outside the building, where she took a cab and was headed for Harry Vernon's mansion.

Along the road, Debby felt like the driver was not moving fast, it could be because she was in a hurry, "Can you increase the speed of the cab, please? I am in dire need to reach my destination at the moment." She begged the man.

'Sorry ma'am, this is the highest I can go. I don't want no police officer giving me a precautionary warning about my speed limit." The taxi man explained and Debby groaned in frustration. Some paragraphs are incomplete if you are not reading this novel on Ebookex.com. Visit Ebookex.com to read the complete chapters for free. She wished imaginations were true, she would have easily disappeared and reappear in Lord Douglas' mansion.

After a couple of minutes of driving, Debby arrived at the mansion and she hastily stepped out of the car, and was about running towards the gate, when the taxi man drew her attention over to the fact that she had failed to pay him.

Debby fondled with her purse and squeezed out a few dollars note, not minding to get the change then quickly rushed into the mansion.

Before she would step into the mansion fully, she heard her phone buzz through her purse, but she ignored the call and entered the living room.

She caught sight the butler, who was holding tray filled with plates.

The old man was confused, seeing how agitated Debby looked.

"Please where is Lord Vernon?" She asked, looking around the place.

"He is at the backyard." The Butler stated, his mind not fully settled at the sight of an agitated Debby.

"Is he well? Is all okay with him?" Debby asked.

"He is perfectly fine ma'am." The Butler announced, much to Debby's confusion.

"But I received a call not quite long ago, saying that all wasn't well with Lord Vernon." She said, pulling out her phone to show the butler.

"Ma'am, he is fine and is in good condition." The Butler reassured once more.

"Okay, since I am here already, it wouldn't be nice if I leave and not greet him. I will go to the backyard now." She indicated and moved away from the Butler, who stared at her awkwardly...

When she arrived at the backyard, Debby was surprised to see Lord Vernon seated peacefully on his couch at the backyard. He was reading a newspaper and a drink was perfectly laid out on the small table before him. Debby was confused as she wondered who would have made such audacious call, knowing fully well that the man was perfectly fine.

Lord Vernon was about flipping the other side of the paper when he

-noticed a figure standing afar, he dropped the newspaper to realize that it was Debby staring at her.

"My daughter!" He called out to Debby happily even as she made her way towards the man. "I am surprised you came to visit. Hope you are in one peace, my dear?"Lord Vernon was full of smiles.

Debby greeted the man respectfully and Lord Vernon urged her to stand to her feet and take a seat beside him.

"Hope you are good my dear?" He asked, his attention fully focused on her.

There are days were I am totally stressed out, but today, I think i am fine sir." She revealed with a refreshing smile gracing her face.

"How is Fred doing? One of these days, I think you should bring my great grand child to visit me." Lord Vernon said. Debby smiled as she had come to the realization that Lord Douglas loved Fred unconditionally.

*"Icame here because I received a call from an unknown person, saying that you are sick and that you need urgent attention." De bby revealed and Lord Douglas chuckled.

"As you can see my dear, I am in good condition. You have nothing to worry about. While I understand that I am getting old and age is not by my side, I still have the mindset of a youth." Debby smiled at the will that he possessed.

"Maybe someone has played a prank on me." She reasoned. Debby didn't have any friend and thus, she couldn't say it was a friend.

There was certainly an unexplainable answer to her question.

"I think I should be on my way now." Debby stood up, Lord Vernon took out her hands and kissed the back of it.

"I hope my son is treating you well?" Lord Vernon asked.

"Somedays he gets moody, but other days he is good to me." Debby said. "He recently discovered that Broderick Alessandro didn't kill his father." Debby revealed, much to Lord Douglas surprise.

"There are indeed so many sides to a story. I think I need to specially apologize to you for how my grandson treated your family. Everyone of you don't de serve to go through the hell that Harry placed you all in." De bby smiled as she found genuineness in the man's statement.

Lord Douglas was a good man and someone that should be respected by all.

"I totally understand, sir. I would act in the same volition if I was in the same shoe that Harry id." Debby replied and turned to leave.

"Don't forget to bring Fred when you are free and of course tell Harry I said hi." Debby nodded politely and began to walk away. When she stepped into the living room, she met with the butler."

'Have you confirmed he's fine?" He asked as he wiped off his hand with a napkin.

"Yes, Lord Vernon is indeed fine," Debby said. The Butler smiled and when Debby was about to take her leave, there came a sound of an emergency alarm. Both Debby and the Butler looked at themselves for a moment.

"This is the emergency alarm. Something is certainly going wrong." He admitted. "Wait here, I would be right back." He instructed Debby.

The butler rushed into the security room and checked through the series of the surveillance camera. He watched the front door and there was no sign of any impending danger. He quickly checked the footage from the backyard and found Lord Douglas' eyes to be closed, he looked like someone that had lost consciousness.

The Butler stepped out of the security room to see series of soldiers already patrolling the place. "Was there any invasion of some sort?" The Butler asked.

"No sir," one of the soldiers responded.

"There was no one that had used the gate in the past seven hours other than miss Debby." The soldier further added.

The Butler rushed alongside other soldiers and made their way to the back of the house only to discover that Lord Douglas was dead.

After a series of hand checks, weight checks, and also neck checks, the butler realized that the old man had no pulse left in his body.

"Quick, we need to get him to the hospital, there is still something that could be done about this." The Butler said with hope and the soldiers hoisted up the old man's body and used the emergency door, which only the security personnel had knowledge about and were able to move the ald man away from the mansion.

The Butler rushed inside the main building to see Debby still seated on the couch. Debby had noticed his countenance when be stepped in and believed that something was wrong.
